News - The 2 liter Vtec Type R
Japanese technology has always been at the fore front. The new civic Type R is no exception & an awesome machine. Get ready to sell your 147 kw Volksies. Brilliant looks, brilliant motor & super quick, 6.6s second quick, in fact tests by Top Gear rate it quicker than the Volksee. All this from a normally aspirated 148Kw motor- non turbo in lay mans terms. This VTec will scream into oblivion topping out at 8600 rev limit & 235 top end speed. I'm not a Honda man but you gotta admire this work of genius which is due to launch here in June. The existing 1..8i civic vtec has already won Car of the Year 2007. Taking into account the Volksies shoddy reliability reputation, Honda has topped the JD Power quality survey 3 years in a row, impressive !!
Looks like it comes prepacked with intercooler space, Imagine the turbo potential of this flIppin machine , admire it, fear it broo !! Just make duaa my dear brudders they release a limited edition Jap Spec Vtec. The 2007 K20A in Japan is reworked offering 165 kw, brembo brakes, limited slip diff, larger throttles ... I like.
The tuning potential to add to the mayhem is near endless, with Toda, Skunk, Crower all pitching in from reworked cams to branches, ecu's etc.
Imagine the Spoon Sports edition - beyond our akhel bhai (roughly translates to brains )- ricers rule, he he.
Mods - High Performance Exhausts
The basic, effective, efficient enhancement mod you can do to your jammie is a high performance exhaust system, A.K.A free flow. Lot of laaities nowadays dont truly understand the concept. They just smaak it to sound loud. The concept behind a performance exhaust is that of quality, minimal bends in the piping which should have a larger diameter, silencers & headers should not restrict air flow & it should be light weight , thereby allowing air to flow freely through it. Improving exhaust flow out of any motor will improve breathing efficiency and deliver increased power & better fuel efficiency, KAPISH ? There are alot of exhauts systems on the market with the cheaper ones or even expensive & inferior ones normally made on sight while you wait as the mekies cut & bend the pipes to fit your ride. As far as I know the only bolt on dyno tuned system available in this country is the BroSpeed system & an awesome system it is, second to none. I fitted one & gains of 8Kw are likey without branches & costs around 2 to3 grand. We dont really have a good selection in this country from brands like Greddy, HKS, Borla, Toda & so on, again these are researched dyno tuned bolt on systems & fairly expensive. An Ac Schnitzer system for an e46 M3 can cost upto 12 grand, freakin exhaust tips cost upto 3 G !! The Greddy Titanium exhaust system for 300zx twin turbo costs about 10 grand. Another factor worth emphasizing is weight, mild steel weighs less than stainless steel, it also disipates heat better, even better is titanium. Remember to see a propper power gain u will need to dyno tune your car. Anyways I'll talk about intake systems next week, to breathe out well u need to breathe in well > hem jem perreh ?

Drag Scene - The Ultimate Street car Challenge
After half recovering from saturdays wembley depression on sunday a buddy of mine in the tuning game told me to get my ass over to wesbank cos they had a certain Top Secret show stopper. I rocked up there about 2 oclock & met him in the pits standing next to a Top Secret Skyline GTR 34 Vspec II. It was a sight to behold, the thousand horsepower beast tuned in Japan & bought by a local for about 3 mil. da oke took his car out on the track for a couple of laps & it looked very solid, there were no official times or specs but it was the center of attraction. It was a worthwhile afternoon relieving me totally of all depresiion when I witnessed another beaut of a Skyline ownwd by a chap called Farouk Dangor blitz the quatermile in a 11.9s. This 550 HP monster was not even near drag capability & not even a VSpec II, but a beautiful R34 it was, o' dangor explained to me he uses it as his daily car to work & back, huh ! & STILL RUN SUB 11 - fcuking amazing !! There was a glut of scooby's & M3's all over the show posting some very strong times. Another outie Yusuf Ebrahim T66 turbo'd M3 (e46) ran a very quick 12.3s, speaking to him in the pits he explained to me his M is capable of a sub 11. There were a couple of Noble M400's which were no match for the skylines, neither were the scooby's running mainly in the sub 13's. Just to put these times into perspective a 911 GT3 on the day ran a 13.4s. I was blown away when a an import Supra posted a 450kw reading on the SnS dyno but inside info had it the dyno was bit shoddy, though it was good for at least 350Kw - very respectable. chk th pics form wesbank.
