IM A PROTEA-WE GOT MALINGA'D

CRICKET WORLD CUP UPDATE

What the hell happened last night. I had some tea, went for a Shower. I come out , Been used to seeing my phone just saying SA VODA. All of a sudden I see 5 messages. I get Happy right. I think who the hell is this, this time of the night Right. I see the message from Naeem laudium.

"Swoosh , We got MALINGAR'D

I see a message from Ebie J. hissing and cussing and going berserk. I look at the TV right and WE F$%KEN getting MALINGAR'D ALRIGHT

I mean the b#$tard took for consecitive wickets, Could you imagine if we had o lose by the ODD run with 18 balls to spare. F$%KING hell. I dont have much to say except that I want to hear the heavyweights views, the Kirstens included.

Graeme Smith even said on news24 that couple of the guys were seen having a smoke or two in the dressing rooms.

In the end though Lucky we had Pierterson who I dont rate as a spinner but the lad can tonk a few...... He was calm and collected.

I was at Paari hair salon last night. A Sri Lankan looking lity walked in and told Basheer Bhai He wants a hairstyle like Malinga.

Other talking points to note. Kallis came in for some heavy stick. We made him MUGG of the Week. Then the man hits a matchwinning innings last night. Do we have what it takes not to choke . Do we have the BMT. What changes or tactics should we change owes. I want to hear the views

comments last night
"Ur know sometimes you take it for granted that things are going ur way then all of a sudden the shit hits the fan and thats what you call being MALINGA'D-naeem laudium. Good one bro , if SA lost we would have made it quote of the week

  1. I think Malenga wnet to get a taweez..jislaaik i couldnt belive what i saw this oak nearly won Sri Lanka the match we should have won convincingly Well i think S.A dont have BMT.The choke quickly...I think the aussies look a class above the rest they look championship material.

  2. firstly malinga bowled well. there are times when a bowler is just too good. it has nothing to do with choking. the yorker to pollock was class. the slower ball to hall was perfectly landed the ball to dismiss kallis held its line instead of swinging in and the wicket of ntini was the perfect inswinger to a tail ender. the man was in the zone. how that delivery to peterson missed the stumps i still dont know.

but like smith said SA were in control of this match for the most part. the bowling unit is good and will be better once pollock comes right. the top order is firing. the only concern is the middle order. the great thing is that the middle order can get some batting practice in the matches against ireland and bangladesh.

but dont lose sight of the fact that it was a poor performance by sri lanka in conditions that suited them perfectly. they batted without much purpose up front and it was a shambles at the end.

the captaincy of mahela was shocking. he allowed gibbs and kallis to milk the bowling with utmost ease. he was also too defensive with murali. the performance of malinga saved him a bit.

in the end it is two points to SA and one step closer to the semi's.

  3. We almost lost it. Good job to Kallis for his innings. I would have liked to see him bring the boys home, but some great bowling got rid of him. I was never a huge Smith fan, but his been coming good for us. Peterson looks like he can travel. Polly needs to give up the new ball. As for Malinga, he travelled far and wide in his first spell, but boy did he come back good. Less then an inch away from winning it and getting a 5pher. Guess S.A didn't deserve to loose that one. However we gonnna have to perform much better if you wanna come home with the cup.

  4. the chokers tag has merit. the lad bowled well, those in swinging yorkers, sublime but SA should have sealed it before that. Kallis may have got 86 but how could he get out, i mean he needed to be that at the end.

I am no expert but i think that Malinga chucks, if they had doubt about akhtar and brett lee, then this oke looks ver dicy to me. i dont want to take anything away from the guy,he bowled well, but i would like some of the experts views on his action?

SA dont have BMT imagine if that was a WC semi final? they were shocking!

  5. HEY PETER,

wERE U IN THE TEAM THAT WAQAR DESTROYED IN THE 1992 TOTAL POWER SERIES? HOW DO U DEAL WITH FAST INSWINGING YORKERS?

  6. the best way of playing inswinging yorkers is to take guard on middle middle-off. it is an unconventional guard but it allows you to play with the swing. thus you look to score between mid-wicket and mid on. the ball would then be sliding into your pads and is easier to score. the worst option is to try and score on the off side to an inswinging yorker, this leaves a space between bat and pad and you will be bowled. another option is to bat a foot outside of the crease in order to minimise the swing.

  7. Peter, but that would lead to you playing across the line to an extent? would you not become an LBW candidate? and batting outside the crease. as it is you got so little time and u making that even shorter?
i taught u better then that! at least gary listened to me and thats why he played so much more for SA then u did?

  8. The best way to play the inswinging yorker is to ask for the ball to be changed.......

  9. whats the odds. I think these sa players are spread betting. odds were for peterson to score the winning runs.

  10. I think Malinga chucks, that low action, if u slow it down u will see his arm is throwing.

    ICC SHOULD BAN HIM

  11. SA don't look that good at the moment... Sri Lanka played poorly, yet they almost pulled off a victory...

SA better make good use of their next 2 games to allow owes to find form etc...

If not, they will loose to New Zealand and Windies... and their last game against England will be a must win.... in which case Pieterson will knock them out...

    SA are still chokers !

  12. mombhai, at least SA choke but survive to fight another day. unlike your pakis who surrender without a fight and are finished.

  13. Point taken Kirsey (btw, you were a legend in your day... western province were as good as pakistan back then... ;-)

But while the Pakis are at home with their families eating Chicken Tikka and drinking cold Pepsis... Smith and co are suffering with cramp in the heat...and after they choke, they will have nothing to show for it...

Point is... go all the way or go home.... nobody remembers 2nd best..

And at the end of it all... whoever wins, this World Cup will always be remembered mainly for the tragic murder of Bob after Paki's loss... so even the winner will not steal all the limelight...

Atleast, thats how I console myself ;-)
