Drag Scene – Heavy weight Bout
The Battle of the super saloons is never ending & yet again this latest bout was billed to be a knockout. Billed as a German civil war exploding on 2 battle fields, courtesy the THE STIG & Co - it was epic!!. There’s a new monster on the block by the name of Meister C63 AMG. Meister is the sound of rolling thunder. His grumbling 6.2 liter V8 will strike fear into the heart of his Excellency: M Power with a straight jab. But, who will last the full 12 rounds, who will trump the score card? Perhaps an outsider, the esteemed Quattro? Who would doubt its sure footedness planted on all fours bolstered by its 4.2 liter V8. Or have the rules of refinement been rewritten? Churning out the sound of refined brutality we have the M3 ready to dethrone the old enemy. Let the Battles begin on a private Spanish circuit…
Battle 1
The quickest straight jab, who would pack the deadliest blow in a straight line?
Let’s line up the contenders:


Gold. Merc C63 AMG 6.2liter V8 336Kw /600Nm
The Stuttgart savage blistered across the finish leaving the contenders from Bavaria & Inglostadt in its wake.

Silver. BMW M3 4 liter 309Kw/400Nm V8 RWD – M Differential
In all fairness it was up against a bigger V8 in the AMG’s 6.2liter, a respectable second.

Bronze. Audi RS4 4.2 liter 309Kw / 430Nm V8 – Quattro
Third and last are its days numbered?
Battle 2
Stamina counts, the track battle ensued…
To make things more interesting the benchmark was set by Emerson Fitipaldi’s 1970’s Lotus F1 championship car piloted by STIG. Almost 40 years old & this amazing machine packs 314Kw. It managed to clock a 2:15.1s (i.e. 2 minutes 15 seconds) > Benchmark set!!


First up the AMG
The weight of this car & Mercs in general have by far been its Achilles heels. It posted a quick 2:43.5s
Second Up the RS4
RS4 clocked a 2:43.9s – underpowered compared to the Merc but given its all wheel drive Quattro system you would expect the Audi to trump the circuit. Not so & only 0.4s slower than the AMG.
Finally The M3 Arrives - King of the Track
Clocked 2:38.9s & the circuit champ, the focus of this car, its weight distribution, its rear wheel drive lay out coupled with M Power’s M differential keeps the power planted aided by its dynamic chassis. It could well be the complete package. Styling wise the Ice White looks simplystunning.
