I want to hear your views regarding the following.
SHOULD SA HAVE DECLARED OR LET HASH GO ON TO SCORE A DOUBLE HUNDRED?
Please no racist comments here...just structured debate
Firstly I want to say well done to SA for thumping the Kiwis. I mean they bowled them out with a more than a day to spare. So WHY declare.Let HASH go for it. Surely if it were Kallis who is an exceptional player SA would have batted on. In context of the game there was a Full Two Days to bowl the Kiwis OUT. Does anyone agree?
Then again there were some toppies that said Hash batted to slow for his Double Ton and that getting three wickets in fading light was crucial. They said that the Kiwis having fielded for so long were vulnerable in 17 overs? Your views
Also Seth sms'd me on Saturday and I agree with him.Why were the commentators only talking about him being dropped on 2 instead of his exellent batting on Friday.
Dont quote me but I think it was Husain Manack on Radio and I quite enjoyed the dishing they gave to their fellow colleagues. They rose to Hash's defense when his technique was critisised yet again. They said Why is it always that the boy gets flak about this ongoing saga. So many players bat differently.I mean Desmond Haynes and Jonty had no technique but they did the job.
The above is debatable and lets keep it clean and structured guys. ON THE WHOLE THOUGH HASH WE SALUTE YOU AND WE ARE MIGHTY PROUD. EVERYTIME YOU BAT I GET NERVOUS AND THE SUPPORT YOU HAVE IS BIG MY MAN. HASH is a personal friend of mine and I will interview him soon................

I think Smith gave Hahshim the option at tea and told him and prince i will give you an hour to go and score your double Hundred and than we will declare.I must say for the first time i agreed with Smith to declare whem he did ....i mean Nz were tired from fielding for 1 and a half days and it proved it when they lost 3 wickets in the last hour of the the days play which put Sa way on top on sunday.So well Done to Smitj descion.Congrats to Hashim you were superb a well patient innings and i was there to witness it.Keep it up.

Unfortunately i have to agree with Biff and say he did the right thing when he declared as it was crucial to get at the Kiwi's before the close. Has was batting a bit too slow so no issues with Biff on his declaration.
ReplyDeleteBut on Friday evening it was total bull the way the commentators were going on about the dropped catch. They mentioned it at every possible opportunity and couldn't shut up about it. Whose fault is it if the Kiw's can't field, not Hash's and he has every right to cash in on their mistake and so he did!

Look guys there are mixed feelings about this declaration, I was for him getting the 200, Which would have given him a major boost and gain in confidence… I also thought that Prince should have tried to give Amla more of the stike at the time but thats how it goes...
After chatting to some cricket gurus that have being involved in the game at National level they pointed out that decisions are not made on the spur of the moment. At Lunch break the team would have set a target to achieve by tea… at tea they would have made a decision and gone with it. They were scoring slowy at the time and a decision to send the kiwis in and go for kill than was the justified…
Don’t know if you guys remember India vs Pakistan, India declared with Tendulkar on 194 With more than an hour's play left… The question always arises should individual milestones be achieved or the Team win put first?
