FORZA AZZURRI-BERLIN ! HERE WE COME

WHAT A NIGHT IN DORTMUND

DORTMUND-NIRVANA DRIVE(Lenasia) :What a night. Indeed a night I will cherish for a long time to come. Where are all the negative Italian Pundits now. The Azzuri have gone all the way to Berlin. To be honest I was nervous and expecting a penalty shoot out and a possible heartbreaking exit on penalties. I would have been gutted if that had to happen and when Grosso and Del Piero sent Italy through to the next round I was f%$ken ecstatic. Unbelievable. What a night. Finally the Azzurri have proved their worth and We are in the World Cup Finals. We watched the game in Dortmund (Nirvana Drive) wih my closest friends. It was good to have the okes over for such a big game although we were all Italian Fans (Myself, Sol Asvat, Ebie Ahmed, Totti & Cam) against one German fan (Husein Mayet). Their was plenty of banter during the game and I got it from all sides especially when Del Piero came on and missed the first few chances. My okes tore me to shreds. So it was F*&ken SWELL when Del chipped in the winner. Because I kept saying to them ,"The Return of the progidical Son".

The guys went as far as dissing Italy on ever occassion
Quote"There are only three types of Italian Fans in the World. 1. Italians 2. Women .3 Fags"

Husein Mayet (Germany on the Night)

But whatever, we are fu&*en through to the final and in Berlin and we beat the Germans in their back yard. But what a defensive display again. Buffon,Zambrotta, Cannavaro, Grosso-in a different league. Fabio Cannavaro is definately my player of the World Cup thus far. The man is a solid rock. Rumour has it he is going to Man Utd if Juve goes down. I was especially glad for Del Piero as he and Totti have recieved alot of citisism from the media of late. But they have proved that they are in a different class altogether. But once again ,What a night. I have watched a few games with Paolo & Danniella Maldini and it was good to celebrate the last 2 minutes on the fone with the Canary Avenue Man. The two of us have been Azzurro through and through. I enjoyed the comments and sms's I recieved on my cell phone from all my allies throughout the game and I would like to share them just to express the emotions from the Italian fans on the night.

I was pleased with Lippi's tactics. I though Camoronesi had to come off and Iaquinta did a superb job and injected pace into midfield. Germany had their chances and Podolski was the cuplrit on many occassions. This is what Lippi had to say.

Marcello LIPPI (ITA) It would have been unfair if we hadn't won or if it had gone to penalties. Our game was on a higher level to Germany's tonight – we hit the post and the bar, and we had the better of the play. The hosts can have no complaints. We are incredibly happy to have played here in Germany and won despite the fact that there were 60,000 supporters against us. That shows the true character of my team. They played with a lot of confidence and kept possession very well. I’m extremely satisfied and am sure that all Italian fans will be just as pleased today.
It was clear that the end of the extra time would be decisive, which is why I brought on another attacker. As the game wore on, our quality began to shine through more and more, but nevertheless, we would still have been ready for penalties. We had a lot more of the possession overall and that gave us a certain confidence, even if we didn't manage to create that many chances. I’m pleased that Alessandro Del Piero was one of the players who helped to turn the match in our favour. That's not the end of it, though. Now we have to see who we will play in the Final, but we'll take whoever comes – we don't have any preferences
.

Gianluigi BUFFON (ITA)We wanted to reach the Final and we’ve done it. (Marcello) Lippi made sure we were really up for it. I thank my team-mates for having scored two wonderful goals. I started to think about penalties from the beginning of the second half. All our wins are down to team spirit. They say Italy reach the Final every 12 years, and we’ve done it this time as well. Now we hope to go on and win.

Alessandro DEL PIERO (ITA) You could all see how happy I was when I scored. We were desperate to win. The quality of this team lies in the strength of the squad. I’m not thinking about Sunday yet, I’m going to enjoy this moment and reflect on what we’ve done up to now. The job isn’t finished yet though.

Fabio GROSSO (ITA) What a feeling and it’s because of our team spirit and the work we’ve done. The match was very hard. We were already thinking about penalties when luckily I scored. I shed tears of joy, I just couldn’t believe it. The Final will be just as difficult and memorable. I dedicate the goal to my wife, son and everyone else who wants the best for me.

Gianluca ZAMBROTTA (ITA) We’re happy, it’s what we wanted and it’s a great feeling knowing we’re in the Final. They put us under pressure but we also created lots of chances. At the end of the day, we’re a great team and deserved to win.
Luca TONI (ITA) We played a great game even though they did put us under lots of pressure. Our team spirit brought us victory. To win in front of such a partisan crowd is something to tell your grandchildren about. We’ll concentrate on the Final now. We want to win it!

Philippe LAHM (GER)I don't think that we played worse than Italy today. It's a bitter pill for us to swallow. We concentrated on one thing and kept our focus right until the end, except for that one attack of theirs. We definitely want to win the Third Place match though.

Per MERTESACKER (GER) We could have won today. Of course we knew that Italy would be even tougher than the teams we'd played before, but I still think that we did what we set out to do. We weren't looking beyond this match.

I can write this post forever. But to conclude. It was a fantastic night. Just the mere fact that we avoided the penalty shoot out and snatched it so dramatically. It has never happened to me where we snatched it at the death.

A German team who seemed to be an unstoppable force were wrecked by two fantastic goals, hats off to GROSSO and ALEX, clinical finishing on the biggest of stages at the biggest of moments…

    Sheer entertainment .

Watching the game with an Italian crazy fan, my man SWOOSH and mates, Herbly, Lighty, Sola and Cam was fantastic…I can tell you one thing our man Swoosh was on the edge, im sure he has no nails left!

I have never seen him so tensed…

Italy deserved it, Cannavaro was it his very best.

My moneys on the French now, hope they pull it off 2nite so we can be in for a great Final…

The best CURRENT defender Cannavaro and LEGEND ZIZOU going head to head would be A classical encounter… worthy of a WORLD CUP FINAL 2006…

Lets salute one of the greatest of all time ZIZOU… I think the French team, owe it to him

I hope ZIZOU pulls of a classic just as he done with Brazil in 1998…

  4. Congrats to the Gumba's.

Hope Les Bleus make it a double celebration and we see a repeat of Euro 2000. Gumba's were magnificent on the night. Thankfully when watching the Premiership we'll never have to hear of Jens "Ze Cheater" being called a World Champion!

  5. SWOOOOOOOOOOSH !!!!!!!!!

Love your blog man. I find myself using the few privileges given to me just to sneak onto the net every now and then just to read the updates and comments.
    It’s what keeps me going

    GREAT SITE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thumbs up chap

Glad to hear the guys are still getting together to watch the ball
    Nirvana Drive, Dortmund ??????
    You must be joking!!!!
I mean 5 Italian supporters and 1 German supporter
Its sounds more like the San Siro than anything else

Come on Swoosh what are you doing to those boys?
I’m surprise to read that some of the die hard German boys are shouting for the Azzurri
    I can’t believe it
    WHAT THE F*^&
You mean you actually convinced them to change their alliances
When have some of these boys started batting for the other side?
    FOR F*^&s SAKE

This article had force me to reminisce on my days of watching the ball with the guys at Nirvana Drive

    It was Euro 2000

“Most of the guys in that lounge watching the games trying to spot that BIG Man in the stands for every game, watching him waving his hands for that karate kid, while another was always on the phone with his woman while his brother poured his heart out to us and not to forget a prominent other who was always on that MIRC while the games went on.
Those were the F#$%en days. They were the best.
All the guys rooting for their teams while stressed out Duggones would take a walk out of the lounge believing that his team would always score if he left
    Does he still do that????
    Wish I could be there.

Anyway good luck to you Swoosh and the Azzurri
This might be that cup you were always waiting for
However for it to happen, I’d ask the lord not to bless Zidane on the night for he does on most and that would certainly be the END of the Azzurri dream and yours too Swoosh

    KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
    WHAT A F%$#EN BLOG !!!
