INTO THE RUFF

Thanks Azee for this piece of information. We were always in the dark about this quota system situation. Look my take is that "Give Credit where Credit is due"and I know that some owes definately deserve their place in National teams beacuse of Merrit. Hash is one of them, Chilli Boy is another . This peace of info was taken from the Cric Info Website. I mean we all know that Kevin Pieterson is a class act and that he almost represented South Africa and played for Natal. Have a look at this

Racial quotas led Pietersen to leave South Africa

Kevin Pietersen has claimed that racial quotas forced him into making the biggest decision of his life, to quit his native South Africa and move to England.
In an exclusive extract from his new book Crossing The Boundary, being serialised in the Daily Mail, Pietersen said that he was left out the Natal side in 2000 because of the prevalent quota policy and that led to him making up his mind to seek his career in England.
"I was dropped because the quota system was brought into South African cricket to positively discriminate in favour of 'players of colour' and to fast-track the racial integration of cricket in the country," he said. "To me, every single person in this world needs to be treated exactly the same and that should have included me, as a promising 20-year-old cricketer. If you do well you should play on merit. That goes for any person of any colour. It was heartbreaking.
"Even though it was very hard for me to take in at the time, it turned out it was the best thing that could have happened."
Not that that seemed to be the case when he was told that he was being left out so that Goolam Bodi could play. "I flew into a rage," he admitted," flinging a water bottle across the dressing-room and shouting 'I'm leaving here'."
Pietersen said that he and his father tried to reason with Phil Russell, Natal's coach, but got nowhere. And as for Goolam? "I'm not aware he's made much impact ... certainly not with the South Africa team."
Pietersen admitted that he had spoken to Nasser Hussain about the possibility of playing cricket in England when he played against the touring side earlier that season, and that by the time he fell out with Natal there was already considerable interest from several counties in England.
Some players advised him to go, but the decision finally came after a meeting with Ali Bacher, at the time the key man in South African cricket. "He was rude to me in that meeting and he was rude to my dad. I had never met the man before. As far as I was concerned the least he could do was be polite." Bacher failed to offer any encouragement that things would improve. "As soon as we left the meeting my dad said to me: 'You're going ... the quota system will never finish'."
Pietersen immediately rang Clive Rice, the Nottinghamshire coach, and agreed to join them. He had an English passport which enabled him to do that, although he knew he still faced a delay before he could qualify for England. He also knew that he had played his last game for Natal and that his move had to be for good. "I wouldn't call it an agonising decision," he added. "It was well thought out. I've always been a confident bloke and I was sure I would be successful."
Pietersen also speculated that had he remained in South Africa he might not even be playing cricket now. "I would have been frozen out of the system ... I would have gone out and done something else.

I open the floor. I want to hear the comments from the Azees's, Mombhais, bergson, and the rest of the boys.......

  2. Don't look at it as he couldn't play because there was a non white in his place look at it like he couldn't get a place because he couldn't dislodge the likes of dale beckenstein rather.

  3. this is total bullshit. This is the typical attitude of ALL the MUGGS in this country, that affirmative action is messing up there chances.I met endless MUGGS in London who complain of lack of jobs cause they MUGGS but they have no skills or qualifications. . Kevin thought he'll just get a way into the team. Sorry Pharoah, No path in the sea for.

Go ask SuhaiL Gani, Go ask Zubair Garda, Go ask Goolam Bodi. Go ask them if there chances to be crickers were hindered by the racist coaches at that time. We all know what a racist Ray Jennings was at that time.

I am happy that that prick peterson never represented us. If you 20 and you have promise, you stick it out.If he was good and had confidence in his ability, he could have been playing at the highest level.

I stand corrected but from my understanding he was nothing more than an average spin bowler for Natal. And lets not forget Bodi got a callup long before Kevin(but goolam got injured).

  4. Pietersen's a MORON!
It's easy to moan now about quota's chsing top players out of the game. But he forgets that for 50 years there was a quota in place that stated that the national team must consist of 11 whites.
People forget that legends like Olivera, the Abed brothers, Eric Pietersen and many others were robbed of the opportunity to represent their country. Had their been equal opportunities names like Rice, Cook, et al would not have even been known.
Go and ask your Grandtoppies, Toppies and Oom's about the days of Natalspruit cricket and in the 60's or 70's when the Non White Transvaal 11 F**ked the MUGG Transvaal 11 up.

  5. Pieterson is a doos!

its guys like him that will fu*k the system up. We need quotas because without them the MUGG kants will not pick anybody of colour. We dont need guys like pieterson, this is SA and its different to any other place, we need to redress the wrongs of the past and in doing so we may lose the odd Pieterson but we will discover guys like gogga, makhaya, zondeki, etc

  11. Offcourse there needs to be a quota system.
Otherwise guys of colour would never get picked.
Come on, there is so many guys that we know that could have been there at the top with the right training.
You just another ignorant South Afircan if you believe that talent is getting ignored.
He is just one example who turned out to be good.
Maybe at the time when he was dropped, he just wasn’t good enough.
It does not mean if he is good now he always was.
Bodi was a class act at the time, arrogant but good.
    He just didn’t perform
I mean how many guys do we know that can now play a decent game of some sort of sport but when they were younger, they were shit.
    They developed over time.
Maybe Pieterson is just one of them
If you ask me its just a case of rejection at the time

    I support the quota system
Its there to help the guys against racist management.
    Racist management does exist.
    You better believe it
So next time you decare what a loyal supporter of SA cricket you are,
think about whether you supporting your country or the white mans opportunity to take part in world sport at the demise of other South Africans
The quota system prevents them leaving our guys out
Ask our guys who are involved and they will tell you.

People like this lightie Faheem Vehzerz will never know how it is cause they have never experienced it. They just turn out to be the white man’s puppet like the rest of those toppies that sold us out for all those years.

WE HAVE TO SOMETIMES DWELL IN THE PAST, IT HELPS US REMEMBER WHERE AND WHAT WE COME FROM

  15. "Bodi was a class act at the time, arrogant but good." so why isnt he bowling?

  16. We need quota's. Take Amla he is in the national side on merit with the weight of runs he got in the first class competition, but if there were no quota's he would not have been picked to play for Natal in the first place.

Makhaya is another example. At the start of his career he was not up to international level but Bacher and co needed to pick a black guy so they gave him a show, now he is the star performer in the bowling department.

These bastards wont pick guys of colour if they not forced to!

  17. faheem_vezherz has once again showed his ignorance! he is too young to understand the shit our guys go through to get to the top!

  18. U guys wanna talk about potential that we had...

Lets go back in time before there even was a quota system. Here there were individuals that didnt even have a say, Their talent had no where to go.

If they even had the slightest opportunity like all the names mentioned above, They would have seized the opportunity's eyes closed. That was talent that escaped through the back door.

Just a name to ring a bell. Dr M Moosagee.

U need reassurance. Ask Mr "Blikkies" Bismillah.

He will give you his end!!!

  19. GUYS must be picked on Merit!
