Speaking about fashion earlier and the litys of today and the Gangsta greeting lets switch back to football. Now when we grew up or when I grew up I started playing for Tigers at under 10. But I remember the weeks in school, after Mads(madressah) just looking forward to the Sunday game and wearing ur togs and shinguards. There were even the litys that used to come to the grounds with their togs (as it was called) and shinguards over their Jeans.
Mams, herbly,Ebie J, Freds,M Kaloo,Mamoo. Remember the days when we pulled in at 9 am.played the game.had the best Wors Roll and Coke for 5 bucks I think. Stayed their the whole day till the Semi PRO Finished. The days when Tech Grounds was a haven for football, despite the stones and Sand that used to bring us home with arse burns and grass burns that only Mecurochrome could fix.
I remember being inspired by taping BIG LEAGUE SOCCER late on Sunday evenings and watching Liverpool of the 80's.Whelan,Rush,Molby,Jhonstone, Dalglish.
And watching the 1986 WORLD CUP CASSETE over and over again to get inspiration. Remember that cassete.HERO
The video below is about a lity in the UK DESTINED FOR BIG THINGS.Apparantly he has been taken in by the MANCS. Watch this vid, remember the litys name and if only we or some of the litys in our time had the opportunitys available to them back then, they would have been BIG.
THAT TIME THERE WAS TALENT,PASSION. I met Uncle Ahmed Said Kaloo from Tigers in the butcher in ramadaan. He was my manager in under 10. Had a long chat. One things for certain.Today we will never find toppies like him, Dr Aboo Seedat(TIGERS),late Uncle Ismael Kola (Lesco),Late Uncle Ebrahim Adam(Tigers), Uncle Mily (Lenz Utd),The husband and wife duo from REMLA STARS, The ref Ridwaan formerly known as Ravee, and last but not least Abdul Karbelkar. Those toppies gave time and dedication. They smiled to see a lity on the Ground ,Win Or Lose.
As I said if their time frame was brought forward to now. MANY ROADS WOULD BE OPEN TO TALENTED YOUNGSTERS.
Those days WE AND THEM COULD GO NOWHERE,but just play for the love of their game. But yeah Lenz had f#$ken talent. If it was nurtured and apartheid not been a thorn, guys from the HAY DAY or Fietas Days even would be up there
So Manc Fans.Watch Rhain Davis. And reme, ber we ran an article on him on 16 October 2007
Speaking of signings, I think Swoosh will be happy. Del has signed a new 2 year contract extension at Juve....
ReplyDeleteDel Piero pens fresh Juve deal
Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero has signed a two-year contract extension that will likely see him finish his career at the Turin club.

Swoosh - eish bra - you reminding me...back in the day those wors rolls were stuff of legends...we played for lesco under haroon kola...used to stay all day till the semi - pro league finished....eish litghties nowadays no nothing about atmosphere and dedication (Sheesh we also used to pitch up at our coaches house 9am with full kit on ready to play - haha!)

Ya Loks.Those were the days.
ReplyDeleteHaroon Kola only making babies.
I remember u owes.
But the WORS rolls were something. How was the feeling when you knew you were fixtured at the stadium.
Even watching the big owes at the stadium.
Something wel never get back.
AND I AM SUPPORTING ITALY OF COURSE.How can I not. Wel Pump Bafana with a second string squad watch this. I admit Del is getting old. But the legends can still turn a game with one pass.Like Robbie Baggio. If Del were to join the premiership he would have emulated what Zola and Viali DID

ReplyDeletenot forgetting Ebies timer(Yusuf Jada)..aish..they don't make them like they used to..the toppees deserve the utmost respect..they were the cream of the crop.
Memz
how dare u compare del to robbie baggio. its like comparing rooney to crouch! u losing it again. baggio was a legnd and del was an average international player!
ReplyDeleteSwoosh you traitor, i hope you supporting the English on Sat night coz it's bullshit picking and choosing the national teams you support.
ReplyDeleteI understand okes have issues with the cricket team coz they have a history of racism but what's your excuse for not supporting them. Just cause they sh*t doesn't mean you don't have to support them.
And don't tell me you supporting the Italians all your life, pre 95 that was fine coz we had no national team but now there's no ewxcuse! You're no different to the lighties who all started supporting Chelsea in the last 2 years just cause they were winning.

ReplyDelete"I doubt that the springbok players will read this small note from the depths of a currently very dark London, but if these words should somehow find their way, please let them know this. We are proud of you. You have carried yourselves like gentleman. You have played outstanding rugby and lifted your game when needed. You have always spoken well of the other teams and have never taken any game for granted. You have always been humble, always pushed yourselves and have carried our hopes and dreams.
If karma and trumpet blowing alone have anything to do with Saturday, then England should lose. But we all know that in World Cups, passes, ref decisions and cosmic forces can all go wrong on the night, and England may take the cup. But, if this final does come down to rugby, talent and pure unbridled passion; then my boys, you will once more be men.
Keep calm heads while England lose theirs and keep the mental strength. Don't let anger cloud your judgment, and for God's sake, don't let Johnny kick! Win or lose, you have a nation behind you that is proud.
And, if you can go that last step, find it in yourselves to give that one last push ... for the pride and sanity of your nation: please oh please bury their sorry English asses."
Our Blood is Green!
