News - Turbo Tech
I was blown away when I saw the new Turbonetics GTK series turbo's that recently landed on our local stoeps. This forced twister looks incredible, just looking at the thing scares you boet !! (bheek lahge).
Apparently its more reliable, spools faster & is more efficient than the HKS / Garrett GT series turbo's, Huh ? The Garret GT is one mean maadir, it has been used on record breaking Skyline drag cars & is standard equipment on the Drift Scene (D1 GP) Nissan Silvia /240sx cars (400hp+). To my suprise the GTK is single ball bearing compared to the GT's dual ball bearing however most of its components are ceramic coated & more aerodynamic allowing for better heat transition , my gut tells me most experts will be doubting this turbo against the GT, as the GTK is not watercooled , no variable AR sizing & non wastgated basically its WYSIWYG. Its not cheap either starting at 17 grand you could buy a decent jalopie for that price. Mods

Let me just start off by saying dont do any mods to your car, it a waste of time, money & energy, think of the starving children in malawi, give some sadqah broo !! what kind ?BUT if you are annoyed with those zillion floppin gti's on da road, M power okes aiding the german invasion - get yourself a Jap special (Nissan 200Sti, Honda 2.2 Vtec, MR2, Mazda FE 2.0 16v etc) boost dat maadir scare the half daylights out of those okes!! Oh & one german fellow comes to mind by the name of Super Boss, an old foe of mine put a set of shriek cams (288` i think) in one of these Cosworth tuned motors & it blitzed an S3. Fcuk me dat ding was quick ! My personal 5 cent worth of advice is if you gonna mod dont touch anything less 2.0 16v. Why ? Its a brilliant cost effective platform to tune where u can gain 100Kw wheel power with just a few basic enhancements. Over the next couple of weeks I'll throw in some info on stage 1 mods.

Drag Scene

The D1 drift champions weapon of choice is the Nissan Sr20det motor, found in the Silvia/200sx & featured in every fast n furious movie, on local stoeps its found in the legendary Nissan 200Sti in aspirated form. The Sti is the dark horse on the street scene, known to bliksem anything from Vtecs to 328's.Head & Cam 330's & Gti 5's have caught a hiding.
