From The Kop End

Liverpool Crouching for Besiktas
Ejaz Khan

Liverpool loss to Besiktas has been a shock of extraordinary proportion, as the Reds now certainly have one foot out of Europe’s elite competition. Once again, Sami Hyppia scores at the wrong end, and hopefully he won’t get his third against Arsenal on Saturday. Hopefully he won’t be playing at all. Rafa should seek the services of the Oxygen tent that helped speed Rooney’s recovery from a similar metatarsal injury, and keep Agger in Intensive care, because his return is vital. Rafa should consider throwing the likes of Jack Hobbs into the thick of things, I’m sure the teenage defender, cannot do any worse than the ageing Finn. The biggest problem in this all important fixture is the absence of one name in the starting lineup, that of Peter Crouch. Fans are besides themselves with theories as to why he does not feature so often for Liverpool. Surely he is fit and ready, patiently waiting his turn. It was the same problem last year in the Champions league final, the instant he came on, the Reds looked to score, and his height causes problems for the best defence, anywhere in the world. So why keep him languishing on the bench, when ANYONE can see his an asset to the club. Steven Gerrard’s bullet header into the top corner yesterday, came shortly after Crouch was introduced, and one has to wonder, as was the case in the Champions league final in May, if he came on earlier, would it have been a different storyline.
Ifs and buts don’t change the scoreline, and I’m pretty sure Peter Crouch will most certainly be losing patience. Sure, he might feel obligated to Rafa for sticking with him through his lengthy barren spell during his early days at Anfield, but surely he doesn’t have to payback with Bench time. Crouch is a wonderful footballer, and contrary to the common misconception, his strength is with the ball at his feet, hence the “Crouchinho” tag. We saw with his hat-trick against Arsenal last year that his quick feet are proportionate to his height - right up there ! Has there been a breakdown in the relationship between Benitez and Crouch ? Is the Tall Man on his way out? Speaking of which, I really hope that John Arne Riise is going to Villa, and if they don’t buy him, I beg Rafa to pay them to take him. He is so average that It amazes me as to just how he sustains his place in the team.Aah Yes, by default, there’s no one else to compete with him for his place, so I guess its ok, being in the team as an outball specialist. Seems to throw further than he passes, I think most Liverpool supporters will agree that one spectacular goal a season is far from below par for Liverpool, and thanks , but no thanks Riise, go well and Take Sami Hyppia with you please ! The most positive aspect to come out of last night’s loss is that Steven Gerrard has managed to demonstrate that he still has that fight and bite in his game. He tackled all game, he made himself available to collect balls from the defense and was almost at the end of a good number of chances,a nd scored a sublime header. Basically, last night we saw the Gerrard we know who can turn on the style and his header was top-class. There is one concerning factor that troubles me somewhat…That Liverpool have this uncanny ability to make ordinary opposition look great. Besiktas were beaten by everyone else in the group, and Liverpool made things difficult for themselves. I must say there supporters provide quiet a blanket of noise and the tin can that hit Jermaine Pennant must have scared his socks off. I would rather he pull up his socks, Pennant is another player who can’t seem to take the ball forward and for all his step-overs and trickery only manages running parrarel to the poles, as does Javier Mascherano whenever the opposing team invitingly allow him to come forward. I think he has been worked out now by most team, he just can’t get forward or be any assistance in attack. Dirk Kuyt did virtually nothing all night and Voronin couldn’t take the few chances that cames his way. Steve Finnan seems to have lost a couple of yards overnight, so Rafa has his work cut out ahead of Arsenal on Sunday. All in all a poor performance from the Reds, and they will need to work extra hard against the Gunners who will be looking to exploit the disappointment of the Besiktas loss. Not an easy time in Rafa’s tenure, by any means, the fans wait to see what character the Reds are made of ,once again….

  3. the most irritating thing about last nights game aside from the referee was Commentary, for the sake of balance, why don't hey got more neutral sounding commentators
Man Utd, Man Utd Man Utd, before the game even started.
How was that Penalty shout for Kiev when the score was 3 -1 ?
Would've been a more exciting match had that blatant penalty been given...

  7. credit where credit is due..the mancs are playing some impressive stuff..they have a good team no doubt..i don't think we should be talking too much about penalties at the moment..we were on the clattenburgs early christmas list on saturday so to be fair the pot shouldn't be calling the kettle black..

The gooners...i've been singing their praise from the start of the season and you got to say the football on show from these younsters is simply breathtaking...the link up play, off the ball movement are fantastic..having said this we'll fuck them up good and properly this weekend...

Basiktas...6 pointer for us..our form has to start resembling that of the mancs or arse or we can start concentrating on the carling cup again..i know some fans will slate me but i'm being brutally honest..we were shite at the weekend and only came into the game after the blueshite went down to 10 men.before that we were atrocious...and to be fair to the blueshite they deserved a draw at least...i also know what this team is capable of and i think that the Everton win could be a catalyst for another phenomenal CL run.

Ejay..come home tonight boss..we'll catch the game together..

    very quiet in here today.
so, the great english team , on
    the verge of not qualifying.

what excuse is kopout going to give now ?, am sure he'll find a lame one.

ejaz, u publishing anything for the blog today ? why dont you give us your in depth statistical analysis of liverscums loss & who the blame falls on now. am sure the scum will find some way to blame AL QAEDA for their loss.

swoosh, where u at with you beeeeeg mouth? write something for the liverscum, maybe some inspirational thoughts to lighten their kak day up, & ur'z too.

  17. First off all the United oakes complaining about not having a column on the blog. I read a good post somewhere about it.

"We don't need a column on the blog as we prefer to do our talking on the football pitch."

I agree with that, we don't need a column on the blog, just let the boys do their part for us. The Liverfools talk a good game, pity the game isn't mirrored on the field of play. If you believe everything you read here we should have seen a cracker of a match last night, instead we saw a boring game with both teams looking like they have no clue wat to do with the football.

And with swoosh being a liverpudlian himself it's obvious that the blog will tend to lean favourably towards them, as it would have towards United had it been run by a Manc. Thats just the way it goes. So to the all other Mancs out there from a fellow Mancs, lets leave the talking to the Liverfools and the football to our boys in black and red.

I'm really looking forward to hearing about this weekends match against Arsenal. It makes the match more interesting to watch coz it amazingly always turns out differently. Surprises are lekker. lol......

No article on the Champs league then for Game week 3? Or did the blog ban it for vulgar language?
Would like to see how Ejaz analyses last nites game, coz he promised us we were going to see a real match.

But Milan finally found a performance. What strikes by Seedorf and with Pato available in Jan he will be exciting to watch, though we playing kaak in Serie A. Hope they don't go after Mourinho.....

  25. Shame guys, leave Kopout alone....his not the brightest as we've come to know, and when he cant find a logical explanation for any of Liverpool's failures he'l throw a tourrette's tantrum and start talking about the glorious past....

Anyways, I wana take the duty upon myself to create a convi with Kopout. Few questions:

Do you think Rafa is the right guy for Liverpool going forward, if, hypothetically, you guys could challenge for a League and Champions League.... and more importantly, a Carling Cup, all in one season?

Many Pool fans lambasted Rafa for playing Gerrard down the right. Now, they are those who are saying Gerrard is most effective down the flank. My question is, does Liverpool's away kit make you wana throw up?

Lastly, if Pak o's departure is the route of all the problems, is it ethical for Rafa to trick the players by getting Shahid Afridi into the backroom staff?

    Please answer honestly....

Btw, my prediction for the weekend:

Liverpool 2 Arsenal 0 (duno how its gona happen but damn I wish it)

  26. Come on chaps give them a break here's a summary of why they lost last night:

    1. The loss of Pokemon, ever since Poke left the scum haven't been able to gel as a unit because the okes are having trouble understanding Rafa and there's no one to pat their bottoms before they go out and give it their best.

    2. Turkey have hot chicks and the scousers play shit away especially in places with badaams, because they all getting it on the night before and the day of a big game.

    3. Rafa brought on Crouch for 8 mins coz he was resting him for the Arsenal game knowing that the league is his priority this season.

    4. Mark CLITtenberg is not a UEFA accredited ref.

    5. They couldn't teach enough Galatasary or Fernebache supporters to sing "You'll never Walk Alone" so they only played with 11 men, 10 coz Pennant doesn't count.

    6. They did it for their supporters coz they knew if they won in Turkey the Turk's would've f**ked them up and they don't want to lose any more supporters.

    7. Sammi Hyppia is trying to beat Carra's record of most own goals in a season. The man is on a roll 2 in 2.

Faaiz, i'm sure i missed a few other areas that we discussed. Your input would be appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  27. They shite and now all the supporters are shut!

Kopout keeps on taliking of 6 and 7 big ears etc! always living in the past! rafa is a joke 4 a coach. Any true kop fan will be worried about him. He buys kak uses the kak for a year or 2 and then sells the guy. he has bought and sold more them most mangers in the premiership. Gillete and Hicks must send him on his way! they complain about Hypia, Who's fault is is that they dont have cover at center back? they like mourinho complaining about injuries but with all the money he should have bought good cover. At least at MUFC we have guys like brown, oshea silvestre, who could cover anywhere at the back and do a decent job of it!

The scum are in trouble and i am loving it!

  42. Seth your points are spot on except for one, you forgot to mention swoosh and his group of analysts who lets not forget predicted the Istanbul victory!
Im sure every game liverpool lost they predicted some sort of scoreline which by no means resembled the end result but we'll leave that for another day coz i never heard a scouser ever predict they gona lose but yet they do it best.
Seth does swoosh and this panel of experts remind you of the weatherman in any way? Or should we not disgrace the poor oke like that coz he just reads charts?

Firstly we were there first hand as the predictions pre-game came in and from the analysts who predicted the Istanbul victory word was liverpool were gona win 2-1. Surprisingly the score was 2-1 just the other way, coincidence?
I dont think so, some say its a usual occurence

Seth was dozing of through most part of the game, did you feel like you were at a alipor wedding and there was no dekk chows?

Seth lets leave poke out of this coz just mentioning him brings sudden bursts of laughter and such a stupid scenario does not deserve the effort.

Question to the scousers who all had big mouths before this game, if chelsea can win without mourinho how come you guys cant win without Poke?

Does anyone know how much Rafa has spent since he arrived?
Azee some statistics here if you know?
Im sure alot coz he buys voronin, pennant and the jutla, why only he knows coz they average, how can he even spend money on them?

  48. i dont know how much he has spent, but the impression he creates is that he buys without really knowing the players ability. Aberloa, gonzales, jan kromkamp, penant, bellamy, babbel etc ALL SHITE.

added to this his daft rotation policy! Playing gerard on the right wing early on when he came to anfield, The guy is a mugg! He is competing with Sir Alex and Arsene, and he comes a distant third! Why buy Mascherano when you got Sisoko. gerard and alonso? dont make sense! why not spend on a decent winger?
Surely crouch is better then voronin?
