I open the floor here regarding Bafanas new coach. I put my foot it in once more, lamabasting Perrreira for the money he is getting. This new bloke is only getting 50 000 less, ABOUT A MILLION a month. F$k sakes.........This for a man that has no International Coaching Experience.........WTF.......Im bitter. I believe this guys was sacked over 20 times on the job. I got the low down from SAFA. Uncle Bai Gora was close. SAFA just decided no we dont want to make him rich, we rather make a unknown Brazilian rich.
Uncle Bai Gora was better off. He coached a WFA team, was never sacked, has no International experience. After Uncle Bai Gora I would have went for Gordon Ingesund. Local is Lekker. A local bloke understands the cultures, the players, Ingesund has won the title 4 times.
Lets do some Kanti Naik stats here, or was it Miss Murmack.
1986-Argentina-Billardo (Argentinian)
1990-Germany- Beckenbauer (German)
1994- Brazil-Perreira (Brazilian)
1998- Brazil- Scolari (ok Portuguese but a memon and a kolved are still muslims)
1992- Brazil-Was it Scolari again
2006-Italy- Lippi (Italian)
So need I say more......
When Mariaane interviewed me for the Dutch Newspaper, She asked me what do you think of the Bafana situation. I said since 1996, the only year of Mohabbet (togetherness) Bafana has been on the decline, Too many coaches in too little time.........................
And Seth and Azee, call me un patriotic, But thats why I am Azurri through and through..
Oh and guess what I met a PIM Badaam, that reads Tarrot cards and tells fortunes..You know what she said that a month before the World Cup ,Santana will be fired and JOMO will be Coach.
Then I seen that Molana with the Chimpal (sandle spinner) walking around and saying 2010 Jomo...2010 Jomo
The worst kept secret in South African soccer is out.
ReplyDeleteOn Wednesday the South African Football Association confirmed what most people knew, that Brazilian Joel Santana has been officially appointed as the new Bafana Bafana head coach.
He replaces countryman Carlos Alberto Parreira who resigned on Monday citing his wife's illness due to cancer as his reason for not wanting to complete his contract with Safa that was due to run until after the 2010 World Cup finals.
Since Parreira's resignation, it was learnt via Santana's Brazilian club Flamengo that he was heading for South Africa.
'We are hoping he will start work around 9 May'
The appointment was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon by Safa chief executive officer Raymond Hack, that the 59-year-old Santana has accepted the position and was hand picked by Parreira.
Said Hack: "There are still legalities to sort out such as his work permit and actually signing the contract but he is our man and has agreed to coach Bafana. We are hoping he will start work around 9 May."
Senior Safa officials will be heading to Rio de Janeiro on Sunday to meet Santana and formally get him to sign the contract which lasts until after the 2010 World Cup finals.
Hack said the fact that Santana does not have any experience coaching a national team would not be a major stumbling block.
Explained the Safa CEO: "He is a top coach having won the Brazilian championship four times. He also coaches the biggest club in the world at present and has coached some of the biggest stars in the game.
'He will work alongside Parreira's technical team'
"We strongly believe we have found the right man to replace Parreira."
Hack said there would be a smooth transition of power between Parreira and Santana.
Said Hack: "We have listened to and accepted Parreira's advice. He rates Santana very highly and has the same philosophy and vision as Parreira.
"The fact that he will work alongside Parreira's technical team (assistant coaches Jairo Leal an South African born Pitso Mosimane) is a big plus and means that the team will continue the good work and foundation that Carlos laid for building a competitive squad for the 2010 World Cup."
Parreira has agreed to help Safa as a technical consultant.
Santana has coached in Saudi Arabia, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.
Like Parreira he is known as a conservative coach.
Santana will be thrown into the deep end when he prepares the squad for four difficult back-to-back African Nations Cup qualifiers against Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Equatorial Guinea in June.
Bafana play the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the central Nigerian city of Abuja in the opening 2010 Afcon qualifier on 30 May after which they play Sierra Leone in Gambia, due to the fact there are no suitable stadiums to host an important Afcon qualifier. They then have home and away clashes against Equatorial Guinea before the end of June. - Sapa

England hired a foreign coach.. And look where they are today.. A "B" grade nation..
ReplyDeleteGhana and Cameroon have FRENCH coaches but bear in mind they were ruled under FRENCH colony (read wat swoosh said about the khlovads)
Bafana had one in 96 in Clive Barker and he won something of value..
Jomo came to the finals of CAF with a depleted side..
Troussier made Fish mark empty space in France 98 as per his autobiography..
U need ur own to take care of your own.. Its like an Alipur running Kholvad House.. Shit is bound to hit the fan..
Get Gordon or if not, then someone that knows the SA team and players.. Like Dolezar, Ertugrel etc.. Guys with some knowledge of our team..
DEUTCHLAND 4 EURO !!
Or if all else fails..
ReplyDeleteIn JOMO we trust
Swoosh wasn't there a Santana in the WWE, Tito Santana if i remember correctly!
ReplyDeleteThe biggest problem a local coach is going to have is getting the respect of the players, esp the overseas based players, no matter what his local record is.
Benni and Quinton told Shakes to F**K off at numerous training sessions even though he was the man who made them at U23's. It's easy to say drop the overseas okes but then what are we left with. Okes who play in in the 2nd rate PSL. Plus the locals look up to the overseas okes and they would follow suit and create havoc within the squad.
Santana is not the man for the job, we needn't to get a high profile foreigner, Jose, Guus or Scolari that no player could second guess or question.
But we all know come March 2010 Jomo will be in charge!
well our new coach is well travelled.
ReplyDeleteI think its about 27 teams in 26 years of coaching
WTF!!!!!!!
he cant hold on to a job.
He was quoted as saying : i got the SA job because i was born the 25th of december.
double WTF
This is a stupid thing for me to say, but even gov's plan of taking all the players out just for 2010 seems much better than this fool.
But hey... i wouldnt mind being Santana... imagine getting paid a million a month and basically you not required to deliver any result
BEAUTIFUL....
well done SAFA for Sanatana
Well done Eskom for the loadshedding
Well done Rand Water for the Ecoli Scare
Well done Tito for the interest rake hike
Well done Coke for not having any gas.
Well done Simba for not having enough potatoes
Well done standard bank for not having enough 20c and 50c pieces
Well done FNB for not having cash in your ATM's
Wonder if the home affairs office is competent enough to arrange my visa... or will i have to use a toy gun????

ReplyDeletewhy dont you go emmigrate! abr!
Drogba and Co
ReplyDeleteYou guys being harsh on ABR.
I agree. Perreira must have told Santana. Il make you a millionaire. Just take the Bafana Job over.
Or maybe Santana is a decoy and the team is still run by the head honchos. Jomo steps in, Santana leaves a rich man.
Everything shaping up toward 2010 IS JUST GOING PEAR SHAPED.
Really jokes aside, we anted a local or a man of calibre.
F#4k it.
They talking about Carlos Alberto being a "technical consultant"
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is that supposed to mean???
They dont speak about his consultation fees
Do you guys really think that this ass will consult for free, just from the goodness of his heart.
He backed out of a his contract and still got to choose his replacement.
We dont want a Carlos wannabe at the helm. We want a coach that has a vested intrest. We want a coach whose heart will bleed if Bafana loses.
Carlos Alberto had nothing to loose by jumping ship, and neither does this Santana fool.
