And Then There Were 2.....

At the end of an enthralling evening it was the defending champs and the Indominable Lions that hailed supreme in the semi final round of Afcon 2008..

In the 1st semi the hosts Ghana looked to book their place in the final and will rue missed chances, and in particular Junior Agogo.. The header in the second half from a set piece was a burfee effort from a player of his calibre and he should have sent the game into extra time. Cameroon capitalised and knocked the sting out of the hosts in the 71st minute when Eto set up Nkong.. Ghana couldnt come back and frustrations were growing.. However it was Cameroon that ended up the Muggs of the night and in particular their defender Bikey, who got sent off in th 90th minute for assaulting a member of the Ghana medical staff that tried to take Song off the pitch.. Wat an idiot.. He will now miss the final due to natural stupidity..

And in the highly anticipated Ivory Coast and Egypt game, the scoreline reflected a very on sided gameand it was no where near that. Egypt took a lead through a deflected Fathi shot and in a moment of mayhem in the second half there were 3 goals in 5 minutes.. Egypt scored a header through Zaki and Keita scored an absolute beaut from the kickoff to get back into the game.. However Zaki injected the "killa" punch 3 minutes later when he drove a shot pass the subsitute keeper when Kolo Toure backed off from the shot.

In the 90th minute Egypt broke again and added salt to the Ivorians wounds to set up a mouth watering encouter with Cameroon.. So the bookies final of Ghana vs Ivory Coast is now the 3rd place playoff and the Pharoas will take on the Indominable Lions for African pride this Sunday.. Being based in Cameroon for 2 months last year many asked if i will back them.. Well my money will be on Egypt t0 retain the title.. However one should note that not ONE of my predictions were correct thus far..
