BLOG SPORTING ROUND UP

- As for the rugby SA meet Fiji. Tough customers. But more in our post from the SCRUMHALF AM

- Formula 1. Hamilton wins the Japanese Grand prix. Ferarri must now probably rule themselves out of the Drivers standings. There was some banter about Feraari having to make an early pit as they were not informed or the email reached them late that all cars had to start the race with extreme wet tyres. How we miss Shumi

....Ebie Jay ur thoughts or was the fast very hard....

- We have had some golfers logging on of late. Me personally Golf is too slow for me.Yet I have heard that once you try it is SUBLIME ha ha..Can you be the AGASSI OF Golf. If I can wear odd socks and earings and Okleys maybe Il give it a bash.Holders the United States won the Presidents Cup for a fifth time in seven editions in Montreal when Stewart Cink crushed Australian Nick O'Hern 6&4 in Sunday's last-day singles.

HASH WE WISH YOU WELL ON OUR IN PAKISTAN

-On Swoosh0018 WE ALWAYS SUPPORT HASH 100% OF THE WAY. Good to see Hash scoring 80 odd in the warm up game. AND HASH ON BEHALF OF THE BLOG WE WISH YOU WELL IN THE TOUR AND PLEASE SCORE SOME RUNS FOR US.

AS WE ALWAYS SAY YOU GO HASH..WE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY

VIDEO OF THE WEEK-YOUL NEVER WALK ALONE

In light of the debate in last weeks "OPEN THE FLOOR" post. It was fitting to post this video.
YOU CAN BUY PLAYERS AND DESIGNER FLAGS.BUT YOU CANT BUY ATMOSPHERE AND THEN YOU HAVE TO CROSS THAT WHITE LINE TO THE MOST INTIMIDATING ATMOSPHERE.THAT IS.........................ANFIELD

WEEKLY SOCCER ROUND UP-3 POINTS IS 3 POINTS

A good weekend I'd say for any footballing fan. The cold spell or the last of Winter seems to have left us. The fast going by so quickly that its first night of Itikaaf on Tuesday. Can you believe it. I met up with some die hards this weekend with Cisse leaving his mark. Lately Cisse has been a man of few words. He encouraged me regarding Fernando Torres and Cisse is one man who has faith in Rafa, From the Get Go. Regarding the food situation We indulged in some soccer banter with the chaps at a braai at my place. Chilli sausages and Park butchery Chops,in the words of the blog SUBLIME.Overall though there was no sombre moods as it was a good sporting weekend for All.

FROM THE KOP END
Mams was right.A ugly win but three points is three points. It was good to lift the jinx. I watched the highlights and was really impressed with the Liverpool Goal. Ben Ayoun I feel is a real grafter and a clinical finish. As the headline says 3 points is 3 points and we are up there. On Paper I thought Rafa played the team we expected. Starting Torres and Kuyt seems to be the perfect striking option. Oh and Rashid Cassim on Friday boldly stated that the League will be Liverpools by march. This coming from a man who accuratly predicted Istanbul and the World Cup. His predictions stand at 2-1. Maybe he just wants me to get married.
THEATER OF DREAMS
The lity popped up again and the 6th 1-0 victory on the trot. Im sure the MANCS will be reeling at the loss of Van de Sar. But to win against Bruce's Birmingham seems to be a good result in context with the way in which the league is progressing. Also a lot of the MANCS this weekend were talking of Wayne Rooney emerging from the gallows. Bloody Optimists I say.....
But in the Healine Theory 3 points is 3 points

ALWAYS A GUNNER
West Ham at Upton Park was no push over.West Ham were pressing. We met with Jives and FaiZ oZ on Friday. The lads were happy with their form and signalling Wenger as the unsung hero. Van Persie in Ramadaan. And the Gunners keep blasting On. Pity Freddy Ljungbergs goal was disallowed. Would have been great to see him score against his old club.
And AGAIN 3 POINTS IS 3 POINTS

CHEL$KI
Now 1 point is not good enough. What is happening here. Who sent the DROG OFF. It was evident that the Drog was playing like a boy who lost his Dad. The Crowd boo'ing Sheva.A great European striker of his calibre. Vendors selling we "Want the Special One Jose Mourinho back at the bridge t shirts. Forget the Alipore tea at teh wedding. Now its like attending a wedding and there are no DEGS available.A sunday wedding with no biryani.
Also a world class outfit needs a World class manager. Not Grant. There are talks of Van Basten at the bridge. Lastly any world class team that has Tel bain Haim as a center back......The owe is shit. Even Willem jackson is better than Him. Something needs to be done. Or it will be like Brad Pitt sacking TROY

Elsewhere Azee look at teh miracles Sven is making. Man City thumping Newcastle 3-1.And what class goals. Everton or Lescott & Arteta beat Borough. Bilal and Bolton stick in there. But teh BIG 4 minus Chelsea all had weekends to appreciate

SPANISH LA LIGA
Henry after the sakraat with his wife bags a hat trick and crushes sorry Levante. But tehe talks at Barcelona has been of Ronaldinho. He has been going out at nights and partying. The crowd are jeering him. Ever since they played Sundowns and he went to Taboo and did the deed with a chick. Some of u know what Im taling about, He has never been the same. He just wants to RIK. I think next time he comes to SA we must organise hime on the guest list at latinova. I kid you not
Riyad Loonat. That man is on another planet.Last year this time I was just lambasting the man. This year the man and madrid is seeing the cricket ball like a football. An impressive 2-0 win for them in midweek.valencia and co also keep on mounting the pressure. This week a 1-0 win

Serie A.

Cisse told me Mourinho wants to take over at Milan. Another drab draw and he could be right. Milan are not quite themselves. What you say mr Daya. With city rivals Inter impressively thumping Roma, Berlusconi is on edge. I hate Inter bcoz Juve hate Inter. More on Juve later.

FORZA JUVE.
This week was the Turin Derby. Torino are always tough when it comes to the Derby in Serie A. And Trezegol snatched it for us in the 90th minute. Three Points is thre points and more so the TINKERMAN seems to be grinding out the results. Other news is that Juve want to keep skipper Del Piero till 2010. But they would have to up their offer of a contract and not a 30% reduction in Dels twighlight. Im sure they will.

OPEN THE FLOOR

Fast is a bit tough today I wont lie. Thought Id open the floor for today and tomorrow on which stadium has the best atmosphere.
I have personally been to Old Trafford and Elland Road in Leeds. Old trafford was awesome as I went there in Euro 96. When I STOOD at the tunnel barely a meter from the pitch I envisaged what it was like on a European Night.

I can only Imagine Anfield, The Bernabeu,Alianz Arena, Nou Camp,FNB between Chiefs & Pirates lol. The Maracana. There are so many great stadiums around the world with an atmosphere second to none. I will go to Turin one day.But I will go.

I open the floor to all the lads that have been to great stadiums around the World. Please share with the blog your experiences.I would like to hear whats it like around the world.Especially the atmosphere.

Though the wise men have spoken that ANFIELD IS SOMETHING ELSE.
One of my writers Ejaz sent me the following below

ANFIELD RATED BEST ATMOSPHERE Paul Hassall 27 September 2007
A survey of English football fans revealed what Reds supporters have known all along - Anfield has the best atmosphere in Europe.
The poll, conducted by property consultants Drivers Jonas Sport, ranked Liverpool's famous stadium ahead of the likes of Real Madrid's Bernabeu and Barcelona's Nou Camp, which was the highest-placed side from mainland Europe in fifth place. Celtic's Parkhead came second while Portsmouth's Fratton Park was a surprise third.

REMEMBER COVENTRY.WELL IF YOU FORGOT THEM .NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO REFLECT. AND ITS THE 1 YEAR ANNIVESARY SINCE SOUTHEND DUMPED THE MANCS

MAN UTD 0 COVENTRY 2

Is this correct.Ive had numerous sms's from the Kop owes saying take the MUGGS TO THE CLEANERS AND paint the blog sky blue. Ok I know this was a second string Man Utd side. But isnt pride at stake here. At least we dont have to hear about the quadruple now. Bottom line is MAN UTD ARE OUT OF THE CARLING CUP and as the ROCK from the WWE says "AND THATS THE BOTTOM LINE"

Elsewhere results when as expected but a strong Villa team were bounced out. Riza ANY WORDS FROM YOU HERE. Is this a train smash for a Villa Supporter. I know I feel the pain when Juve get dumped from the Coppa Italia. Must be a disappointing result for you.

BREAKING NEWS

Ramadan fast colors Spain's La Liga

BARCELONA — Muslim stars in giant teams at the Spanish League (La Liga) are the talk of the city, but this time not because of their breathtaking performance but rather their religion. Spanish dailies have for days been splashing headlines about the holy fasting month of Ramadan in Spanish courts. FC Barcelona's fans are wondering if their favorite players Yaya Toure, Eric Abidal and Lilian Thuram are fasting or not. The Muslim footballers are in a real dilemma after the team's doctors ruled out in press statements allowing the trio to fast during match days. During Ramadan, adult Muslims, save the sick and those traveling, abstain during daylight hours from food, drink, smoking and sex. After moving from France's Monaco for 10 million euros, talented midfielder Toure made it clear that practicing Islam, including fasting, does not affect his successful soccer career. He was named by Eurosport in 2005 as one of the most promising young players in the world. Compatriot defenders Abidal and Thuram are also playing for the 2006-07 runner-up and a twice winner of the UEFA Champions League. Abidal, a former Lyon player who signed last season a four-year contract for FC Barcelona for 15 million euros, is known for being an observant Muslim. He has been photographed many times carrying a copy of the Noble Qur'an at his training kits. The league's last season winner Real Madrid was adamant to let its Muslim midfielder and the backbone of the royal team Mammadou Diarra fast during Ramadan. But both sides have finally reached an agreement preventing Diarra from fasting only in match days. Frederick Kanoute, the French striker of Seville FC, the 2006-07 league's third and the holder of last season's cup championship, has ridiculed suggestions that fasting might affect his performance. "Those who know Islam understand that fasting empowers and does not weaken the Muslim." Kanoute proved his point last season after being crowned the league's top scorer with 20 goals, outperforming football legends such as Brazilian Ronaldinho. This has convinced his club not to pressure him on his religious beliefs, according to the ABC daily. Kanoute, a practicing Muslim who regularly performs his prayers even in the locker room, refused last season to wear a jersey advertising for an internet gambling site, because gambling is forbidden in Islam. His team had to give him a brand-free jersey until he accepted wearing the sponsored jersey in return for money to an Islamic charity. ISLAM-ONLINE

News – Mclaren SLR Roadster
AMG & Mclaren have taken the super car concept to another dimension, that’s blitzing to 332Km/h in 30 seconds & still enjoying your Bose sound system - Luxury saloon intersects hard core racer. The soft top Merc is so well engineered you could cruise at 200Km/h with the top down & still hold an audible conversation. The SLR’s aluminium space frame chassis & carbon fibre construction has kept its weight in check & provided stability & rigidity beyond conventional roadster standards. In short it’s a 330Km/h power bomb comforting your behind like a lazy boy. And it’s flippin stunning….

Motor: 5.5 liter Supercharged twin intercooled AMG V8, 5 speed automatic/manual.
Power: 460Kw & 780Nm @3250rpm
Performance: 0-100Km/ in 3.8s Top Speed 332Km/h

Lamborghini Reventon – A Blunder?
Debuted at the Frankfurt motor show – Reventon is the name of a legendary Spanish bull, as most lambo’s are named after, but “Reventon” actually means – “blown tire”. Some auto commentators have questioned the naming & also called for a name change. Which makes sense cos you don’t expect customer confidence on a car which claims to reach 340Km/h when it’s named as blown tire. Anyways it’s built out of carbon composites, has Audi Quattro installed together with viscous traction or VLSD and only available in a limited edition of 20. Wandering about the price? They all sold out.

Motor: 6.5liter V12 (LP640)
Power: 477Kw & 660nm @8000rpm
Performance: 0-100km/h-3.4s Top speed-340Km/h (claimed)

Legend: Mclaren F1 LM
You just knew it was going here, the F1, possibly the greatest supercar ever built - by popular sentiment.
The one that takes the cake is the F1 LM. LM denotes Le Mans, Mclaren cleaned up at Le Mans in 1995 winning it in the there first attempt with the F1, dubbed the GTR & in celebration of that victory they produced only 5 editions of the LM in recognition of the five F1 cars that finished in the Top 13 including 3rd, 4th & 5th. The LM weighs in at just a ton, A TON!! The power to weight figure is second to none for a road going car that produces 505Kw. I know what you thinking > Are You fcuking kidding me. No, it accelerates to 100Km/h in just 3 seconds capable of an Enzo killing top speed of 360Km/h. The production F1 GTR set a top speed record back in 1998 blitzing to 384Km/h in Germany. The F1 - a focused track inspired road going super missile.

A super car that can seat 3, the driver being in the front middle. How floppin cool is that – the art of cool !!

“VW's Citi to top half-million after 22 years
The 500 000th Mark 1 Citi will come off the VW production line in Uitenhage by the end of September to mark 22 years of production of this iconic small car.”

Wow Laauw remember when you used to move in that green mamba Mk1, every time we drove over a pebble it sounded like gunshots from an attempted hi-jack. I used to duck for cover in the passenger seat but to no avail cos it felt like the shot were coming straight up my behind !! Tell us how your Jetta Mk5 compares to your previous death trap Bra Laauw? (He’s come along way that boy Laauw-ster)

Mk1’s with wheelz – is that a floppin 4 piece wheel? Shiyassee…. As in sheessssy

PRO 20 WORLD CUP FINAL

Well, it was like something out of a bollywood movie, even a guest appearance by Shah Rukh Khan, disguised as Michael Jackson (sunglasses and all).
Some of the Indian players like Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni were started going on like they were acting in Lagaan. It was too much pomp and show, and I’m only talking about the warm up before the game ! I was hoping the Pakistani’s came up tops. After all that they had been through since the World Cup tragedies both on and off the field, it would be a fitting tribute of turning their own fortunes… but it was not to be.

Pro 20 is a batman’s game, that’s what the “experts” predicted, but it is indeed the bowlers that have set up victories against the trigger happy batsman, ready to beat
Yuvraj’s 119 meter Boundary, I still feel Misbahal Haq’s one was bigger than Yuvraj’s, but finding out if there is really a poor oke tasked with measuring where it landed in the parking lot outside the grounds remains the biggest mystery of Pro 20.

The Grand finale: Pakistan versus India

Neighbors in arms (Firearms, missiles, whatever…!)The kind you “just smile and wave” to, but maliciously want to thump with your baseball bat whenever you’re back in your house, Pakistan and India entered the bullring aka Wanderers, Pakistan lead by Shoaib “the Fox” Malik, India by Mahendra “The Lion of Bombay” Dhoni, fresh out of Masumi Hair Salon, he and Shah Rukh having went for a quick blow and dry, and then they went to the Hairdresser.

For the old school grandfathers of cricket, sorry to say but Fast Food cricket is here to stay. I can’t wait for the test series to start, surely the Pakistani’s and maybe the Souf Effricans will still be stuck in the Pro 20 mode and Clober there way through 5 days of runs galore… or it could be over in 4o overs, and then the old geezers at Lords will spill their tea, and cricket will have been officially raped of the gentlemans game reputation it has built for centuries.

India batted, Pakistan batted, Shah Rukh appeared , Lagaan happened , India won.
And thats the way it all ended. If you thought “Body on Tap” Dhoni and Yuvraj “I look like Eric Bana” Singh, were arrogant and self obsessed before the victory, guess what, its only going to get worse… for us
Sreesanth can take a catch with his nostrils but that doesn’ stop him from “telling himself his the cutest’ , Harbhajan looks like Horrible or Terrible of Ajoodha’s bottle store fame but he goes on like his Aamir Khan in Lagaan, I can go on and on…
But they CAN play cricket and that’s all that counts…damn !

Great ambassadors for the game, Pepsi, Bollywood, and all and all

No Match report – the whole world saw the game …>

Joke of the day : Ramiz Raja saying what a great find Misbah al Haq has been, he’’ serve them well for the future
he’s retiring soon he’s 33 yeards old !But boy can the old man hit
So close yet so far… WHY DID MISBAH HAVE TO TRY THAT AUDACIOUS SHOT???
Next time, there is no next time, Geoff Lawson out, Mickey Arthur in …never !!
If he was Pakistani Coach they would kill him and tell the cops they did it

BY EJAZ KHAN

What a day. Myself & Faaiz Oz got to the BULL Ring at about 13.30pm. With the faint hope of getting tickets. No chance. Guys were offering R1000. WMD.WHAT MUST DO. So we decided to go on a foot patrol. We got the pre match tension. The Celebrations etc Unfortunately we had to reduce the quality of our videos to get them all in. If we shot at a high resolution we would have only managed to upload a few. Although we missed out inside the stadium the streets were just as good. These videos are a MUST SEE. Look we not professional cameramen so bare with us.We had to podcast and streaming can be a tad bit troublesome. We could only accomodate these vids at 215kb per second for all of them as we shot them at low res
The fast didnt even get us.

I must admit I was dissapointed that the Paki's lost.We watched the second innings at a nearby resturant. The Pakis were cruising and I thought Nazir's run out was the turning point. Then the PAKIS started throwing it away. When Afridi went for a first baller I told Faaiz Oz lets hit the streets. Then a late onslaught by Misbah Ul Haq and Tanweer left us in AWE. Then I cant talk about it. 3 balls to hit a boundary and Misbah goes for the Dink. Why Misbah,Why? We met a irate Hazrat Yusuf Rasool a die hard Paki Fan. Youl see him in the third video. And the man was shattered. So close. From the dead. Alas we braced ourselves for the India Fans and the Videos tell it all .

Also there were moments where I had to do my closing line just like Altaf Kazee and other reporters. After this experience I just wanna send a message to Altaf and the rest of the journalists. I take my hat of to you okes. You guys make journalism look easy and to be infront of a camera for millions of viewers is no easy feat.

Keep up the good work and I wish you okes well in your careers.

PR0 20 UPDATE

What a dream Final.Pakistan vs India. And Im sure Wanderers will be going stark raving made. Pakistan I thought were making heavy weather but then they seemed to be on top.
After Iftaar I watched Yuvraj and Doni pummel the Ozzies. 180 in Kingsmead seemed a winning target. After tarawee (evening prayer) we went to Al Warees bakery in Lenz. The atmosphere was electric. Baboo Wadee if you watch this clip YOU will feel like you at home in Omar Farouq.
The Indian fans were going mad there and we were lucky to get some reaction from a few of them in the end of the clip. Please watch the movie with sound and bear with us as my camera men had to wiggle and waggle to get the shots..We will have a final write up below on Tuesday from Ejaz

Swoosh

WEEKLY SOCCER ROUND UP-WE MISS MOURINHO

We could clearly see that THE SPECIAL ONE was sorely missed. Chelsea looked like they were ordinary. Its like watching the Chelsea of the old. They look like they in the perishaans man. I thought the pain of losing Jose would have sprung them into life. But 2-0.Anyways more later.

Amidst the Euphoria of the PRO 20 and a final from the Sub Continent looming, the weekend was spent fighting the heat and eating. Al Makah in Fordsburg provided the perfect haven to absorb the cricket atmosphere and indulge in some seriously delicious Bangalee cuisine. To the AL Makah owes ,you seriously out did yourselves by staying open for Swoosh0018 and my chaps. Must come see you owes for advertising.

THEATER OF DREAMS & CHEL$KI
Mamoo was smiling last night. 5 wins on the trot and totally out classing Chelsea. Its not the result I wanted or prospected but the better team has to win. At one stage not one shot at Van De Sar. I thought the sending off was harsh and the United penalty dubious but United were the better team. I mean how can you not against guys like Ben Haim. We Liverpool were cheated against Chelsea. From a MANC perspective Im sure they were good to see Teves gain some confidence and as I said 5 wins on the trot for Sir Alex's men. Chelsea need a Capello. They need a Galactico. Rumours are rife that without Jose at the helm some big names will fall. Fabio please come to the bridge. Make the premiership more interesting....Good to see the lads like Herbly & Co enjoying the late night chows with a sense of arrogance knowing that they have won 5 on the trot

FROM THE KOP END.
0-0 draw at Birmingham. I mean whats going on.Why do we do this. Benitez didnt start with Finnan and Torres. Was he resting them. Other than that it was a descent Liverpool team that I thought could have carved out a result. To me its 5 points lost and we need to kick into gear. Confidence and Consistency is needed. We have the squad that can do to this. I spoke to Ebie Kop End.He said Torres should have come on earlier. But no three points.

ALWAYS A GUNNER
Wengers litys are playing some brilliant soccer. And Cesc Fabregas's name has made this post every week. Faaiz Oz always slams Adebajor. The man pulls a hatrick. Derby seems to be the whipping boys. But all credit to the Gunners. They are flying

Good win for Villa Riza. I always thought of Jhon Carew as being a nuisance. Remember what he did to Arsenal in the Champs League in the past. Newcastle were resolute and compact. Man City drew and this seasons proving to be a blinder.

SPANISH LA LIGA.
Barca back to winning ways and Madrid drew. Is Thiery Henry ok.Or is he missing Arsenal.

SERIA A.
Inter drew and that means only one thing.Mourinho is on his way and Mancini out. Lazio lost and Milan were held 1-1 at Parma

FORZA JUVE

The big one against Spaletti's Roma. Trezeguet opened the scoring but Totti equalised. Totti then put Roma 2-1 up. A minute later Del Piero missed a penalty sending it over the bar. Fortunatley for the Tinker Man Ijaquinta equalised at the death and the 2-2 draw was a good one for us. Top 4 is a priority and I wont be bold and saying we chaisng the scudetto. Top 4 and rebuilding next year and Ranieri replaced.Thats what I want

PROREAS DEFLOWERED BY INDIA

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire…that how the saying goes. When it comes to the Protea’s, it should rewritten “where’s there’s choke, there’s South Africa…

The bunch of racist Loots Bosman hating losers are out of the competition, and just when it counts. I, for one, am about as glad as Smithy in a pie shop that they’re out. I hope they continually fail in tournament after tournament, until they sort out the racism issues. Goolam Bodi aka as the WaterBoy, is good enough to play for any team in the world, but not good enough for south Africa. Sad really, he most probably would have top scored. But as they say, hindsight is 20/20 . But Pro20 and in fact any format where pressure or tension is placed on the Protea’s always results in a collapse of twin tower proportions. South Africa hadn’t lost until now, when it really mattered. Looking back to the Cricket World Cup in West Indies, there too they couldn’t take the heat and frizzled into mediocrity when all south African supporters were hoping they would lift themselves to the next level. Nothing, just disappointment, something fans will continue to be tortured with until we have players who can make the grade on raw talent and ability, like the Pakistani team have done form as long as anyone can recall. The sad reality is that MOST of the country’s talent is left untapped or unrecognized simply because the gifted players didn’t go to King Edwards, Grey College or Wynberg Boys - “the Old boys network” as one of my colleagues refers to them.

Players like Makhaya Ntini calling for scrapping of quota’s is a damn shame. Ntini, himself coming from a previously disadvantaged background, has turned his back on his roots unconvincing twang & bad hairdo aside. The dramatic irony is that he is calling for others to be denied the opportunity that he was afforded, just because he has established himself as one of the untouchables. It stinks of Hypocrisy, and that too of the highest order. Ah well, he is a Protea player after all, that explains everything.

Pakistan and India are still in it with a terrific chance, and if Pakistan doesn’t go all the way, my backing goes to India, then New Zealand anyone besides the buggers from Oz …anyone…

And finally to the only South African Sports team capable of winning anything at present, and most likely to bring home some precious silverware, GO SPRINGBOKS !!!

MID WEEK SOCCER ROUND UP

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP PHASES
MATCHDAY 1

THEATER OF DREAMS

What can I say.The MANCS have got their first 3 points in Europe. The lity stepped up a gear. I must say a good result against a motivated Sporting team. Deep down I expected the lity to score. Going back to Portugal he had a point to prove. Im not going to slate. 3 points is 3 points in Europe away from Home

ALWAYS A GUNNER

Wengers litys are on a roll.3 against Sevilla. Cesc Fabregas for president. The lad is having a riviting start to the season. Faiz Oz,Zam Ram.I LEAVE IT to you boys

The other results went as expected.Roma,PSV and the likes all advancing. Talia and Azee.Did JCD score. The man is doing the official embroidery for Swoosh0018.com. The Caps came out class. One thing I was happy about.Inter lost. I coudnt have it my way with UTD but TOTTI and Co will take care of that for me

FROM THE KOP END
I think we were lucky to come away with a point. After Penants red card Porto kept threatening the Liverpool goal. The Porto penalty, well I think Reyna did commit a foul. Its difficult though coming out in a 50/50.You have got to commit and well thats the way it goes. Kuyt demonstrated again his prowess in Europe. Torres had a dissapointing debut.Enough said. Two terrible games in a row but we should bounce back. The lads I thought did well to come away with a point.

In the other games Real Madrid fought to prove they are hungry for Big Ears this year. Cannavaro stated that this is the only trophy that has eluded him and the squad wants it.Good to see Raul & Van poaching the goals. Milan in Europe are Milan. I would have thought that the Bhouys Celtic would have done better.

CHEL$KI.
Perhaps the shock of the round. 1-0 down to Rosenborg. Sheva headed in the equaliser and Like I said earlier. You cant attend a wedding that doesnt serve tea. Mourinho looks like he will be the big casualty of the season.

Other than that Lets see what tomorrow has in store.Maybe we can slaughter well before Eid. Mark my Words. This MANC defense will be exposed in Europe.I guess I got this wrong.Il leave it to Chelsea

PRO 20 UPDATE

AahThe Pakistani cricket team, you gotta love them. Just when you think they have thrown another game away, they resurrect themselves from the what almost always looks like the point of no return . Against World Champions in the 50 over format Australia, they continued there surprisingly consistent performances with a come-from-behind victory that almost made me want to wear my Pakistani cricket Shirt again. But I resist, remembering the Pakistan of the past. Full of talent, full of promise, Full of cr@p.
They lose when you expect them to win(remember Ireland anyone at the Windies World Cup) and win when you expect them to lose ( Australia Pro 20 World Cup)
They change their players so often that I sometimes think that Rafa Benitez is their coach. Though I don’t think Rafa would have survived (no offence Bob Woolmer) the erratic nature of these “sensitive” players who bring their moods both good and bad, onto the field, would have him reaching for Craig Bellamy’s Old golf club, or better yet, The bat Shoaib Akhtar used to klobber Mohamed Asif when they fought on the eve of the World cup or something like that…anyway moving on to the Pro20 World Cup and Pakistan have progressed rather rapidly and with a certain sense of belief that they could actually win a trophy post Imran Khan/ Wasim Akram/Waqar Younis era.
They celebrate every wicket as if it was the match winning take, and have somehow managed to get their fielding standards up a couple of notches.

Misbah al Haq is a relatively new name for fans but at aged 33 is quite experienced. He has endeared himself to supporters with his big hearted and big hitting style, and not for the first time took Pakistan to victory. At one stage 46-4 , He alongside Skipper Shoaib Malik made light work of the Australian attack, and did all the work early on , and won quite convincingly at the end, hardly breaking a sweat, a single here, a two there, made Australia look like Zimbabwe. Wait a minute ,Zimbabwe beat Australia too, I almost forgot . Pakistan seems to have upped the momentum the night before by defeating Sri Lanka. Mohamed Asif bowls in the area of uncertainty all day ,and is a real revelation for the Pakistani bowling attack. He is growing in stature and composure and is up their with the best

New Zealand’s Scott Styris and Craig Macmillan have also got into the hitting grooves by thrashing England Yesterday, with sixes flowing from the duo as they continuously encouraged each other to hit a bigger six than theprevious one. Now members of the 6 or Nicks club, they join a growing number of blistering blasters that Pro 20 is producing, like I said previously , 500 in a 50 over game, is no longer and impossible dream, its edging closer with every six, every scoop off leg stump for maximum bringing more ingenuity and pushing players to play at their peaks for longer periods can only make them better and the game on a whole will go to the next level.

WHY IS BODI NOT PLAYING. As the comments stated in Video of the Week. His stats prove he should start...

Im lost for words. Meanwhile SA continue with Kemp the man whom many wanted booted before this tournament being teh star of the show. How was Yuvraj's six sixes in a row. If Sril lanka beat Aus and SA meet Pakistan in the final The CUP will be ours

Best of the Best Fantasy League

So far as we enter mid September the Top Ten looks as follows.Look at the Mayet brothers Anees and Afzal. However the Best of The Best has some breaking news

We are opening up a BUNG enquiry on the defending Champion Yusuf Seth. Like in the Calciopoli scandal in Serie A, Seth is in danger of being stripped of his titles if found GUILTY. Can a teams name be changed or has Rob Stylez Rules formerly known as Joses Wet Dream x11 indulged in a conspiracy. Did he change his teams name or did he change a team.
The rule says ONE TEAM PER PLAYER.
If the Champion is found guilty this could rock the world of Fantasy Football and tarnish the proud record of the Best Of The Best League and the blog.
Is the punishment of being stripped of his title and docked 200 points too Harsh. If found Guilty.I encourage all members of the Best of the Best League to comment.

And all this after Maclaren shocked the world. What next. Its happening at our own Doorstep.

If Seth is innocent The BUNG enquiry will prove this

1 Miroslav's XI afzal mayet 85 333
2 ANZO STARS ANEES MAYET 39 287
3 THEREDS Zeyad Patel 44 286
4 17 years and waiting Mohsin Seth 38 286
5 Woolwich mohammed motan 63 284
6 Swaar FC Yousuf Kadwa 50 282
7 F.C.Vehzerz farid saloojee 44 279
8 F.C HAZRATS yusuf rasool 73 277
9 THE UNTOUCHABLES bilal suliman 45 276
10 ZamRam Faiyaz Mayet 62 273

RUGBY WORLD CUP UPDATE

The second week of RWC 2007 and once again the Southern hemisphere teams look way ahead of the Northern hemisphere teams. The Boks sent out a message to the rest of the world that they are up there with the all blacks as favorites to win the cup. They totally outplayed the English on Friday. Fourie Du preez was the star but there were big games from Butch James, Wikus (standing in for Schalk) and the locks as well. JP Pieterson looks like he has settled as well. The scrums were a concern as they got blown up a few times. Carl Hayman the all black tighthead will be a handful and looks like OS will struggle against him. We should maybe see what Guthro Steenkamp has to offer.

The question is were the boks so good or are England so shite? England are a shadow of the team from 4 years ago. Added to this they had no Wilko and Vickery for the game, they were depleted. They look alot like what the boks looked like in 2003: ie: very average. Are we reading too much into the Boks performance against a very average team? England will have to battle it out with Tonga now for the 2nd spot as Tonga shocked Samoa yesterday.

Elsewhere the Ausies won against a stuttering Wales, the all blacks thumped Portugal and France demolished Namibia who had to play the bulk of the game with 14 men. Ireland have disappointed, they barely won against Georgia and many people had them as an outside bet to win the cup. Brian O’driscolls men look a lot like the other six nation teams. They lack cohesion and are making basic errors.

On a final note why do we have to listen to Hugh Bladen for the Boks games? He is atrocious, very biased, and just bad on the ear. I would like to listen to the English commentary that we get for the other games.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

Talk about entrances into arenas. Forget WWE. This oke was class. The CHAMPION OF THE WWWOOOOOORRRLLLLLLLDDDD. PRINCE NASEEM HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMED.
Spectecular. His entrance not only angered opponents it gave show busineness another Dimension

MUGGS OF THE WEEK

Maclaren actually had 4 cars. Two Maclarens and two Ferrari's. I spoke to some Formula 1 big boys this weekend. 100 million dollars. Thats nothing. They'l make it up in a week.

They should be booted from Formula 1 or suspended for two years at least. When Juve were involved in the Calciopoli scandal we were booted to Serie B and stripped off our titles.

This is injustice. Its like when Magoba was supposed to fight our DP case back at Campus. Some people got their DP'S for acoounting by not attending a single Tut. We were put back a year because of ...let me not go there. No balance. My verdict is that Alonso turned state and was a rat. Alonso is a rat because Sonny Black said so. He knew what was going on. He approached the media. Its sad that a renouned team can cheat like This. Where is the ethics. And people say the Brothers that cheated in the Comrades Marathon should have been put away for Life...

Enough said in the voice of the cruel lady from THE WEAKEST LINK.Maclaren YOU ARE THE MUGGS OF THE WEEK.GOODBYE.Its a darn shame

LUCK.WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF LUCKY

Firstly what is the definition of Luck. is luck something when Goolams Law of Astro physics evades you all the time. is it the converse of Goolams law of Astrophysics. Is it when you do everything wrong but still get away with Murder.
To magnify this question theres only one answer

LUCK=MAN UTD

THEATER OF DREAMS
Now before I get pated for being bias by the United entourage Soccernet.com clearly stated that Utd didnt deserve the three points and that they played terrible. Now thats why I say that they are lucky. I mean they the only team that can play lousy football and walk away with three points. I mean come on now. I wont lie Vidic scored a belter and three points is three points. But to steal it again, thats plain wrong. Teves I thought played well throughout but the Toffees were unlucky to lose three points. The overall equation really stinks. Utd now have won three on the trot. Chelsea Im sure will fail to dissapoint this week and lets cross our fingers. Its Ramadaan so I will not swear but All I can say is YOU LUCKY MUGGS.YOU HAVE DONE IT AGAIN.

FROM THE KOP END
On Saturday I spoke to an irate Mams Wadee. I too was tee'd off If you can say it like that. I mean Rafa there is just some owes that you have to start off with. Torres and Stevie G. I mean Torres scored in Midweek.Play the Boy. Fine I understand the International break and all but Pompey are teams that we have to give Derby County treatment to. Why must we let the foot off the pedal. Maybe Rafa is preparing for Champions League. But i was angry at a dismal Liverpool performance. Kanu missed a penalty and in the end though I guess we were luck to get a point. On the bright side we have a game in hand and cannot lose focus. But Liverpool to me aqundered 2 points in the process

ALWAYS A GUNNER
I heard Faaiz Oz cursing Adebejour. The man missed about a 100.But scored 2 and as Jives says it, CESC FOR PRESIDENT. At least the blog is not stinking and the Young Gunners find themselves top of the Premiership. Who would have thought, minus Ti Ti Henry.
To me they are playing the most attractive soccer in the premiership. Big game for them,London Derby. How was Toures clearance off Berbatov.Match Winning. Well done Arsenal Lads. You continue to shock Us

CHEL$KI
You know when you go to a Alipore weeding and you look forward to the Masala Tea. Imagine if the Brides family says there is no tea. Thats how I feel when Im watching Chelsea. Im attending a great function with big names but there is no Masala Tea for desert. Ratehr leave the function. I just hpe Jose's men can deliver against teh MANCS next week.

In the rest of the premiership results went accordingly. SVEN now sits second and is proving his pedigree. Riza our Villa Man, Any thoughts from your side. Riza the Villa Man will make his debut on the blog shortly.

GLOBAL SOCCER ROUND UP
RIyad Loonat must be enjoying the fast.Madrid are looking menacing in La Liga.Barca are in need of fresh faces in management but Cannavaro and the lads are looking dangerous.

In Serie A Roma and Inter all won.Nesta saved Milans blushes in stopage time. As for Juve, more on them later

LOCAL SOCCER ROUND UP
September 16Castle Premiership

September 15SAA Supa 8 Final Pirates 0 Sundowns 1

Chiefs seem to be struggling. For our partners Diadora they could take some smiles with them afer Downs defeated Pirates in the SAA Supa 8 Final. But Celtic continue to ride high and head the table

FORZA JUVE
A sad weekend benchmarking our first loss. A 1-0 loss away to Udinese. Juve though played well and Del Piero was unlucky as his curling free kick hit the Underside of the Bar. When did we ever see ourselves losing to Udinese. Ijaquinta had a goal disallowed and Cheliini a legitimate penalty turned down. This further illustrates that TOP 4 in Serie A will be Juves priority this season. lets take it as The International Break took its toll and disrupted strides.

Until next week and this result summed up a dismal Soccer weekend for me.

Forza Juve

Always a Bianconeri

JET FUEL ONLY

News – Muscle Mayhem – The VIPER SRT10
Wait for it … 8.4liters of brute muscle. Following a new breed of American super cars Detroit muscle is not exactly known for all round performance & handling prowess but this latest incarnation of the Viper seems to be the exception. Where previous Vipers have failed this one has excelled. Retuned suspension & a limited slip diff means this edition can be pretty quick around a track with Michelin Pilot PS2’s keeping it planted. The only disappointment seems to be there’s no limit to how big these yank engines can get. How is Ferrari able to extract 480Kw from a 6.0 litre whereas the Chrysler engineers cannot reach that figure with 8.4liters? I watched a video clip of this slithering reptile & it is the business. It looks magical, with 8.4liters, the down changes sound like thunder. A first on the Viper is VVT & the performance numbers are quite impressive, most of all being a 0 to 160Km/h sprint & back to 0 in 12s. With no Stability Control owners can expect to feel the Vipers poison. Truly a Serpent on wheels!

Motor : 8.4 Litre V10 - 20 valve– 6 speed manual (for the masters)
Power: 440Kw & 728Nm
Performance: 0-100Km/h – 3.8s Top Speed: 315Km/h. Quarter mile (400m) in 11.6s

Don’t expect to see this Dodge locally, steerings on the wrong side of the car, DAMN.

Check the Vid here (shortened version). Crank up the sound - have you ever heard anything sound this brutally beautiful?
(Mr swoosh please attach vid here)

Toyota Corolla
I was walking past a Toyota dealership and I spotted this good looking sedan which I approached to inspect. It was the new Corolla. A lot better looking than the previous chunky styled edition. Clean lines, positively designed, and a neat interior. The Corolla legend continues, with this being the 9th edition (I think). The 4 door sedan is available in 4 models starting from a 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 & a 2.0 diesel. The 1.6 makes a respectable 81Kw & the 1.8 an impressive 100Kw with pricing ranging from 160K to 180 K respectively. The turbo diesel comes in at 220K, twisting out good torque at 300NM & 93kw.

Legends: Corolla 160 GLI
Over the years the Corolla has embodied Toyota’s legendary reliability status of everything keeps going right. Easy to maintain & super fuel efficient, an all time legend that’s come to mind is the 160 GLi twin cam. Released back in 1986 the chisel nose made 86Kw & the Exec released around 1990 sold for around 25K & still today okes are asking around 35 to 40K for the clean ones. The 4AGE motor found on the Exec with its 7000rpm rev limit produced excellent power output at 96Kw. The “full house” had a brilliant all round finish - still dig those sporty leather seats > 16 years on. These cars were built to last you a lifetime, not just a 3 year motor plan.

If you rock up at coconut grove with one these babies expect one two rigid stares ‘n all, hull dey smaak these cabs.

Drab Scene - Lumma M6 CLR 600
One doing the mail rounds, worth a look – modified by a company called “Lumma”, it’s an M6 with a carbon fibre body kit, some evil looking 20 inch rims & upgraded brakes for an ungoverned top speed. of 300Kmh – check it…

The Peugeot 907 concept, a 6 liter V12 capable of 373Kw. The Kari Bilari

Mr B – If you got a set of GLI seats for sale lemme know.
