NEWS – The Tesla Roadster
Probably the world’s first commercial electric supercar. Created by a company called Tesla funded by the daddy’s of Silicon Valley being Google, Paypal & EBay. This rear wheel driven electrically charged car accelerates to 100 in a claimed 4s. The electric motor weighs in at about 32Kg delivering 185kw combined with an aluminium chassis it has a range of about 400Km. It has all of its torque available immediately when planting your foot on the accelerator due to the dynamics of its electric motor. Best of all it’s claimed to cost about 10cents per kilometer. Design wise it looks a lot like a Lotus & is designed & assembled by Lotus in UK. Retailing for about $100K (probably R 1Mil after duties) its due for release in 2008 & reported already sold out. Has to be ingenious since winning Time Magazines Innovation award 2006.

The Cat Strikes. Jaguars’ latest concept is quite an innovative piece of engineering. Besides being absolutely stunning design wise this car understands sign language. Check it, without pushing any knobs the car will be to understand certain hand gestures to activate features within the cabin. Very cool, imagine if you next to some prick in a sports saloon who’s trying to dice, you show him the finger & the car automatically opens the throttle & disappears into the distance. 300Km/h will be definitely be possible from its 4.2liter supercharged V8!

VW EOS
The experience drop top cruising is invigorating, especially when you set in a slick luxury offering like the VW EOS. The 2.0 liter FSI plant is by no means a performance bruiser but it has enough grunt for some egotistic tarmac sailing. I really enjoyed cruising around in the EOS. It’s unique, rare & refined, enough to turns heads in an instant. The hard top roof folds away in seconds but with top down the boot space is almost non existent. It’s also available in a 2liter turbo variant which should get your pulses racing with the top dropped. Starting out at 320K for the N.A & 360K for the turbo it’s quite pricy but worthy of 4 circles at the front...
