FROM THE KOP END
By Ejaz Khan
Liverpool and Chelsea with a point to prove, get their point ( each)

KOPICS OF DISCUSSION

Hey Dirk! What are you doing?
Lampard was in the background of this game too, Though Stevie didn’t control the game either

Martin Skyrtel was solid and seems a decent buy

Mascherano ruled out any possible attack from Ballack ( Minus the sitter Michael missed all on his own )
Well another draw, but without Torres, most fans will be grateful it was not a loss. Dirk Kuyt, clearly the worst player ever to don the red of Liverpool, was never going to be a threat to the Chelsea defence and those white thingies he supposed to be targeting. He is so useless that when he manages to find a player with a pass, it is seen as though “he had a good game”. What nonsense. He was at his redundant best, clogging up the midfield and leaving Crouch Isolated for most of the game. He turns like an 18 wheeler truck at a drifting competition, and when he does find himself in a goal scoring position, seems to have no clue what to do. Jon Arne Riise, who thinks he has been benched recently because of rotation rather than being absolutely putrid, complimented Kuyt brilliantly. The word passenger is an understatement, and his hands in the air plea’s for help are really annoying the fans. Help yourself, for goodness sake ! Mascherano was as brilliant as ever, nullifying any attempt Michael Ballack made to control the tempo of the game. Carragher was dependable, Finnan seems to like going back, to Reina (Like Carra) but the man who stood out in the Liverpool defense was the new guy, Slovak international Martin Skyrtel, who was acalming influence and passed the ball nicely, which is welcomed change from the “Hoof to Crouch or touch” method employed by Carra and Hyppia. Steven Gerrard seemed to suffer from Franks Syndrome, which is defined as the inability to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Playing so close to Lampard, he was bound to catch it, and the theory that they can’t play together in the midfield just got a whole new meaning. Babel was bubbly, and didn’t deserve to be substituted for Pennant. Most fans were pulling their hair out that Kuyt wasn’t substituted. Both teams were very compact and the wings were hardly used. So if Rafa had rather opted to take off Kuyt and bring on Pennant, we would have Babel wide on the left, Pennant wide on the right, with Crouchie up front alone ( No change really). This would see Steven Gerrard in a more advanced role and might have given us more space to get players up in attack. But, Rafa had other ideas, seems he was content with a draw. It is important to note that Rafa is reactive, rather than pro-active, bring on Pennant( a winger) only after Grant had brought on Malouda (a winger) . He doesn’t make changes that could change games, but rather to counter the opposing manager’s change. I believe that sometimes the away coach should have balls of steels and force the opposition manager to alter his style of play, not the other way around. It was nice to see Liverpool control large amounts of the game, and the Reds can take some positives away from the bridge.Anyway, a point gained is better than three lost. Which reminds me, congratulations to Man City, for ruling the City of Manchester for 2007/2008 season.

THEATER OF DREAMS

BY LAAL CHAVEL (RED RICE)
Inside the Theatre
Munich Remembered

Apart from the dreadful result, brilliant gesture by City fans coming out and paying tribute to the Munich disaster this past Wednesday outside the Theatre. The city of Manchester stood United & paid tribute to the legends that perished in the crash of 58’ including one of there own Frank Swift. On match day the 3000 strong City fans paid there respects with an uninterrupted minutes silence. They were duly rewarded with an excellent performance from the City players & deserved victory.

Above The fallen Heroes legends like Duncan Edwards & City fans paying tribute

In Munich fans of football paid there respects at the site of the crash. Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
together with the mayor of Munich conveyed tributes to the victims of the crash.
Rummenigge said. "Feb. 6, 1958, was a black day in the history of Manchester United, but also for football in general, I'm proud to be a fan of Manchester United."
Once our fierce euro rivals were Bayern but how’s that for building bridges - Admiration & Respect to Bayern & the people of Munich!!

Prospects
Signing of Rodrigo

United have added another Brazilian boy to their squad, Rodrigo Possebon an 18year old promising midfield hardman was scouted in Brazil at Sport Club Internacional by John Calvert-Toulmin who is United’s contact in South America. The same man who scouted the Silva brothers. He has already been handed the number 34 firsr team shirt so this dude is highly thought of by SAF and the back room staff. Rodrigo however will only feature in the reserves till the end of the season. According to United’s Academy chief Brian McClair he is described as a steady elegant box to box player. The good news is Rodrigo’s father is of Italian descent so he has European passport which nullifies the work permit issue. Good to see a new generation of youngsters in the ranks at United with recent acquisitions Fabio & Rafael Silva, Manucho & now Rodrigo. Fergie said: "We rely on history. It repeats itself. The way Sir Matt built that team, we're trying to repeat it, We want young players who were brought up at this club the right way, and to understand what playing for this football club is. And the younger you get them, the better it is."

Saha to Leave? Quagliarella on the cards
Reports have emerged that Saha is on his way out from OT, the injury plagued striker has just not hit consistency at the Theatre & his current contract runs out in 2010. United are thought to be wanting to offload the 29 year old injury prone striker before his contract runs out. Sad cos Saha looked an excellent prospect when fully fit. Consequently the latest player to be linked with United is Udinese striker Fabio Quagliarella the 25 year old Italian is being watched by United scouts.

Barclays Manager of the Month & Player of the Month (January) & Quagliarella

Games
Last Game v Man City (0-2)
We dominated possession but struggled to create chances. City played a waiting game & were excellent on the counter attack. Every chance they had caused unfamiliar panic in our defence. They took there goals well with Vassel & Benjani who now holds the record for the first player in City’s history to score on debut against Manu at OT. Well done to the African! So where did it all go wrong? Rooney suspended so SAF decided to play Ronaldo as a striker. Ron was largely ineffective & should have started on the wing. So were Nani & Giggs having an off day? Carrick should have started, Anderson lost possession far too often. But one ex liverfool cake deserves a mention – Hamann that punk @ss deserved a card for some wreckless challenges. Your thoughts PUNISHER?

Next Game v FA CUP v Arsenal

Ok the Gunners look favourites for the title now that we slipped up badly. They’ve got some excellent talent, Eduardo what a striker coming out of nowhere. A loss would mean super confidence to the Arsenal to do at least the double. We need to dig deep & gain a psychological edge over the Arsenal in the title race.

CHAVILINHO

We concluded the AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS. My cousin phoned me from London. he spoke about how he enjoyed watching the Afcon Cup. Lets be honest it was of a High Standard. Bafana out in the first round shows that the Big Boys are Big.

I was at Fordsburg Akals. Spoke to Dullah and the lads. There was no question that the Pharoahs played a level of football that couldnt be matched.

They humbled an Ivorian side thats in its prime and took it to Cameroon. The goal. well Liverpool involved there somewhere.Ex Kop lad Song sold Cameroon. But hey credit to the lad Zidane. He fought, made it out of nothing and Well Abu Tregha as its pronounced to Anfield. Man of the Tournament to me was The Egyptian Captian. Defending with calm and composure in the class of Cannavaro. Well done to the Pharoahs. pity I was sick else I would have been youtubing the Egyptian Celebrations in Lenz

Lastly for Valentines day, Check out our Bumper Special Edition on the P.I.M Blog. Alex has out done himself this time.Talk about a heavy shhoting draw. This is a group of death in football terms

Happy Valentines Day All

  3. Amazing that after one game United are kak.

Liverpool started off the season looking to finsih top, now their target as laid out by manager Benitez is 4th. Thats a huge step backwards from August last year.

Our target was to finish top in August, even after four games when we were written off. Now we still looking at the top spot, even though Arsenal have the edge.

As for the game on Sunday, again we were 2nd best in the 50/50 balls and all the loose balls were quickly pounced on by a City player. There is still time to put things right, although Arsenal look good for the title.

anyway, didnt get to watch the game, but heard that united played crap. 1 crap game in evry 10 is not a bad statistic.

    well done to man city.

the season is not yet over, & credit to the young gunners for doing the business, but 5 points is by no means the LEAGUE TITLE.

but its only 5 points and alot of the nig 3 have to still play each other. as for the scum i guess whats left of there dismal season is to cheer the rest of the league against united, after all they all abus and not true supporters of the scum
