MIDWEEK SOCCER ROUND UP

FROM THE KOP END

Last night I recieved a pasting as usual from the MANCS, and they were not kind either. What I cant understand is why doesnt Benitez play Crouch.WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY. Can someone answer me. I have taken my wedding suit and placed it on the top shelf of my cupboard for next year. As for the penalty. EBie Kop End said it was a penalty. I couldnt watch the game as no DSTV at my grannys place but I was on line and noticed Babbel didnt even start. I hope we even come out fourth else we just have to win Europe again

THEATER OF DREAMS

The MANCS were phoning last night. All of them saying did you see that wonder goal, and what a free kick. I got the video. He just struck it man, and it swerved and dipped. I seen Del Piero take better free kicks. Even Wesley Shneider and Becks. But in context of the game, Glorious goal and the lity just keeps on scoring. And thats three points to the MANCS. I wont say more, the highlights below says it all

ALWAYS A GUNNER
Resolute performance from the Gunners on Tuesday Night. And Adebajour also keeps on scoring. But at least the Gunners are going head to head with the MANCS.

CHEL$KI
Quitely getting points after points. Someone told me, watch Michael Ballack. Pundits are also tipping Chelsea as dark horses to the title.
And the top four prevail. Riza good to see Villa climbing. You must be a happy Man..........

29/01/2008 12:49 Ferguson's Top Ten Manchester United Players Sir Alex Ferguson reckons Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs are the best to play for Manchester United since his arrival as manager on November 6th, 1986. Gil Gillespie begs to differ.

Now, if the longest serving boss in the Premier League had been talking about the club's greatest servants since his reign began in 1986, then Scholes and Giggs would have to be right up there, along with Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Brian McClair and Dennis Irwin. But, in truth, not many observers would put Giggsy and Scholesy at number one and two in a top ten of players who have served under Alex Ferguson. Compiling such a list is no easy task. First, there are the players that don't quite make it into the top ten. There is no room on this particular hall of fame for the following United legends:Gary Neville, because he is a great professional but by no means a great player, decent enough defensively but very average going forward.Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who spent 11 patient years at the club and was a useful little striker but never a world class one.Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister, who were, again, great servants, but journeymen defenders on a global scale.Jaap Stam, who despite being the finest centre-back in the Premier League at the time was booted out by Fergie after three years.Rio Ferdinand, doesn't make the cut because of his lapses in concentration that occur in every other game he plays in.Paul McGrath, although he is the greatest Irish defender of all time and did indeed look like Nelson Mandela's son.And neither do Paul Ince, Teddy Sheringham, Nicky Butt, Nemanja Vidic or the excellent Carlos Tevez. But the most glaring omission, and the one that's certain to receive the most criticism, is Wayne Rooney. Since his arrival on the Premier League stage, there is no doubt that Rooney has been a revelation. He is that most uncommon of English players - a technically-gifted second striker who is able to mesmerise and destroy in equal measures. He is still the only current member of the England football team who regularly uses the outside of his foot. But he doesn't make this list of United greats because he hasn't quite proved himself worthy of inclusion yet. The finest English talent since Gazza hasn't lived up to his potential. In fact, there is a genuine fear that he might even be going backwards as a player. His first touch, these days, is often heavy and sometimes even sloppy. He himself admits that he has lost the ability he used to have to go past defenders. And, against the classiest of opponents - AC Milan in last season's Champions League, for example - he can be nothing short of missing in action. So here, in order of greatness, are the best ten players to ever play under Sir Alex Ferguson at Man United.

1. Eric Cantona Not for nothing is he referred to as King Eric. The Rimbaud-quoting French genius who, in the words of Roy Keane, "glided into the arena as if he owned the f****** place," has to be number one. Cantona's influence on the club he joined from Leeds in 1992 is almost immeasurable. He changed the way they trained, changed the way they played, even the way they re-fuelled. As George Best, the greatest player to ever pull on a Reds shirt, once said; "I'd give all the champagne I've ever drunk to be playing alongside him in a big European match at Old Trafford."

2. Roy KeaneLike Cantona, Keane is a true maverick. And, like Cantona, he was not your average footballer. Intelligent, supremely focussed, slightly unhinged and a leader of men who was capable of grabbing a game, and his team-mates, by the scruff of the neck and literally forcing events to go his way. Who will ever forget his stellar performance in dragging a down-and-almost-out United side back from two goals down against Juventus in the Champions League semi-final of 1999 in Turin?

3. Peter SchmeichelNot so much a goalkeeper as a screaming, Rudolph-nosed, superhuman with the smothering capabilities of thousand goose-feathered pillows. He wore an XXXL shirt size. No other keeper, before of since, has been so commanding in his own area: his organisational skills and distribution saw him transcend the status of shot-stopper. In 2001 Schmeichel won a Reuters poll with more than 200,000 participants who voted him as the best goalkeeper of all time. The Old Trafford faithful reckon he was worth 12 points a season at least.

4. Bryan Robson Before Roy Keane, there was Bryan Robson. Captain Marvel led his team out onto the pitch for 12 years, making him the longest-serving skipper in Man United's history. Back in the 1980's, people used to call United a 'one-man team'. Robson was that man. A ferocious tackler with a habit of making perfectly-timed runs into the box, he was always at the centre of Ferguson's plans, everyone else rotating around his aggressive, match-winning aura. The epitome of the all-action modern midfielder.

5. Paul ScholesDespite growing up as an Oldham Athletic supporter, Paul Scholes has spent his entire career at Old Trafford. This small, quiet, asthmatic is apparently the only one of the long-serving United players never to receive the hair-dryer treatment from Alex Ferguson. His intelligent, simple passing and ferocious long-distance shooting have made him one of the first names on the team sheet for more than a decade. If he'd improved his tackling, he'd be rated as one of the most dangerous midfielders in Europe.

6. Ruud van NistelrooyOr Rutgerus Johannes Martinius van Nistelrooy, to give him his full name. If Alex Ferguson's reign at Man United has been short of one thing, it has been world class centre-forwards. Cole, Yorke, Solskjær, Saha - none of them were world class. This Dutch Greg Rudeski look-a-like definitely was. In 150 appearances for United he scored an astonishing 95 goals. And, as is always the case with six-yard box predators, most of them were more about being in the right place at the right time than aesthetic delight. He continues to prove his worth at Real Madrid.

7. Cristiano Ronaldo It's difficult to remember any other player who has had such an all-conquering influence on the Premier League as Cristiano Ronaldo has had this season with Manchester United. He has scored 25 goals in 25 games so far and has, at times, been almost unstoppable. Dispensing with the more ridiculous side of his dribbling, the Portuguese winger has been by far the most outstanding performer in the league and has led some people to ask, 'what would Man United do without him?'

8. Ryan GiggsPossibly the last of the genuine left-wingers in the game, Giggs has played 636 games for just one club and has been one of the key components in the lighting quick attacking philosophy that has defined Man United for the last ten years. Why is he so low down on this list? Because the occasional incredible display and the odd breath-taking goal have disguised the fact that he doesn't always perform to the level he's credited for.

9. David BeckhamWith his move to Real Madrid, his sojourn in Los Angles and all the tabloid activity that's surrounded his every breath, it's easy to forget how important David Beckham was at Man United. Twice runner-up in the FIFA World Player of the Year awards, Beckham dodged his lack of pace and ability to go past players by becoming the most deadly crosser of the ball in the world. Always gave 100%, sometimes even more, but probably should have used some the time he spent on marketing himself to make himself a better footballer.

10. Mark HughesBlessed with incredible upper body strength and deadly shooting ability, Hughes was an unusual blend of work-horse and spectacular goal-scorer. The Welshman's talent for holding the ball up was second to none, as was his capacity for unleashing gymnastic volley's that would almost break the net as they fizzed past the goalkeeper's outstretched hand. 'Sparky' scored 164 times in 453 games for Man United and is currently doing a pretty good impression of being Britain's best young manager with Blackburn Rovers. Who do you think should be on the list of the best Man United players during Sir Alex Ferguson's 22-year reign? Let us know which ten players you think are the finest.

SUPER TUESDAYS ON SWOOSH0018.COM

First things first I got a freakin ticket today, coming into Fordsburg. Can you believe it. I just held the cellphone up and the Metros treated my like I robbed a bank. They pulled me off and 3 of them came next to my Motor Vehicle lol. I said "Officer, Kerel I just held the phone , thats it."

The officer was a indian guy , he said" LARNIE , Check here ritte" pulled out this blue form that said. "YOU CANNOT BRANDISH A COMMUNICATION DEVICE WITH ONE OR TWO HANDS WHILST DRIVING". Be careful. On to Super Tuesday though.

FA CUP DRAW
Secondly whilst I was on my rounds for Fordsburg.com yesterday the news of the FA CUP draw became evident. I met a few MANCS. They were looking a bit worried. Joe Dindar on the other hand replicated the Ryan Giggs pulling of shirt and swirling action and said bring them on. Faaiz Oz was also looking confident. It will be a humdinger and Arsenal beat them at OT, They will lose in Europe and so they demise begins.

The Kop guys should be Happy drawing Barnsley and Chelsea should be at ease against Huddersfield

AFCON UPDATE BY TAKILLA

In the wrap up of the 1st group, hosts Ghana proved too strong for Morocco with goals from premiership dou, Essien and Muntari.. It means Ghana maintain their 100% record and advance as group winners.. This result however means that Guinea who drew with Namibia qualify, which also means i need to retract my statement of Guinea going home early.. Morocco threw it away against Guinea and were rightfully punished.. So this means in all probabilty Ivory Coast will have a burfee game againist Guinea, and Ghana will play either Nigeria/Mali pending on the results 2nyt..As for Bafana, i predict an early exit and hopefully i'm proven wrong..

Heres My Pick 3 for the remainder of the season..

Afcon 2008 - Ivory Coast
Premiership - Chelsea
FA Cup - Liverpool

THEATER OF DREAMS
By LAAL CHAVEL (RED RICE)
INSIDE THE THEATRE
Influence of Queiroz

The familiar swarve & cool confident character of Carlos Queiroz from his days at Bafana has had a major influence in the way football is run at OT. Being the shepherd of the “Golden Generation” of Portuguese talent which included players like Figo & Rui Costa Carlos has a lot of experience in the development of youth which is one of the main reasons SAF brought him back to OT after his season stint at Madrid. He has played a major part in the acquisition & stability of players like Ronaldo, Nani & Anderson. Queiroz runs the day to day coaching of United & mostly conducts training sessions with players while Fergie gets involved at a tactical level & man management. Queiroz also played a vital role in keeping Ronaldo at OT after the World Cup controversy with Rooney. Because of Queroz’s African roots (Mozambique born) the United net of scouting talent is starting to spread even wider with Carlos using his contacts in Mozambique & Angola to acquire potential talent. Recent signing Manucho is evidence of this. His Portuguese background has gone a long way in helping the growing number of Portuguese speaking players now at OT. Because of this United are now scouting talent in Brazil with recent acquisitions being the Brazilians twins of Fabio and Rafael Silva.
On the flip side there have been problems Keane & Giggs have clashed with Carlos on occasion. Particularly because of his 4-3-3 tactical formations adopted 2 seasons ago. Keanes comments about Queiroz made to MUTV were banned before he left United. In the end frustration got the better of him as he lashed out at Fergie for backing Queiroz & was forced to quit United. But the young talent coming through looks a class act & credit to Queiroz who has played a pivotal role.

The derby against Man city

As the Derby between United & City draws closer so does the commemoration of the Munich disaster. The game against city on 10th Feb will mark 50 years since the crash which claimed 23 lives including 8 United players & one City player who was then a journalist, former goalkeeper Frank Swift. There have been a lot of calls by City fans to call off the minutes silence which they fear will not be respected by all City fans. United have declined to switch to a minutes applause & the silence will be upheld. If the City fans can’t respect the death of one of their own let them be exposed.

PROSPECTS
New Signing Manucho has been absolutely superb so far for Angola bagging 3 goals including one against Banyana, huh. This dude looks a brilliant prospect, good physique; strong in the air & has the ability to lead the front line on his own. Can’t wait to see this guy at OT.
United have recently finalized a deal signing Brazilian brothers Fabio and Rafael Silva whom they had been scouting for quite a while. The pair were spotted at a youth tournament in Hong Kong & reportedly excelled at the under 17 World Cup for Brazil. The 17 year old identical twins are being compared to the Neville brothers operating on the left & right flanks as full backs. They have visited OT a few times on training camps & will now live in Manchester.
Madrid’s sporting director Padraig Mijatovic has come out saying they will never give up on trying to sign Ronaldo, with their recent reported £50 million pound bid turned down by United. When will these Spanish suckers sod off? Subsequently United CEO David Gill’s house was vandalized must have been those Madrid fans – b@stards!

Last Game vs. Spurs FA CUP (3-1)
An excellent all-round entertaining game. Spurs played open football & were not afraid to attack. They opened our defense up worryingly on a few occasions with Aaron Lennon causing Evra a lot of problems. Thankfully Van der Sar saved well in a one on one with Jenas. The excellent Robbie Keane put the Londoners in front but our attacking play never lacked ambition which kept us in the game. Tevez & Rooney lead the front line superbly with the Argie putting us back on level terms after good hold up play from Giggsy. Ron the DON firmly on course for player of the season yet again after his predatory double. A good cup run will do wonders for team confidence & fighting spirit. SAF has challenged the DON to hit 30 this season - too easy I say make it 40!!

Next games – FA CUP 4th Round v Arsenal (Feb 16th)
The Clash of the Titans, another premiership opponent but we don’t fear anyone bring those Gooners on…
This game will be fireworks. Good to see Paul Scholes making a comeback our midfield is in superb shape with plenty of attacking options. We will need it challenging on 3 fronts, dare I say it - The Treble.

Premiership – Portsmouth (30th Jan)
At home in this fixture, could be a tricky tie & we cannot afford to drop points here.

KOPics of Discussion

Liverpool’s refinancing deal has been grabbing the headlines, and some supporters have been bought over with new pictures of the proposed stadium revealed intentionally to buy over the Kop. But supporters are not fazed, even though it looks like we are stuck with these Yankee Doodles for a long time, majority of supporters are still wanting them to leave and hoping Dubai based DIC to come in and “save’” Liverpool from turning into Leeds. Time will tell, but for now lets focus on the positives. Liverpool versus Havant and Watelooville, guys, this is like Lenz United playing Kaiser Chiefs at FNB stadium, massive for the small guys! And they did themselves proud I say.
Nice of Alex Ferguson to let them train at the Old gutter, I’m sure he helped them in the game planning too!
That said, Havant scoring 2 goals at Anfield is the equivalent of the South End fisherman beating United last season.

Rafa tell his players how many goals he wants, and he gets it

Havant take a surprising lead

Brazilian Lucas Leiva scores a beauty

Benayoun scores another important Hat trick
and on a lighter note

HAVANT PLAYERS REVEL IN DREAM DAY

Havant and Waterloovolle winger Alfie Potter has described how the battle for Steven Gerrard
's shirt was almost as tough as his side's FA Cup tie at Anfield on Saturday.

"When he came on they got a corner straight away and I asked if anyone had his shirt, and he said no," said Potter. "So I thought, 'right, I've got that then'. "Then a couple of our other players went up to him and asked if they could have his shirt, but he said 'the little man's got it'."
"The Liverpool fans were amazing, they clapped us on and off the pitch, they're probably the best fans in the country." Midfielder Jamie Collins has also revealed how he gave an impromptu rendition of Liverpool's club anthem to Steven Gerrard during the game. "As the Kop was singing You'll Never Walk Alone, I couldn't help myself and joined in," he said. "I was singing it at the top of my voice and he looked at me like I was a weirdo, like I was an alien. But then I don't suppose he gets that too much in the Premier League! "Then I turned around and told him about what he did to me. I'm a West Ham fan and I was at Cardiff two years ago when he scored that 30-yard screamer in the last minute of the final. I said to him, 'You broke my heart'. I don't suppose I was ever going to break his! "We were just determined to enjoy it.
"Singing You'll Never Walk Alone along with 40,000 people is something we'll never do again and it was magical. "We were like fans coming into Anfield on the coach. We all had our video cameras out and to get clapped off by the Kop at the end of such an incredible day was unreal."
"My little boy Jake is a Liverpool fan and got Fernando Torres' autograph before the game. For me the memory of coming here three months into the job, will stay with me for the rest of my life. "Rafa knocked on the door and came in to say well done at the end. I've got the utmost respect for him. He's one of the world's best managers and what he did means the world to me. I'm gutted to lose but can accept it at Anfield. "Their players also came in, signed shirts for us, we were treated magnificently."

West Ham away on Wednesday night, Rafa under pressure, hopefully not another draw on the cards.
I’m going for a scrappy 1-0 to Liverpool.

AFCON UPDATE BY
TA KILLA

Sorry for the not poasting regulary, i'm based at a client at present and access is a problem.. However since the Bafana game on Wednesay , there were many other cracking games..
On Thursday the 1st upset occurred when Guinea( a team i wrote off) beat Morocco 3-2.. Morocco were no where close to the form they showed in their opening match and sets up a good battle for 2nd.. Ghana clicnhed qualification with a 1-0 victory over Namibia who became the 1st official team to be knowcked out.. My prediction for Group A is Guinea to qualify as Ghana play Morocco next..
Friday saw favourites Ivory Coast qualify with a 4-1 victory over Benin.. Important for IVY CST is all their big names got the goals.. Dindane, Drogba, Y Toura and Keita.. This group also has a close battle for 2nd as Mali held Nigeria to a goalless draw. However Mail have to play Ivory Coast so i predict Nigeria will qualify as i dont see them losing to Benin..
Until next time..

THANK YOU P& D

Baby Ledee`s Quote: ‘The secret to life is to start from scratch and keep on scratching.’

swoosh0018: Leanda. Wow, Its cool to have you on the blog. I mean you have set stages alight wher eever you have performed. Playing at major events all over. Entertaining thousands of people with your immense talent and style that is second to None. How did it all begin for you. How did you get to where you are today. Would you care to run us through a brief history lol?
leanda: I’ve always been a complete music junkie. Started clubbing at the tender age of 15 and my love for house music just grew from there. I got interested in mixing when I was living in London and bought my first set of decks whilts living there. I then completed a mixing course at Retro music in Johannesburg and with a lot of presistance and many hours of practise finally prefected the art of mixing. I then just started hanging out at my favourite clubs, got to know the owners and the DJ’s until I got a break to play. I am happy to say after 3 years of hard work landed my fisrt H2O set this past new years.

swoosh0018: Would you care to tell our readers of some of the most memmorable experiences that you have encountered thus far, namely the best atmosphere, the best places, famous people you have encountered along the way?
leanda: I would have to say one of the many highlight of my career would have to be playing at H2O it has been a dream of mine for many years, one of the reasons I became a DJ actually. Another great experience was having one of my mixes played on 5fm. As for event and atmosphere Sutra always has a great vibe love playing there.

swoosh0018: Is Dj'ing tough and difficult. I mean I stand back in awe the way thousands are entertained by skill. Is their a great level of skill, personnal touch and concentration required. Can you outline some of the pressures or consequences if you guys are not at the top of your game?
leanda: Dj'ing is definatly an art and I feel you never stop learning, I still watch other Dj’s and find I learn new skills and tricks all the time. Mixing is not an easy thing to learn and it takes many hours of dedication and practise but is worth it all in the end.
swoosh0018:And to top it all of,You are extremely sexy and stunning. The Night life and entertainment industry is huge in this country. With your good looks Im sure you swamped at every corner. How do fans embrace you as one of the most entertaining DJ's in this country?
leanda: The fans are the reason we as Dj’s get to follow our passion without them there would be no industry. The fans have been wonderful and it make all the hard work worth while when one person comes to you to thank you for making their night. I love to interact with my fans.
swoosh0018: Geez, I could go on and ask you a million questions about dj'ing but Il save it when I get your autograph lol, Anyways you are Swoosh's babe of the week. Have you done some modelling and how do you maintain that sexy Bod? Are you big on the health thing, Being in your industry, must be a tad difficult lol?If you could make any food or desert the caloric value of lettuce,What would that be?A chocolate desert maybe?Oh and what would you regard as the sexiest part of your body and a guys?
leanda: Where do I start. Well I find the number one thing one has to do to maintain a healthy body is excersice I gym often atleast 4 times a week. I love food so trying to eat less is just not going to happen so I try and stick to the healthier option like chicken and loads of vegetables.

I haven’t done any modelling as such but if oppurtunity came along I would not turn it down I think it could be a fun hobby to have. What is my favourite past of a mans body, mmm I would have to day his arm nothing sexier than a man with well defined arms.

swoosh0018: What was the most bizzare and funny come on line that a guy has used on You?
leanda:I was shopping with a friend and this guy grabbed the tag out of my collar. With that turns to me and says, mmm see your made in heaven. If I can give you guys one piece of advice do not ever do that to a lady I was not impressed.

WEEKLY SOCCER ROUND UP

FA CUP
This weekend saw rounds from the FA Cup. It was an ok weekend I guess. Just spent relaxing. Apart from the attempted theft of Mamoos Car on Saturday, it was chilled out as can be. He was wearing his MAN UTD top so I assume that had something to do with the break in. But on to the footie.

I started smsing profusely on Saturday at half time. I sms'sd all the Kop owes to say "What the f#4k". We are in the Perishaans (problems) Here. This is ridiculous. We are 2-1 down against Waterlooville or someone like that. Its like Liverpool playing Remla Stars and losing 2-1 at ANFIELD. Ejaz sent me an article last week. Before we go into detail about the game, Here is who Liverpool were down 2-1 to.

HAVANT & WATERLOOVILLE
By Ejaz Khan

Liverpool fans are widely recognised as some of the most knowledgeable in the world. But few of the 40,000 plus supporters that will arrive at Anfield on Saturday could claim to know much about Havant and Waterlooville.

The non-league outfit will play the game of their lives this weekend but who are these men looking to pull off one of the biggest cup shocks in history?

MANAGER
Shaun Gale: The boss (Runs Sportswear Business)
GOALKEEPERS
Kevin Scriven: First-choice (Property developer in family business)
Tom Taylor: deputy (Plumber/barman)

DEFENDERS
Neil Sharp: Centre Back (Courier Driver for Lynx UPS)
Justin Gregory: Left back (Studying sports therapy at Chichester University)
Jay Smith: Centre back (Quantity Surveyor in Surrey/Middlesex)
Phil Warner: Centre back (Works for a plumbing company)
Shaun Wilkinson: Right back (Works for Father's lagging firm IMI Insulations)
Brett Poate: Left back (Plasterer)

MIDFIELDERS
Jamie Collins: Central midfield and Captain (Football coach for primary school pupils in West London)
Mo Harkin: Right midfielder (Gas Boiler Engineer servicing Twickenham / Richmond area of London)
Michael McEnery: Right midfielder (Student)
Charlie Oatway: Central midfielder and Assistant manager (Brighton & Hove Albion Community Officer)
Alfie Potter: Right midfield (Professional Footballer - on loan from Peterborough) Tony Taggart: Left/Right midifielder (Dustbin Man)

FORWARDS
Rocky Baptiste: Forward (Studying to be a London taxi driver)
Richard Pacquette: Forward (School Caretaker / Monitor and school football coach)
Jamie Slabber: Forward (Formerly a full time footballer currently unemployed)
Craig Watkins: Forward (Student)
And we were 2-1 down to these MUGGS. At the end though we triumphed 5-2. Had we lost I think it warraned closing the blog.
I watched the Utd game or at least the first half with all the Dynamos old boys from back in the day. The spurs boy Ahmed Patel included. When Spurs took a shock lead the lads kept on lambasting Ahmed P by saying that how long can you hold out. Eventually Utd equalised. The lads then left.In came Mamoo and we debated the penalty decision in the second half.
It was a penalty. When the lity Ronaldo scored by sending the goalkeeper the one way half an hour before the penalty. Can you do that. That was a retake.
Anyways the big four are all in. Good wins for both Chelsea and Arsenal. It will be good to see what the draw throws in.
SPANISH LA LIGA
I met the Madrid man, Riyad Loonat on Saturday. I said "YOU SMILING NOW". He said Swoosh, even though we winning its not the Madrid of the past where the scores fluctuated at 3-2,4-3 etc. Well the man got his answer. A Robinho brace and Shneider making it 3-2.To top it all of, Barcelona slipped to a 1-1 draw. Madrid will obviously relish that as they go 9 clear.
SERIE A
Ten men Inter slip, Roma. Milan and Juve all win. Pato scored a brace for Milan. This 18 year old lity continues to be on the talking point in Milan. Something interesting . I had supper at Giovani's Illova which is a Rossinerri stronghold. Theres a guy Silvio who knows more about Milan than Berlusconi. I walked in there and said Forza Juve ,Always a Bianconero. "Si Si" he said. We ended up chatting. Word is that Milan want Rijkaard at the helm paving the way for Jose at Barca. Rijkard is Milan., they said and We will do anything to have him.
FORZA JUVE
Alex Del Piero and trezegol were on hand to give Juve a 3-0 win at Liverno. Great victory. We needed the 3 points. On a serious note, Buffon is suffering from a serious Back injury. If it persists he could miss EURO 2008. This would be a big blow for the Azurri. On a positive el Piero's form is second to none and he could very well land a birth in the Azurri set up,come the Euro

WOZA SA2010 WOZA

Ok , Thursdays we usually open the floor and DISCUSS some serious issues at hand. So please guys lets get the views on this subject by the blogs finest and loyal members. This is serious and no playing here. In light of the resurgent power cuts of which I suffered three afternoons without power, Are we ready to host the 2010 WORLD CUP.

I mean we have the greatest showpiece in World Soccer and the biggest tourism draw card ever to hit our shores. I was driving home yesterday and heard on radio that DONT WORRY SA, THE STADIUMS WILL HAVE POWER!

Loadshedding for the next 7 years. Do we have cause for concern. i ask this question seriously. And this is why I voice my concern.

If the Stadiums have power and the games go on, and Loadshedding takes place, Wont it dampen the spirit of the World Cup. The whole country needs to be set alight.
What if there is a gridlock in a suburb near A venue, Traffic Lights would be out, Traffic would be crazy, restaurants and PUBS will lose out on the greatest chance they would ever have of making that money they planned for 2010.

It would be a logistical nightmare. Imagine coming home and theres no POWER, You cant even watch the game at home. If you decide to drive to a game and there is no POWER, Youl probably get there after the game......

The TOURISM Sector will die. Imagine the English Fans celebrating after the game at the Dros and the POWER GOES OUT. Imagine Fans returning back to the hotels and theres no POWER.

What about the Fan Fests and watching the games on the Big Screen in PUBLIC AREAS across South Africa. If there is no POWER I can only imagine the crisis and mayhem. And where there is MAYHEM THERE IS CRIME

The consequences are relentless. Am i Panicking. I want to ask the readers
Do we have cause for concern?
Will our Tourism industry Suffer?
Is there a standby nation to host the CUP?
Come 2009/10 We need a country with a flawless infrastructure let alone POWER?
If 2010 and loadshedding is anything like this last three days we are f#$ked?

BAFANA BAFANA IN GHANA

Good Spirits in the Bafana Camp, And what a belter by Elro van Heerden.

I must admit that when that MANC scored before half time I thought Bafana Bafana's stay in this cup would be shortlived. But credit to them they came out fighting and with purpose. They looked like they wanted to win. I always say If you exit a competition then go down with your heart.

Earlier on I kept phoning Azee and Seth saying that 1.7 million and you lose against early on. Rather my Uncle Baai Gora should have been paid 1.7 million and been in Ghana.

But Pereira seems to have had a successful first game. We still have Senegal and Tunisia in teh group so it will be tough, but rather a point then none at all. But what a Belter, Remember when the comentator said Gerard, WHAT A HIT, WHAT A HIT..........against Olympiakos.
And how was Egypt. Thumping a Cameroon with Samuel Eto 4-2. No wonder the guys selling Abayas were jumping in Fordsburg.

CARLING CUP

ALWAYS A GUNNER

I phoned Faaiz Oz last night and told him to put some perfume. Its not defeat in the Carling Cup just more so a loss to arch city rivals. Whats worse is that Adebajour and Bendtner squared up with Galas intervening. Later in the tunnel they squared up again. Wengers litys were in problems. Could this affect the title challenge. Its not the defeat but its the Mohabbet(peace and tranquilty)that was the issue.

Also Bafana Bafana are up tonite. Wanna see that Angolan MANC striker.I believe he is a class act. Do we have a chance though. Really. I predict a win against Angola.

When Juve used to play my nerves used to get shot. The tension was unbearable. And when we got relegated to Serie B, it was a big loss. My passion, the adrenalyne. Drag Scene – Heavy weight Bout
The Battle of the super saloons is never ending & yet again this latest bout was billed to be a knockout. Billed as a German civil war exploding on 2 battle fields, courtesy the THE STIG & Co - it was epic!!. There’s a new monster on the block by the name of Meister C63 AMG. Meister is the sound of rolling thunder. His grumbling 6.2 liter V8 will strike fear into the heart of his Excellency: M Power with a straight jab. But, who will last the full 12 rounds, who will trump the score card? Perhaps an outsider, the esteemed Quattro? Who would doubt its sure footedness planted on all fours bolstered by its 4.2 liter V8. Or have the rules of refinement been rewritten? Churning out the sound of refined brutality we have the M3 ready to dethrone the old enemy. Let the Battles begin on a private Spanish circuit…
Battle 1
The quickest straight jab, who would pack the deadliest blow in a straight line?
Let’s line up the contenders:

Gold. Merc C63 AMG 6.2liter V8 336Kw /600Nm
The Stuttgart savage blistered across the finish leaving the contenders from Bavaria & Inglostadt in its wake.

Silver. BMW M3 4 liter 309Kw/400Nm V8 RWD – M Differential
In all fairness it was up against a bigger V8 in the AMG’s 6.2liter, a respectable second.

Bronze. Audi RS4 4.2 liter 309Kw / 430Nm V8 – Quattro
Third and last are its days numbered?
Battle 2
Stamina counts, the track battle ensued…
To make things more interesting the benchmark was set by Emerson Fitipaldi’s 1970’s Lotus F1 championship car piloted by STIG. Almost 40 years old & this amazing machine packs 314Kw. It managed to clock a 2:15.1s (i.e. 2 minutes 15 seconds) > Benchmark set!!

First up the AMG
The weight of this car & Mercs in general have by far been its Achilles heels. It posted a quick 2:43.5s
Second Up the RS4
RS4 clocked a 2:43.9s – underpowered compared to the Merc but given its all wheel drive Quattro system you would expect the Audi to trump the circuit. Not so & only 0.4s slower than the AMG.
Finally The M3 Arrives - King of the Track
Clocked 2:38.9s & the circuit champ, the focus of this car, its weight distribution, its rear wheel drive lay out coupled with M Power’s M differential keeps the power planted aided by its dynamic chassis. It could well be the complete package. Styling wise the Ice White looks simplystunning.

SUPER TUESDAYS

FROM THE KOP END BY
EJAZ KHAN

DRAWING CONCLUSIONS

Liverpool sit on the cliff edge of uncertainty and growing frustration, as the stand off between Owners and fans seems to be affecting the players, according to Liverpool skipper Stevie G it isn’t easy to just block it all out, all the time. Pepe Reina maybe feels the same, he couldn’t block out the goals last night, conceding two goals in quick succession, although the second goal was a bit of a weird own goal.

Déjà vu ? Seems that way. Another draw, yes. Another resounding backing from the fans for Rafa Benitez, but no full intensity from the players on the pitch. Dirk Kuyt in the box, something new and welcomed by fans. An assist even. Wow, it has can only get better, you’d be fooled into thinking. But that where it stops. Five seconds of productivity, and 92.5 minutes of utter frustration. Yossi Benayoun, doing so well to get the goal, seemed to think, just like Kuyt, that their efforts for the opening goal were enough for the evening. They were horribly wrong.

What the Hell

While a full thumbs up to the crowd is in order for a wonderful backing of both coach and club, seeing their team once again display a mediocre performance must leave them disillusioned to say the least. But the main problem seems to be getting that second goal, the goal that kills off the hopes of your opposition. That has been a re-occurring problem point for the Reds throughout this season so far.
Kewell, showing a few glimpses of his true potential, fizzles out again. Hyppia and Carragher did well at the back, Fabio Aurelio seemed to have put on Jon Arne Riise’s boots, Mascherano was intense in constantly breaking down Aston Villa attacks, but still lacks that edge going forward, and once again, Skipper Steven Gerrard played deeper than Mascherano, when it should have been the other way around. He definitely plays with more freedom when Xabi Alonso is his midfield partner.

The mystery discussion currently is the Crouch debacle. What has he done to limit himself to cameo appearances. Is it because he is so tall that when he stretches his legs he can warm the whole bench at one time? I don’t think so. Peter Crouch was asked to perform a miracle and duly managed to do what Dirk Kuyt could not in 88 mins…come in and do the job, end of discussion

Why doesnt Crouch get more starts

WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT?

THE AMERICANS ARE STUFFING UP, KUYT WAS HORRIFIC, WHY DOESNT HE START CROUCH

Here is some content from one site

Gerrard hits out at unstable Reds
Gerrard has grown tired of the constant speculation at Liverpool
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says speculation over the club's ownership and the future of manager Rafa Benitez is affecting the players on the pitch.
Liverpool lie fifth in the Premier League after a 2-2 draw at home to Aston Villa and are 14 points adrift of Manchester United and Arsenal.
Gerrard said: "It's not just this week, it's been going on for some time and it's certainly not helping the players.
"I've got to be careful what I say, but it's certainly not helping the team."

Interview: Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez
Liverpool have come under intense media scrutiny in recent weeks after prolonged speculation over Benitez's future and the management direction of American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
You try to put what's going on off the pitch to the back of your mind-
Steven Gerrard
Last week, Hicks revealed he had spoken to Jurgen Klinsmann in November about the possibility of taking over from Benitez, before the German agreed to become Bayern Munich's new coach at the start of next season.
The revelation followed a very public spat between Benitez and the Americans over the Spaniard's transfer policy.
BBC Sport understands Dubai Investment Capital is preparing a bid to buy the club from the American duo, who took charge less than a year ago.
Supporters at Anfield on Monday chanted and held up banners in support of Benitez, while also asking for Hicks and Gillett to sell the club to DIC.
606: DEBATE
Are Liverpool out of the Premier League title race?
Gerrard added: "We know what's going on, but as players you've got a job to do on the pitch and you try to put what's going on off the pitch to the back of your mind.
"But sometimes it's impossible, when it is every day."
Manager Benitez has refused to be drawn on speculation over his future since the Klinsmann revelation came to light earlier in January.
The Spaniard said: "If you win and you play well then obviously everyone is a lot happier and things are a lot easier.
"But I really don't have too much information, I just keep preparing for games and try to win every game.
"I am trying not to think about this."
The 2-2 draw with Villa was the sixth time Liverpool have been held at Anfield in the Premier League.
Apart from Portsmouth, no other team has drawn so many home games as Liverpool.
Liverpool fanzine editor John Mackin told BBC Sport the fans are united in wanting Hicks and Gillett to leave.
"The Americans have to go," said Mackin. "They've let everybody down associated with the club.
"They've let the manager down by not backing him publicly, they've gone behind his back and undermined his position and in doing so, they've embarrassed the supporters.
"They've dragged the name of the club through the mud and made us a laughing stock."

Afcon 2008...Day 2
By Takilla

Clash Of The Titans
Day 2 of the Nations cup saw the first hattrick, more cynical tackles and a moment of sheer class..The first game saw Morocco thrash Namibia 5-1.. And i happened to see the game.. Personally i think Namibia should join Guinea in the plane ticket queue..The extremely weak and i wondered how they qualify.. The Moroccan skipper, Safri smaks to control the game and he's a sharp player as well.. Namibia's tacklin was cynical and suicidal.. They going home first..The other game of the day saw Kanoute score a winner for Mali against Benin..

I didnt see the game as i was watchin the Liverpool game.. maybe someone can provide input on that fixture..The game of the day was between pre tournament favourite Ivory Coast and African powerhouses Nigeria.. The Super Eagles vs the Mighty Elephants..

Drogba vs Kanu.. Toure vs Yobo.. Martins vs Dindane.. Zokora vs Olofinjana.. Yakubu vs Kalou..

The match had all the elements of being a classic..Both teams were cautious, but werent to shy to attack as well.. Ivory Coast controlled the game and it was controlled by my man of the match Didier Zokora.. The winner came from a moment of sheer class from Solomon kalou.. The chelski striker rided 4 tackles before slotting past a helpless keeper..

TaKiLLa's Player Of The Day - Alloudi (Morocco Nr 7)..Scored a hatrick

AFCON 2008

AFCON 2008
By Ta'killa

My writer covering the Afcon Champs in Ghana called Ta'killa will kick of the 2008 Campaign. As the guys said the other day,Im sure we going to be in for a good treat. Some class players on hand

Accra Stadium was packed to capacity, bursting at the seams with colour, sound and vitality.. Yellow, green and red filled the stadiums as both teams have the same colors on their flags but it was evident that the host nation had all the support.. In all honesty the match didnt live up to expectation.. But then again what is expected of the African Nations Cup. Ghana started brightly and for the first 13 minutes kept the tempo flowing and by halftime shouldve won the game.. They hit the bar 3 times in this period.. The second half was a tad it even and when Ghana got the penalty i thought the floodgates would open.. But Guinea fought back and equalised minutes later...It needed something special to win it and forward stepped Sulley Muntari the Portsmouth midfielder as he thundered a left foot drive past a helpless Guinea keeper.. All in all i think Ghana are kak in defense and were hardly tested.. Guinea's star forward, Bangoura had no idea what to do in the final 3rd and i suggest they book early flights out.. Ghana have the home support which is always tough to overcome, but if they come across teams with power strikers such as Nigeria,Cameroon or Ivory Coast then they too will become casualties..

TaKiLLa's Player Of The Match - Laryea Kingson (Ghana Nr 7)

TaKiLLa's Mugg Of The Match - Ismael Bangoura (Guinea Striker)

TaKiLLa's Golden Moment Off The Match - Muntari's goal
