JET FUEL ONLY

News – Mclaren SLR Roadster
AMG & Mclaren have taken the super car concept to another dimension, that’s blitzing to 332Km/h in 30 seconds & still enjoying your Bose sound system - Luxury saloon intersects hard core racer. The soft top Merc is so well engineered you could cruise at 200Km/h with the top down & still hold an audible conversation. The SLR’s aluminium space frame chassis & carbon fibre construction has kept its weight in check & provided stability & rigidity beyond conventional roadster standards. In short it’s a 330Km/h power bomb comforting your behind like a lazy boy. And it’s flippin stunning….

Motor: 5.5 liter Supercharged twin intercooled AMG V8, 5 speed automatic/manual.
Power: 460Kw & 780Nm @3250rpm
Performance: 0-100Km/ in 3.8s Top Speed 332Km/h

Lamborghini Reventon – A Blunder?
Debuted at the Frankfurt motor show – Reventon is the name of a legendary Spanish bull, as most lambo’s are named after, but “Reventon” actually means – “blown tire”. Some auto commentators have questioned the naming & also called for a name change. Which makes sense cos you don’t expect customer confidence on a car which claims to reach 340Km/h when it’s named as blown tire. Anyways it’s built out of carbon composites, has Audi Quattro installed together with viscous traction or VLSD and only available in a limited edition of 20. Wandering about the price? They all sold out.

Motor: 6.5liter V12 (LP640)
Power: 477Kw & 660nm @8000rpm
Performance: 0-100km/h-3.4s Top speed-340Km/h (claimed)

Legend: Mclaren F1 LM
You just knew it was going here, the F1, possibly the greatest supercar ever built - by popular sentiment.
The one that takes the cake is the F1 LM. LM denotes Le Mans, Mclaren cleaned up at Le Mans in 1995 winning it in the there first attempt with the F1, dubbed the GTR & in celebration of that victory they produced only 5 editions of the LM in recognition of the five F1 cars that finished in the Top 13 including 3rd, 4th & 5th. The LM weighs in at just a ton, A TON!! The power to weight figure is second to none for a road going car that produces 505Kw. I know what you thinking > Are You fcuking kidding me. No, it accelerates to 100Km/h in just 3 seconds capable of an Enzo killing top speed of 360Km/h. The production F1 GTR set a top speed record back in 1998 blitzing to 384Km/h in Germany. The F1 - a focused track inspired road going super missile.

A super car that can seat 3, the driver being in the front middle. How floppin cool is that – the art of cool !!

Interesting fact sent in by Bra Laauw:

“VW's Citi to top half-million after 22 years
The 500 000th Mark 1 Citi will come off the VW production line in Uitenhage by the end of September to mark 22 years of production of this iconic small car.”

Wow Laauw remember when you used to move in that green mamba Mk1, every time we drove over a pebble it sounded like gunshots from an attempted hi-jack. I used to duck for cover in the passenger seat but to no avail cos it felt like the shot were coming straight up my behind !! Tell us how your Jetta Mk5 compares to your previous death trap Bra Laauw? (He’s come along way that boy Laauw-ster)

Mk1’s with wheelz – is that a floppin 4 piece wheel? Shiyassee…. As in sheessssy

  1. Yes Mr B

The Green Mamba MK1 you refer to was a long time ago and it certainly brings back fond memories. The lowered suspension on that beast really gave one helluva ride. You really want me to compare the Jetta 5 to it? Night and Day broer, .......Night and day. Enough said
