PRO 20 UPDATE

AahThe Pakistani cricket team, you gotta love them. Just when you think they have thrown another game away, they resurrect themselves from the what almost always looks like the point of no return . Against World Champions in the 50 over format Australia, they continued there surprisingly consistent performances with a come-from-behind victory that almost made me want to wear my Pakistani cricket Shirt again. But I resist, remembering the Pakistan of the past. Full of talent, full of promise, Full of cr@p.
They lose when you expect them to win(remember Ireland anyone at the Windies World Cup) and win when you expect them to lose ( Australia Pro 20 World Cup)
They change their players so often that I sometimes think that Rafa Benitez is their coach. Though I don’t think Rafa would have survived (no offence Bob Woolmer) the erratic nature of these “sensitive” players who bring their moods both good and bad, onto the field, would have him reaching for Craig Bellamy’s Old golf club, or better yet, The bat Shoaib Akhtar used to klobber Mohamed Asif when they fought on the eve of the World cup or something like that…anyway moving on to the Pro20 World Cup and Pakistan have progressed rather rapidly and with a certain sense of belief that they could actually win a trophy post Imran Khan/ Wasim Akram/Waqar Younis era.
They celebrate every wicket as if it was the match winning take, and have somehow managed to get their fielding standards up a couple of notches.

Misbah al Haq is a relatively new name for fans but at aged 33 is quite experienced. He has endeared himself to supporters with his big hearted and big hitting style, and not for the first time took Pakistan to victory. At one stage 46-4 , He alongside Skipper Shoaib Malik made light work of the Australian attack, and did all the work early on , and won quite convincingly at the end, hardly breaking a sweat, a single here, a two there, made Australia look like Zimbabwe. Wait a minute ,Zimbabwe beat Australia too, I almost forgot . Pakistan seems to have upped the momentum the night before by defeating Sri Lanka. Mohamed Asif bowls in the area of uncertainty all day ,and is a real revelation for the Pakistani bowling attack. He is growing in stature and composure and is up their with the best

New Zealand’s Scott Styris and Craig Macmillan have also got into the hitting grooves by thrashing England Yesterday, with sixes flowing from the duo as they continuously encouraged each other to hit a bigger six than theprevious one. Now members of the 6 or Nicks club, they join a growing number of blistering blasters that Pro 20 is producing, like I said previously , 500 in a 50 over game, is no longer and impossible dream, its edging closer with every six, every scoop off leg stump for maximum bringing more ingenuity and pushing players to play at their peaks for longer periods can only make them better and the game on a whole will go to the next level.
