THEATER OF DREAMS

I thought since the MANCS dont wanna apply for the THEATER OF DREAMS post Il have to start it off till I get a writer. I got one for Arsenal.
So bare with me, Il try not to be biased.........I said I will try. But look at the following piece from Goal.com

"Ferguson: Ronaldo Needs More Protection Cristiano Ronaldo is being targeted by cynical opponents and needs to be better protected by referees. That, anyway, is the view of his Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United are enjoying a rich vein of form and on Saturday against Middlesbrough scored four goals a fourth consecutive match for the first time in a century.
Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo are clicking impressively and the goals are flowing a a result.
But United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is concerned that Ronaldo is becoming a victim of less gifted but cynical opponents.
He he believes that opposition crowds are also turning referees against the Portuguese winger.
Ferguson said: “I am worried too many defenders are pursuing a policy of stopping Ronaldo by fair means or foul.
“Some of the tackles on him have been ridiculous this season.
“I don’t mean defenders should let him through, but I do expect refs to protect him more.
“I expect opposition fans to boo our man but I don’t expect refs to be influenced by the hostility.
“Special players like Ronaldo, whom fans want to see play, need to be encouraged rather than kicked out of the game,” added Ferguson"

Now here is my say...Does this handbag wearing,Louie Vittone Lity need protection or is he a DIVER of supreme note. Why does the blog call him Penaltino.

So no Lambichore (long story) here. Does the lity need protection or does he look for it.

Look MANCS. Im not saying he is a s#4t player. He is Class but again the QUESTION IS

DOES HE NEED PROTECTION OR DOES HE MAKE A MEAL OF THINGS AND DIVE. Speaking of diving he and some other lads did sum diving off other sorts when they entertained chics at the Summit, I mean Ronaldos pool party.

BEST OF THE BEST FANTASY LEAGUE

As we had into November at least I can say I havent felt the stench at the bottom of the league. It must be dark there. I find myself surprisingly 4th in a heavy shooting draw there. You can just see Man utd have been playing well with the resurgence of Pops & Herbly FC. I took a bet with herbly FC. More details on the bet later. For now though Im enjoying my spell in the TOP 10. Anxious Anfield as Rafa ruffles the Liverbird feathers

Ejaz Khan

Crouch sizzles as Riise, Hyppia and Kuyt fizzle out. Is a cleanout on the cards at Anfield ?

Liverpool and Arsenal squared off at a wonderfully vibrant Anfield full of anticipation as the pressure mounts on the Reds to stand up and be counted.

The substitution at Everton had clearly had an effect on Steven Gerrard and shaken him up back into the superstar of old, The Gerrard we know can pull the strings and dictate a game from start to end. The Gerrard versus Fabregas encounter brought out the best in Stevie G, and Fabregas was not allowed to conduct the Gunner symphony but did orchestrate and finish a well-taken equalising goal.

Gerrard’s might have been overshadowed but he was not outclassed by any means. John Arne Riise teed up his skipper and Almunia had no time to even move, such was the quality and power of the strike. The goal set Anfield alight, and the Reds fans were back at their vociferous best cheering every tackle, getting behind every attack and shouting ''man on'' like Rafa’s 45 000-strong team of watchmen.

Liverpool have the best supporters in the world, if you just give it your all, they will back you with all they have. And that is the biting truth as pointed out by my colleague Mamz Wadee. Lacklustre players like Riise, Sami Hyppia and falling star Dirk Kuyt have only to look back at their performances and see how little they give to their loyal supporters. Breadcrumbs most of the time.

One thing that has been irking me for a while is the constant blind support for Kuyt to start and indeed complete the entire game. The most commonly used phrases to describe Kuyt is “very hard working”. But Instead of working hard, he should be working smart. We have enough hard working midfielders, so he renders our strike force a man down when he comes deep and leaves a man less in the strike force to finish off chances. Yesterday Rafa asked him to do a role on the right, and boy did he do everything other than deliver. He is too slow, his first touch resembles my 14 year old cousin, and she hardly plays football. Come January, he is one of the players who just aren’t cut out for the New Liverpool post Yank takeover. Rafael Benitez should be able to show the same ruthlessness shown by the likes of Sir Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho and Indeed Arsene “the whinger” Wenger. All of these coaches have, at some point or the other, released or sidelined players who were deemed to be in effective, regardless of their “Fan Favourite tags or popularity amongst the players. We all remember Ferguson giving Beckham the boot(literally) and Van Nistelrooy brushed aside, regardless of being a goalscorer of note. He might be scoring goals by the bucket loads in Spain, but United have still managed to win the league without his services. Will Rafa be able to let go off a player he brought to the club, or will he feel obligated to make him a success, time will tell, but time waits for no man.

Moving on to another sore point, one which seems to be hitting a nerve with most Liverpool Supporters. The big or rather tallest debate of all, The Crouch Debate.
Why is Peter Crouch not in the starting line-up baffles the mind. The little drips and drabs that we’ve seen of him have been promising, and his impact upon introduction against Arsenal proved he is worthy of a start, and Liverpool looked far more menacing with him on the field. He held up ball, drove powerful shots from far out and linked up smoothly with Gerrard, who almost grabbed a late winner running on to a perfectly weighted chested ball from the lanky striker.

Benitez, all footballing expertise aside, seems to be losing his biggest asset, the fans. Visuals of Reds supporters shouting profanities at Riise and Hyppia doesn’t bade the Spaniard well. He needs to get it right before his tenure resembles Souness/Houllier proportions. Liverpool can certainly play the pass and move game, though somehow Rafa needs to get that aspect back into the training, alongside dealing with high balls for our defenders, which continues to expose our fragility at the back. Most supporters would have preferred to see Arlvaro Arbeloa fill in for waste of Space Hyppia occupies, or even let Sissoko take up the challenge for the cause of his team. One things for sure, Benitez will have to spend in January, and the cleanout should begin with Riise and Hyppia first on the list.Kuyt in a close third, but we will wait to see if Rafa will keep faith his off the pace “striker” – Penalty specialist for now .

All in all , another draw at Anfield, but against Arsenal, the best playing team in the premiership, all is not lost, yet.
Seeing Red supporters leaving earlier had better have caught Rafa’s eye, and its up to him to get back some momentum.
Rest assured that Rafa will not be resting assured. Anxious times, but a few wins on the trot and all will be forgotten.
Or will it?

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

After Liverpools recent Run of form and my stint designing the Rashid Cassim Sports Web Site I chatted to an Azaadville lad that works there.

He said "What happened against Besiktas Swoosh. You owes are f$5ked"

I looked at the Adidas poster and Said "Nothing is impossible"

He said "Nothing is impossible. Those are just Big words said by small Men"

I quietly exited the building

WEEKLY SOCCER ROUND UP-WE DREW WITH THE LEAGUE LEADERS

Another weekend gone and despite the backlash we recieved last week the lads from the Kop and Myself hoped to start the new week with a bang. But f#$K it, The only good thing this weekend was eating some Game Wors made from Springbok at a family braai. Juve fricken lost on Saturday and the humdinger between Arsenal awaited.

FROM THE KOP END AND ALWAYS A GUNNER

I had to watch this game and it was a cracker. Benitez packed the midfield but what I cant understand is that we packed the midfield without wingers and had an out and out striker like Crouch on the Bench. Crouch I thought would have been a menace against guys like Toure who is a f#$ken strong and class defender. Gerards opener was a thumper and I thought that would have set the stage for the onslaught. Instead we were lucky and Arsenal who I think play the most attractive soccer in the Premiership were menacing. The Boy Fabregas is CLASS and we were lucky as they struck the woodwork twice. MACHERANO I THOUGHT had an exellent game and despite the draw and the jeers from Faaiz Oz and his Arsenal contingent a point we will settle for against the best team in the premiership.

And although we were outplayed and least Liverpool were fluid in some rare patches. I say rare. But Rafa playing two strikers as wingers. What the F#$k man. Maybe Babell would have exploited Arsenal's attacking Full Backs.

But We were outplayed and outgunned. Anyone disagree. The most important thing though is that all is not lost. We sixth. Its still early and we not out of EUROPE by no means. I just hope the f#$ken Arses beat the MANCS next week. I watched the game with Shazo, Joe Asmal AND MAMOO. So it was two against two. But We need to wake up and start being consistant. Once again a three points has gone.

THEATER OF DREAMS
What was the score again. 4-1 WAS IT. Tevez ,Rooney and the claim for Goal of the season by Nani. Goal of the season ,I dont think so. I think Benitez was better. But the MANCS keep rolling on. Credit to them and despite my anger and ill feeling, the f#4ken MANCS are right up there. Next week Arsenal will make us all Happy. But Wayne who !Wayne f$5king Rooney seems to be back with vengeance. I hope I also get a good response from the MANCS for the THEATER OF DREAMS POST.

CHEL$KI
Loks. 6 AGAINST Svens Man City. Thats a f#4ken brilliant result. Remember the feeling when the Ansi's (principals) and bastard teachers used to cane you with Six of the Best. Its a horrible feeling. Ask me we caught a six yesterday in the knockouts. But against a resurgent MAN CITY team. It was an exellent result. Now this was a wedding with Ismael Akoodies Deg Chows
Elsewhere in the Premiership a good win for Blackburn and a belter from Benni. Good to see Bilal on the scoresheet. Spurs were led by Clive Allen. This oke used to put way back in the day. But all eyes were on Anfield.

SPANISH LA LIGA
Madrid and Barcelona got their feet back and despite a slow start by Madrid , They got the result through Raul. Ti Ti and Messi were on target also. Someone told me that Ronaldinho is coming to Chelsea. Is this true?

SERIE A
Inter drew. Juve lost and Milan lost. What is happening to Milan. Are they in the Top ten this year. I know there are plenty of Rossineri supporters out there. Roma minus Totti delivered teh Knockout at the San Siro. Bring Jose I say and tell Ancelotti to f#4k off . His time is up

FORZA JUVE
We lost 3-1 to Napoli. Thats a bad result. Particularly the way results went in the rest of Serie A. This time Juve had to push up from 3rd/But Im surprised. I never expected to be third at this point. Again the Juve fans were irate by the terrible referee. Is the Claciopli incident still haunting Juve. The ref was appaling again. Once agian Del Piero got on the scoresheet.Thats great news for the Captain and Juve

ALTAAF KAZI IN PAKISTAN

MULTAN MOCKERY

Try finding Multan in the cities I’ve visited section on Facebook, well you’ll have to try very hard because I for one wanted to add it…
But after spending a few days in this dreary and uneventful city it became obvious just why Multan does not seem to find a place on the maps of Facebook…
There’s absolutely nothing one can do to keep yourself occupied and if boredom was a cause of death, well then Multan is the place you’d want to breathe your last dose of oxygen……

Now my further searches on Multan revealed that Alexander the Great in his travels around the world visited Multan back in the day…I’m sure like myself he couldn’t wait to make an exit…

The only reason why I’m here is because of cricket…it took me five hours by road, sharing it with donkey’s, goats, sheep, bicycles, motorbikes, trucks, busses, human beings all fighting for a coveted spot of tar and at some points gravel…I know I’m used to the luxuries of comfortable traveling but I don’t mind roughing it up…this though goes beyond roughing it…

Anyway, the city itself is cramped…only one decent hotel that looks more fortress than a hotel with all the security around it…and you guessed no place for myself or the crew traveling with me…

We get booked into a hotel called the Fiesta Inn…a 22 roomed block that smells of paint and unfinished building…My worst nightmare…no broadband, no wi-fi…nothing…This renders me useless as I depend on modern technology to get my work back to South Africa…Modern Technology has not made it’s way to Multan yet…After seeing my irritation without even checking in yet, the manager arranged dial-up for me, taking someone’s home phone line, and threading it through my window…I almost forgot dial-up still existed and it takes some getting used to…

Don’t even mention breakfast at our hotel…the waiters don’t know what sausages are and toast for them is bread warmed up in the microwave…I kid you not, I thought if I can’t get an omlette with sausages the least I could eat was toast and jam…yeah right, when my ‘toast’ arrived it was glorified hot bread!!!

Altaaf, enough complaining, you’ll be in Lahore in 16 hours from now….

ALTAAF KAZI FROM PAKISTAN

GOODBYE FAISALABAD

So my whistle stop tour of Faisalabad lasted all of just four days…It was fun though, but the dust has had my sinuses running back to Lahore for fresh air!!! Well more cleaner air maybe!!!

The Proteas were once again outplayed…I still don’t believe they have a plan to counter the Pakistani spinners in the middle of the innings…It wasn’t riveting cricket at all at the Iqbal stadium, although it was a pleasure to watch Shahid Afridi and Abdul Rehman, contrasting spinners, do their job efficiently…Pakistan’s fielding has also improved tremendously…It was the best I’ve ever seen them field…

As for Protea selections, I still believe there’s a player or two that shouldn’t be playing right now. There just doesn’t seem to be plan, however if you going to lose wickets regularly, then no plan in the world will come to fruition…

As for the rest of my time, I’ve seen some weird things in the city centre…Like all on the sub continent, it’s congested…And with so many cars parked illegally, they don’t have tow trucks to tow them away…Instead, they forklift the car up and you’ll see these forklift machines similar to the ones at Africa cash and carry taking them to the compounds…It’s hilarious…

Well I’m packed and ready to go, dreading my four hour drive to Multan in intense heat…All I know about Multan is what one SA journalist told me before…If you compare it with Ermelo, well then Ermelo is like the size of Johannesburg compared to Multan…You make up your mind!!!

CIAO for Now…

From The Kop End

Liverpool Crouching for Besiktas
Ejaz Khan

Liverpool loss to Besiktas has been a shock of extraordinary proportion, as the Reds now certainly have one foot out of Europe’s elite competition. Once again, Sami Hyppia scores at the wrong end, and hopefully he won’t get his third against Arsenal on Saturday. Hopefully he won’t be playing at all. Rafa should seek the services of the Oxygen tent that helped speed Rooney’s recovery from a similar metatarsal injury, and keep Agger in Intensive care, because his return is vital. Rafa should consider throwing the likes of Jack Hobbs into the thick of things, I’m sure the teenage defender, cannot do any worse than the ageing Finn. The biggest problem in this all important fixture is the absence of one name in the starting lineup, that of Peter Crouch. Fans are besides themselves with theories as to why he does not feature so often for Liverpool. Surely he is fit and ready, patiently waiting his turn. It was the same problem last year in the Champions league final, the instant he came on, the Reds looked to score, and his height causes problems for the best defence, anywhere in the world. So why keep him languishing on the bench, when ANYONE can see his an asset to the club. Steven Gerrard’s bullet header into the top corner yesterday, came shortly after Crouch was introduced, and one has to wonder, as was the case in the Champions league final in May, if he came on earlier, would it have been a different storyline.
Ifs and buts don’t change the scoreline, and I’m pretty sure Peter Crouch will most certainly be losing patience. Sure, he might feel obligated to Rafa for sticking with him through his lengthy barren spell during his early days at Anfield, but surely he doesn’t have to payback with Bench time. Crouch is a wonderful footballer, and contrary to the common misconception, his strength is with the ball at his feet, hence the “Crouchinho” tag. We saw with his hat-trick against Arsenal last year that his quick feet are proportionate to his height - right up there ! Has there been a breakdown in the relationship between Benitez and Crouch ? Is the Tall Man on his way out? Speaking of which, I really hope that John Arne Riise is going to Villa, and if they don’t buy him, I beg Rafa to pay them to take him. He is so average that It amazes me as to just how he sustains his place in the team.Aah Yes, by default, there’s no one else to compete with him for his place, so I guess its ok, being in the team as an outball specialist. Seems to throw further than he passes, I think most Liverpool supporters will agree that one spectacular goal a season is far from below par for Liverpool, and thanks , but no thanks Riise, go well and Take Sami Hyppia with you please ! The most positive aspect to come out of last night’s loss is that Steven Gerrard has managed to demonstrate that he still has that fight and bite in his game. He tackled all game, he made himself available to collect balls from the defense and was almost at the end of a good number of chances,a nd scored a sublime header. Basically, last night we saw the Gerrard we know who can turn on the style and his header was top-class. There is one concerning factor that troubles me somewhat…That Liverpool have this uncanny ability to make ordinary opposition look great. Besiktas were beaten by everyone else in the group, and Liverpool made things difficult for themselves. I must say there supporters provide quiet a blanket of noise and the tin can that hit Jermaine Pennant must have scared his socks off. I would rather he pull up his socks, Pennant is another player who can’t seem to take the ball forward and for all his step-overs and trickery only manages running parrarel to the poles, as does Javier Mascherano whenever the opposing team invitingly allow him to come forward. I think he has been worked out now by most team, he just can’t get forward or be any assistance in attack. Dirk Kuyt did virtually nothing all night and Voronin couldn’t take the few chances that cames his way. Steve Finnan seems to have lost a couple of yards overnight, so Rafa has his work cut out ahead of Arsenal on Sunday. All in all a poor performance from the Reds, and they will need to work extra hard against the Gunners who will be looking to exploit the disappointment of the Besiktas loss. Not an easy time in Rafa’s tenure, by any means, the fans wait to see what character the Reds are made of ,once again….

FROM THE KOP END

Initially, the shock of seeing Steven Gerrard being substituted overwhelmed me. I mean, what was Rafa thinking ? Now in hindsight, it seems fortune really does favour the brave, as it was the inspired change bringing on Lucas Leiva that led to the second goal, Leiva's shot heading for the top corner, only to be brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Phil Neville… say what ? Step up Dirk Kuyt, and even a couple of fingers by the REAL Keeper couldn’t keep the shot out ,and Liverpool won in the dying minutes of the Merseyside derby at Goodison park on Saturday. Dirk Kuyt's second conversion from the penalty spot, everton's second Red card of the match. The world’s eyes and indeed camera’s focused on a clearly enraged Steven Gerrard, as he trotted off, and one could almost here Gerrard’s thoughts aloud (“Subsitute Me, in the Merseyside derby, how dare you Rafa?”)Though after the final whistle blew one could see the obvious delight on his face, and I’m sure he understood Rafa’s brillantly decision making.
Now lets look at the possible reasons for Rafa taking him off at that crucial time.
Number one – Besiktas away on Wednesday. The Reds need their talismanic captain to be fresh, Rafa’s "go word" at present. Rafa took him off shortly after his blasting run that led to the first penalty…why ? One reason is that the Everton players were angry as hell , and a few wild tackles, were sure to follow, and the last thing Liverpool needed was another injury. Well done Benitez for your foresight, it has duly been noted.
Number two – Keeping Stevie and Co on their toes. For all his passion, Gerrard is still not firing on all cylinders, and just when he started to influence the game, he was substituted. This can only spur him on further to up his game tempo and regain the confidence of the fans. And we all know how Stevie hates being substituted, even more so in the family splitting Merseyside Derby. I can feel the intensity of his performance on Wednesday already…!
Number three - Benitez showing to one an all that NO-ONE is bigger than the club, not even a super star in the mould of Stevie G. This will serve well as a clear message that no one should ever try and hold the club ransom, nor be able to slip into a comfort zone allowing for complacency and lack luster performances to go unnoticed. Don’t perform consistently, you will be replaced, sharpish ! That will allow the player to be constantly challenged and thereby keeping is playing levels at a top levels more often than not.
Number four – Having faith in all players , young and old, to come in and do a job, and well too - This is one that will serve the likes of Ryan Babel, Jermaine Pennant and of course Lucas Leiva, young bloods hoping to make an impact.
Benitez has stated clearly that those players doing well in training , will be given the chance to prove themselves on matchday, and Lucas Leiva must be performing enormously well in training, to earn a chance under so much pressure, he came on and played exceptionally well in his 20 minutes on the pitch. It is clear that Benitez clearly know what he is doing, and fans should trust in his judgement. Fans like myself, who pull out chunks of hair when Sami Hyppia is on the field, have to bear in mind that the coach can only use what he has at his disposal. The loss of Daniel Agger for the Reds, has actually proven how valuable the defender really is, and Rafa and staff should take the compliments of unearthing this gem of a player before others could snatch him up. They should also, find a twin to Agger - young, creative, solid and a definite options enhancer, so we can give Sami his benefit match, and lay him down softly on the road to retirement, as his best playing days are clearly in the past, and that too not too recent. His performance on Saturday was shocking, he never managed to get two inches off the ground, and the Reds aerial threat problem seems magnified by ten when one considers that he only manged to win ONE header in 90 odd minutes. Rafa will have to splash the cash on a replacement for Hyppia, all sentiments aside. The one thing Liverpool supporters should not overlook is that Liverpool are winning away from home more consistently and far earlier than last season around this time. It can only prove that Liverpool are on the up.Now with Besiktas on Wednseday and Arsenal on the weekend, a stern test of liverpool's resolve.Steven Gerrard will have played 20 minutes less football and ready for the two matches that could decide Liverpool’s season, though we’re only in October.

Liverpool seem to thrive on being in positions of near hopelessness, and that is when they are most dangerous, as Steven Gerrard will most certainly tell you or just watch the Highlight DVD’s, they tell it like no other : ” Steven Gerrard , you beauty, what a hit son, WHAT A HIT” – Andy Gray More of that please Stevie…Its Olympiakos all over again…and we all know what happened that night and many thereafter , right ?

FORMULA 1-FERARI FROM THE DEAD

All HAIL ICE COOL KIMI RAIKKONEN & SCUDERIA FERRARI MARLBORO!!!

What a race, what a season and what a result. Breathtaking all of it, which rightfully brought the deservedly winner after trailing Hamilton by 26 points in June! After a difficult start and a season which had its highs and lows Ferrari have 2 titles, nine wins, four one-two finishes, nine pole positions, and 12 fastest laps. So the question is how to lose a championship that you lead?
A championship that is made for you? Is it the Ferrari designed McClaren?
Just ask Hamilton, When it mattered most, he wilted in the heat. This seemingly unflappable character, a young man who has been the epitome of Cool Britannia throughout his inaugural year, finally succumbed to the pressure and, for one costly moment, behaved like the naive, 22-year-old rookie he was supposed to be! A Tarnished week for British sport, the slap of the 2 McClarens and a Rugby defeat left them shut!
This is probably the result of the adoration and hype exhibited by the British tabloid press in his name; we all dislike such ignorant and one-sided nonsense…

Well done to Team Ferrari for showing such determination, courage and will power…

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2007

The blog will remain green and gold this week. While we wit for Scrumhalf AM's article Let me give you my verdict of the final. My crew watched the game at Monte Casino. The atmosphere was electric. We couldnt get into the Rugby Village for the game but we got in after. SUBLIME AND ELECTRIC.Cant describe the atmosphere. The place went stark raving mad. Monte itself was a cauldron. We got some footage before and after ,caught up with a few people.Once again it was dark outside in the rugby village. The videos will describe the atmosphere. At about 1 we hit the streets,I expected a party on the streets but I made the wrong call. I guesss the final was late and not early as in 95.We didnt bypass Melville. With Mohamed Kaloo piloting the Swoosh mobile we draped a flag at the back ,put Faaiz Oz and Mamoo in the back and set off thumping the hooters. The streets were quite but TIESTO was...........rocking.

The game itself was a bit boring.Skop Skiet and DONDER but how could we miss out on the atmosphere. The rest of the article I leave to the Scrumhalf AM. I must admit Scrumhalf you got it right.I quite enjoyed your articles and hopefully you will stay on with us in the Rugby department. But I await your analysis . BUT WHAT A SAD WEEK FOR ENGLAND. THE EURO CHAMPS IN SOCCER,LOSING THE RUGBY AND LEWIS HAMILTON LOSING THE F1 RACE

Swoosh

We did it but give England credit! They gave us a run for it! It was tight, and dominated by the boot. The 2 younger guys on the field, Steyn and Tait were the only ones to play with real flair. But that’s how finals are won teams don’t take risks and want to play in the opposition half. We came up massive in the lineouts, and after all the talk about the England scrum, OS, CJ AND SMIT were huge. We could have scored a try just before half time but we got three points instead. Cueto’s try will be argued about for years to come. SA supporters will say it was not and England will say it was or the benefit of the doubt must go to the attacking team. I think it was just out. Credit to the England team, they have not moaned and bitched about it and accepted the result. Mind you the press in England have slated the decision! It was a huge turning point! In the end I guess the better team over the entire 7 weeks won and that is important! The defense in the 2nd half was great. Not only to keep them out but not to give away penalties.

Was it not great to see Mbeki lifted aloft with the cup? Great scenes! Got a bit of the celebrations at Melrose Arch, and it was unbelievable. The lads with me were going crazy but these things happen once in a blue moon. It was like rolling back the years to 95 and 96 with the two big wins! Newtown as well was a buzz as we drove through! Sublime! Also great to see the celebrations in the townships, they may not know a lot about rugby and it is a predominantly white team but they got behind the team and for that we have to show respect to the black people of SA. They are 100% behind the team which is wonderful of them.

In the aftermath, the questions begin? Will white stay on? What will happen to the guys going to play in France? What will happen with transformation? 12 years ago we lost the plot after the win. We need to harness this win and its impact and grow the game!
We have 1 more final the currie cup to look forward to! This Saturday, Cheetahs v Lions in Bloem. Will preview later in the week! For now: “WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!”

JET FUEL ONLY

While we waiting for Mr B. I thought let me put up a picture of a Black Beast terrorising Gauteng.it belongs to the man they called JET FUEL ONLY.We will be profiling this vehicle later. For now...here are the pics of a car known as "THE BLACK IBLIS"

Now I had the priviledge of sitting in this Khoshesha.F#4KEN FAST

WEEKLY SOCCER ROUND UP

Amidst the rugby celebrations Rashid Cassim phoned me at about 12.30 pm. His words were

"I am phoning you in advance.Quote me. I woke up with the same feeling I had in Istanbul.Today we will get three points.Make no mistake"

And this coming from a man that predicted the World Cup Final and Istanbul

FROM THE KOP END

I phoned Rash when we were 1-0 down. Still he was persistant that Liverpool will get the result. Then 1-1 and we were raining down on the Everton goal. But it wasnt coming. I phoned Rash. We agreed that at that level there is no excuse not to finish against 10 men. Veronin and Sisoko -criminal. And then came the penalty.Kuyt stepped up and sneaked,I say sneaked it in. Rash called me and said..........".What did I say."

Just then Lescott went tumbling down and Seth was the first on the phone to say what Cheaters we are. But it happens to Utd all the time. If you look at it Caragher was like a walking stick for Lescott. The man hung on Caragher and leaned against him like his blomming on the cafe wall. Not a thourough Liverpool prformance but 3 valuable points leading into a crucial fortnight. That explains the Liverpool players celebations. And the Gerard subsitute Im loss for words. Can any Kop owe explain this phenomina. And Gerard on the left. Why didnt Benitez give him the free role behind a striker.Well lucky we won the Derby.Thats all that counts

THEATER OF DREAMS

Wayne who.Wayne f$5king Rooney.the lad seems to be coming into his element and so does the whole Manc Team and Dunya (WORLD ) of MANCS. They just seem to be getting better and better and are not allowing any mishaps. A worrying and tell tale sign. Riza from Aston Villa.A few words maybe. Villa's 9 men crushed by the MANCS. I expected more from villa

CHEL$KI
Who let the Drog out again. The man wants to leave and then the man puts away. Have we forgotten about Chelsea. Are they still title contenders Loks.Luqman Are you owes competing for the title or restructuring. Again its that wedding but no Deg Chows. Some missing element here. Then again maybe Im wrong

GUNNERS POINT OF VIEW.
Arsenal are playing like a machine gun and machine gun is playing like arsenal. Jive,Zam Ram and Faiz OZ. iM SHOCKED. The toppie Wenger is a magician. And Bolton were always your Da Da's )grandfathers. So its a 4 horse race if we include Chelsea.

Apart from that Benni seemed to have got a lease of life after the ITALIAN 3 rd team pumped Bafana.Good wins for West ham. At least we can see a Dr Martins top in the plaza .Havent seen at at Waris for a while

SPANISH LA LIGA
Riyad Loonat ,the only Madrid man on the blog gets a taste of his first defeat. And so did Barca. I tried phoning the man but no answer. But good for the cause of the League.Nice to see surprises now and then.Let valencia and the likes come up.

ITALIAN SEIRE A
Milan shocked, losing 1-0. Theres a crisis here Im telling you. Jose are you at the catwalks of Milan. Get ready you will recieve a call up soon.Inter make it four in a row. Milan have not won at the San Siro and have 10 points after 8 games.AC MILAN Im talking about,Fiorentina and Roma keep up the pressure

LOCAL ROUND UP
All I can say here is Etugral had a stick in his hand and was furious. 5 games now chiefs. Will the Kaka's of SA please comment for Chiefs
FORZA JUVE
And Forza Alex Del Piero. After penning a deal that keeps him in Turin till 2010,Pintruchio netted and gave Juve 3 points against Genoa. The officiating in the game was apalling.Del Piero was hacked all the time.Nedveds frustration boiled over and he got red carded. Then the TINKERMAN GOT HIS MARCHING ORDERS.In an ugly game we got three points and DEL PIERO is back with a sublime finish.
Forza Juve
Always a Bianconeri

ALTAF KAZEE FROM PAKISTAN ON BOK CELEBRATION

A NIGHT OF CELEBRATION – LAHORE STYLE
BY: ALTAAF KAZI
The less said about the second ODI the better…South Africa only have themselves to blame for allowing Pakistan back into the series…
No demons in the wicket and 266 was certainly gettable by their standards…They made a complete hash of the run chase – this even after the Pakistani fielders dropped 5 catches…
However no sooner had I got back to my hotel did the celebrations start…I thought mine would start at 2am coz I was always confident the BOKS would lift the William Web Ellis trophy…Not to be though, a band was outside to greet us with some wonderful tunes and I thought here we go again, me getting Royal Treatment…I looked behind me and there were a group of people, elegantly dressed in Pakistan’s finest traditional clothing…I soon realized the music procession was to welcome a bride to be – it was her big night…just like the Springboks…
You see, the centrally located Pearl Continental Hotel or PC is the other happening spot in Lahore…here with it’s 7 different types of restaurant and a mini mall as well, the high society flyers of Lahore make their presence felt…My immediate reaction upon arrival on Wednesday was to think that a wedding was taking place…I quickly learnt that if you come to the PC to socialize you have to dress for the occasion…Status is a huge thing in Pakistan as people continue to want to out do each other…Almost like Laudium(just Joking!!!)
So back to the wedding…lots of noise…lots of colour and there were four of them on Saturday night…But as much as these newly wed couples thought that their occasion was the highlight of the evening, it just couldn’t match what the Bokke had planned for us!!
Kick-off was midnight Lahore time and the Proteas team room on the 6th floor was packed to capacity…The noise and cheers while singing the national anthem reverberated through the hotel, out doing and out performing the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan wannabe down stairs…Curious onlookers peeped through the room, but they failed to understand what all the fuss was about…Nevertheless for the next 2 hours we all sat nervously at times watching John Smit’s men relive 1995….
The final whistle sparked further wild celebrations that at the time of writing was still going on…I’m missing out so I’m going to have to end this here….
I’m proud to be South African…Lahore will always be a special place for me…50 years down the line I’ll remember this day – the day I saw the Boks win the world cup for a second time – and who would’ve thought I’d be in Lahore to witness it…
Room 642 will never be the same again!!!
It’s party time and the babalas that follows will be worth it for many people I guess…
As for me, I aint gonna sleep now, although its 4:05am…Faisalabad beckons and I’m being picked up in 5 hours time for the trek by road…
I’ll miss Lahore…

ALTAAF KAZI IN PAKISTAN

SECURITY and BOMBS
By: ALTAAF KAZI

It’s been a well documented fact that the Proteas and the Pakistani’s have been subjected to the most severe security presence ever…Not a wink goes by without a security guard or a member of the Lahore Elite Police force noticing it…If they miss it, then be sure to know that the UC’s or under cover dudes will catch it!!!
My palatial Pearl Continental hotel resembles something of a fortress…
Three electronic check points confronts anybody hoping to make it to reception…before that it’s open your bonnet of your car, lets look in the boot and your under carriage which is fast starting to irritate Hamid, my eccentric Manchester friend who’s quadrupling up as my driver/translator/co-ordinator and the fourth trait is debatable!!!

But I’m managing and it can be a real pain in the you know what, but security is security and I’d rather be safe than sorry…somehow I don’t think any security measure is going to stop a suicide bomber which brings me to my next point…How do you stop a suicide bomber…20 000 coppers couldn’t do it in Karachi and the one thousand or so who protects the Proteas and Pakistan certainly won’t…And now the news on the ground is that South Africa will travel to Karachi and will also play the rest of their tour…

Oh by the way, one always thought that the AK 47 was a weapon that had its home in South Africa…Well think again…I’ve seen more AK 47’s in Lahore than anywhere else…Every policeman has one…Imagine how our South African men in blue would love to be in that position…

Well as for the rest of the day, I got a true taste of local food and shared my first ever meal with flies…you know how people talk about India and there’s always flies, it felt like that today when I bought a burger from a street vendor in the middle of town…I must add that I’m quite impressed by my sense of adventure…I do believe I have a stomach compliant with most cities and food in the world…

The bomb has also had an effect on my financial state…the Pakistani rupee dropped significantly and I kinda felt cheated after exchanging my hundred dollars this afternoon…And to all you Grey’s Anatomy fans, I couldn’t find season 4 at all at the plethora of DVD shops but I’ll keep trying….

Oh and a quick update on the Proteas camp is that Vernon Philander is on his way back to SA. He’s not recovered from his hamstring injury… If form is anything to go by, the Proteas are likely to take a 2 nil lead in the series on Saturday….

GO BOKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEE in Paris….

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2007,FINALS PREVIEW

ANGLO BOER WAR:
By SCRUMHALF AM

Six weeks on and we are here the final of RWC 2007. I doubt many would have predicted the two finalists six weeks ago, but so be it they are there on merit. I think the 36-0 loss by England needs to be forgotten, they will be a different team. Its a final and they will be up for it. In the week they have talked up SA as they want to go in as the underdogs. But they know they have a good chance at winning it.
England have lost Josh Lewsey, but for that they are at full strength. They will play the same game keep it tight up front and use wilko to collect points. They don’t have a lot of talent in the backs apart from Robinson and Sackey who has gas. They scrum has been talked about a lot and they will be force in the scrums. In essence they will be preying on the boks mistakes. If England win it will be by very few points.

SA have to make sure they don’t give away penalties in there own half. They need to spread it out wide as England’s defense in the backs is shaky. If we get parity in the scrums we have the talent to beat them easily. Sad to see Bob not in the side, as seth will testify the guy has class, but great to see wikus get a spot on the bench. To my lads who were regulars at cats and lions super 14 games they will know how much we appreciate wikus our captain. The boks are favorites and rightly so, as they are unbeaten. They have a more balanced team. The boks should do it.

Our blood is green and we behind the boks but questions have to be asked about transformation. In 1995 we had 1 guy of colour in Chester and now 12 years on we have 2! Has there been sufficient change? I doubt it? Yeh there are guys in the squad, but only 2 in the team! Not on! Lets hope after the cup win or loose that rugby gets truly integrated into sa.

On a final note whatever happens tomorrow we will be saying goodbye to a legend in Piter “OS” Du Randt!

ALTAAF KAZI IN PAKISTAN

MY FIRST 24 HOURS ON THE SUB CONTINENT….
BY: Altaaf Kazi

Before I go any further, I must admit that for the last three years I’ve been itching to visit my ancestral home in India…Unfortunately that idea has failed to materialize but my dream of visiting the sub continent whether India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh or Pakistan has finally been realized…

It’s around midnight as my fingers take to the keyboard like a Shahid Afridi booming six…I’ve never been this excited and amazed as I landed in Lahore a little over 24 hours ago…I immediately felt like a king as I stepped off my Etihad Airways flight to see hundreds of people lining up the bridge adjacent to the arrivals terminal for what I thought to be a royal welcome…Little did I know that they just parked off there, chilling at the airport to kill evening time…I still felt privileged though as I saw my name on two boards…It turns out that due to a miscommunication, my hotel sent two drivers to pick me up…well at least that made me feel welcome in the country!!!

The drive to the hotel – well how we did not involve ourselves in a collision is a miracle…One things for sure, you’ll never see me driving in Pakistan…Motorcycles, bicycles, tricycles, tuk tuk’s and not to mention cars and trucks vie for any open space they can find…Lanes are disregarded and a mere waste of white paint…There’s no such thing as road rules and you never quite sure if you driving on the right side of the road.!!!

With that bit of complaining out of the way, the fun began…Lahore is a city that in my eyes never sleeps…late at night the hustle and bustle of life takes centre stage…The days leading up to my trip all I was thinking of was chicken tikka…and after indulging in a half a tikka chicken cooked up by Nawaz off some side street near my hotel, my taste buds were jostling for more…I had to restrain myself knowing that I still have at least two weeks to go so definitely there’ll be many more opportunities for tikka chows!!!

At the end of the day, I am here to report on the cricket…So here goes…The Gaddaffi stadium in Lahore rates as one of the best cricket stadium’s I’ve visited…Facilities were wonderful, access was quick and easy and I even got to sign an autograph…apparently standing in front of a camera makes you famous in this part of the world so I duly obliged…Thanks to the chefs who cooked lunch in the press box…I saw those degs of food arriving and the smell was overpowering…My wife has got to learn how to cook Nehari!!! Oh yes back to the cricket….It was a great win for the Proteas, Herschelle and AB were absolutely brilliant with the bat while Makhaya although taking some stick did the early damage with four wickets up front!!!

Well done boys!!!! Second ODI on Saturday, also in Lahore…

Stay tuned for more from Pakistan…

FORMULA 1

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN Brazilian Grand Prix

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN. THE LAST KNOCKINGS OF THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL SEASON IN F1 HISTORY AND IT COULD STILL GO ONE OF THREE WAYS.

Even after Stepneygate there are still ructions through the paddock. Max Mosley is in the dock for ridiculing one of motorsport's greatest ambassadors, Jackie Stewart. The FIA observer, brought in at Ron Dennis's behest, to check that everything is fair and equal in the McLaren garage is one of the biggest practical jokes of the season. It's a bit like asking your mum to check that everything's working optimally on your motherboard.

In F1 you need a thief to catch a thief and the only person who's likely to know if there are shenanigans going on is someone who works in a team. Fernando Alonso's Crystal Ball of Team Intentions isn't particularly reliable - when he was at Renault he accused them of not wanting him to win the World Championship with two races to go, when they so SO DID want to win it.

The fact that the FIA have agreed to a special scrutineer is yet another indication of the apartheid of F1. It's a wholly unwelcome precedent in a season of wholly unwelcome precedents.

Having won the race last year Felipe Massa will be keen to do it again, but there are strong factors working against him. Even though he might have the car to win it, Felipe will be playing the sandwich-filler role between himself and the McLarens. Fernando Alonso, of course, is quite happy for Felipe to be sandwich-filler providing he's between himself and Lewis Hamilton. That could easily happen. Lewis will have to hope that the team are a lot faster than the Ferraris or, ironically, a lot slower than the Ferraris, but quicker than the BMWs.

Sunday will be a momentous day whoever wins the drivers' title. It might be Raikkonen's first, and it would be well-deserved. It might be Alonso's third in a row, which would put him alongside Fangio and Schumacher. And it might just be Hamilton's first, which would almost defy the laws of nature. Let's hope half the globe is watching.

MID WEEK SOCCER ROUND UP-THE FLUTES HAVE STOPPED

England lost last night to Russia. It was described as a mad 6 minute spell.I apologise for the post not being visible.I as bazzling a bit with the new color schemes.

But anyways I tried to get a feedback from Moscow Fordsburg where the Guvee and Azee must have been gutted. This is a football tragedy.England losing to russia and the fate of Euro 2008 hanging in teh hands of Israel. I wonder if the GUVEE took his top off before he entered his TV room. But again Mclaren plays Downey. Why on Earth. Also he plays an inexperienced Lescott. Stevie G missed a guilt edged opportunity to bury the Russians. But I cant write here,im gutted. Bring Jose Mourinho and out with Mclaren. For f#$5ks sake how could he make heavy weather on himself and the English nation. Lets see what happens. A EURO CHAMPS without England is unfathomable.

Elsewhere the Azurri beat BAFANA. Seth you can say Im not patriotic but Im Azurri though and through and Yes I support the Boks. But thats a different sport.

Bafana I knew wont produce the goods.Donadoni played his youngsters and I am not big on friendly games.

With the Scots losing against Georgia it comes down to the Big day at Hampden Park next month.

Eslewhere there were no surprises. Lets wait till next month.

JET FUEL ONLY

NEWS – BEEMMER FEST– BLIKSEM!!
M3 Battles Begin
The new Blik on the Block just released locally has been subjected to some rigorous abuse. Will it rattle the opposition, let’s find out?

Round 1 –At the Gerotek vs. RS4
These German brutes slugged it out at highveld altitude in this month’s edition of Top Car at the Gerotek circuit. Head to Head the RS4 has a bigger V8 at 4.2 litres and as a result 30Nm more torque than the M3. Coupled with its Quattro drive you would think it should have better traction off the line but is regarded to be tricky to launch compared to the rear wheel driven M3. However the RS4 is the better handling car in the wet. But the M3 ended up being the quicker of the 2 by 0.3s in the 100Km/h sprint.
M3 posted 5,41s 0-100km/h against RS4 5.73s. 0-100km/h

Round 2 – In Colesberg vs. RS4
RS4’s revenge? Test conducted by “Cars In Action” mag, in Colesberg, cos its a one horse town where the speed traps cant read more than 100km. Altitude played a part once more at a over 1000ft. The RS4 came up trumps here in the 100Km/h sprint as well as the quarter mile.
RS4 – posted 5.4s 0-100km/h and 13.5s quarter mile &
M3 - 5.6s 0-100km/h and 13.8 quarter mile.

Round 3 – Two door coupes
This scintillating three-way clash of 2 door German coupes took place on Germany’s Autobahns & the Austrian Alps. A Porsche GT3 vs the contenders M3 and Audi R8. The M3 already with a limited top speed disability of 250Km/h, whilst the GT3 & R8 take full advantage of their power plants. The slick looking Porsche won the top end run hands down bolting to 308Km/h followed by the R8 at 300Km/h from its 4.2 litre V8. Next up – agility through the bends. The Porsche came up trumps again due to its lighter weight & super quick feet in the form of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Tires. It weighs almost 250 Kg less than the M3 & over a 150Kg less than the R8 giving it the edge in the corners. The flat six boxer GT3 blisters to the quickest 100Km/h time at 4.1 s followed by the R8 (4.4s) & M3 (4.7s). When the rain hit the R8 showed its true capabilities. Its Quattro drive enabled with a viscous limited slip proved to be the winner in the wet, with the M3 a close second aided by its M Variable Diff Lock. The Porsche however a tricky little number in the wet more suited to skilled drivers.
Verdict - The M3 costs a whole lot less compared to the R8 & GT3 , but the Porsche is in another league.
Performance at sea level
GT3 – 4.1 s Top speed: 308Km/h(305Kw)
R8 – 4.4s Top Speed 300km/h(309Kw)
M3 – 4.7s TS: 250Km/h(309Kw)

2008 M3 Saloon
Strange from the boys in Bavaria – a down graded M3. The Beemer boys are planning to release the M3 saloon which is slightly slower than the coupe because of added weight in the form of 4 doors & no carbon roof. It features the same 309Kw V8 & is due to launch next year.

IMPRESSIONS
Z4 M Coupe

Check It, Mr. B without blinking twice grabbed an opportunity to test drive the Z4 M Coupe. The car belongs to a connection that’s into the classic shoe look. If you from the west rand area you might unexpectedly notice this black bull of a car chase you down from seemingly impossible distances. Put your foot down & this car will catch the wind with the accuracy of a cross bowed arrow. We started out in sport mode which sharpens up the throttle response & firms up the suspension, the car felt scary in reverse. Using the smooth open route between Azaadville & Krugersdorp as my test platform the car seemed rigid & stuck like glue with brilliant acceleration. It was as simple as point and shoot with the 7500 rpm “reef” redline. Being still fairly new the motor naturally was a bit tight. With the traction control on there was no noticeable wheel spin through quick changes of its 6 speed manual. The car felt calm & at ease no matter the abuse I dished out, a real confidence builder. It has the same motor as the E46 M3 but weighs about 80Kg less. “Slimes” tells me he took on an RS4 in a robot to robot dice for a relatively long distance & his classic shoe stuck right with him. Da oke has a beard so let’s believe him. Big Up Slimes!!

Classic Performance - had my doubts about a red interior, but it’s quite sophisticated + Brutal exhaust note.

DRAG SCENE
325 IX
A unique 325 E30 which is apparently the only one in South Africa. The owner: Mr. Imtiaz Akbar gave me the low down on this unique left hand drive Beemer imported from the States. That’s right New Jersey to be precise back in 1996. Visually the car looks to be in immaculate condition, still in original spec with no mods except for the 17” BBS wheels & Alpina trim which accentuates the car perfectly. It houses a 2.5liter straight six M20 motor whipping out 125kw. That’s not the best part, huh? The car is actually a 4 wheel drive released to take on the might of Quattro at the time. It is for the ultimate BM enthusiast, Imtiaz still has the original receipt when the car was bought in the states. If you want more details mail me cos he’s looking for a buyer for this low mileage collector’s piece…
Pimp Master - X denotes 4 wheel drive, no the steering not missing it’s a left hand drive.

The Schnitzel
Debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show it’s the AC Schnitzer GP3. It runs off .liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). LPG emits about 20 percent less pollution & doesn’t seem to have any disadvantages, having the same octane rating as standard fuel. The schnitzel pumps out a manic 406kw from its M6 based V10 capable of 316Km/h. Even the performance guru’s are concerned about our garam doonya. (i.e. - Global warming)

Mr. B – want to feature a unique car, mail me > nismaniac@gmail.com
Thats right Mr B, if you owes the readers and maybe even chicks have some pics etc. Email Mr B. I know the guys have some demons in their yards.
Mamoo I still want that pics of that Golf 1 Ebie jay drove that scrops M3's. And we got a Iblees on Wheels coming soon Mr B. Maybe the owes have seen it in Lenz. THE PLATES ARE NOS 1 GP, and its JET FUEL ONLY ,TRUST ME.
