FORZA AZURRI-ON PENALTIES WE LEAVE VIENNA

Vienna-Nirvana Drive, Lenasia

The mood in the Azurri camp was sombre, When I say Azurri Camp, my family is all Azurri, except for my father who was supporting the Dutch. It was a good atmosphere at home. As I said I need to watch the Italian games at home. Trust me I need to. I was joined by Ebie Kop End, The Toppie, rest of the family was watching in teh other lounge, Uncles Aziz and Ebie Loonat, Totti & his swaar Zaheer Moosa, and Mamoo

Firstly Id like to say Congrats to a buddy that got engaged this weekend. I couldnt make it but he is a Hazrat.I wish him well and another member bites the dust.........and so did the Azurri

Now look before I sum up my post and make excuses, We were terrible.Spain are deserved winners and Congrats to Ike Cassillas, It was his night and he proved his worth and status as the best keeper in the World AFTER Buffon, with two scintillating saves from Camoronesi who I dont know why Donadoni picks him, and De Natali's header.
Also congrats to Riyad Loonat, ZK, and Irfaan Adam....Go to the semis in peace but I WARN YOU THAT THE CURSE OF GUUS HIDDINK awaits you in the form of Russia.

Now to Donadoni. now before you start pasting me about Del Piero, I honestly thought that Donadoni would have made the attacking sub at the start of extra time. Why Wait. I mean even if Spain were a goal to the good ,We had to attack....Fuck he brings on Del with about 8 minutes to go. Del Piero would have been perfect in link up play.Instead we lacked substance, creativity and to be honest the game was boring and purely tactical. He waited too long for the CHANGE

Donadoni then explained the reason behind Alessandro Del Piero's introduction during extra time: "I could have put him in earlier, but [Daniele] De Rossi had a knock, so I could have ended up with ten men. Daniele remained on the pitch stoically until the end and everyone fought so hard.

As for the penalties, no qualms about that...De Rossi is a good penalty taker and so is De Natale. It happens. Del was scheduled to kick at 5. I was f#4ken nervous in the shoot out.Didnt know what to say or think. Ebie KOP end had to you tube me in my sad state. Overall though Casillas deserved the amn of teh match award and For Italy i thought Young Chielieni was exellent....But so it goes...LETS hope Spain dont choke and I want to see a Germany vs Spain Final

Thats all I can say for now
But Forza Azurri and Arivadece Donadoni.
I hope at least...see you in SA next year

I am absolutely gutted. The pain, shock and horror as only set in now.

All Azurri Fans I want to open up a point of discussion on the blog.
Luca Toni. Is he a great striker. Was he just purely attrocious as goal.com says.
Im interested for Feedback. Mo Cassim and Mohamed Riaz Ghani and Ebie Kop End...I want to hear ur views
THE CURSE OF GUUS HIDDINK
Lets not forget the Dutch defeat on Saturday Night. Russia are playing a level of football second to none. That Ashavin lity is class and phenominal. But Russia hit the Dutch hard and once agin Vienna will not be Orange because the Dutch fail again. What is it with these f#4ken Coaches. Can someone answer me Why was Robben on the Bench. Look in simple terms THE DUTCH had no answer. Seth because you have not sent in your posts, we await your response
THE COMEBACK KINGS
Turkey vs Croatia. I felt for Slavin Bilic. Only Man Utd can pull of a Turkey in the modern era. Rustu Turned from Villain to Hero and he didnt even have that markings under his eyes. But I think the Germans will reign supreme. Germany vs Spain Final, or could Russia very well Pull a Greece

  1. Well for starters I would not rank Toni as a great striker but more as a very effective one if :

a.) He is given enough quality service.
b.)He is not left too isolated as he does not have the pace to leave a man.

In my opinion he is a decent enough finisher as his record suggests but he is a very one dimensional player.

I think he greatest asset is his physique and he uses it well to be fair to him.

The problem that Italy had was that for whatever reason he was woefully off form in the Euro and we had no plan B also playing him as a lone striker leads to alot of long diagonal balls being played to him ..which is all well and good when you have another striker playing off him but as we saw in the Euro Donadoni playing Perotta as the # 10 was always destined to fail..

The dutch were massacred by the russians. the amount of times thay got behind the right back and got balls in was scary. they could have scored 5. Van basten like donadoni is a mugg!

  3. The russian pace of attack was scary...i saw this against the swedes as well...spain beware...chelsea want Arshavin..which is the main reason the dutch are out and pauvlychenko...russia is a good good team...capable of slaughtring anyone

"ROMAN Abramovich has told new boss Phil Scolari: Forget Deco - I want Andrei Arshavin."

  4. gibbs is at it again! what a guy? go you good thing gibbsy go!

"The wife of Proteas cricketer Herschelle Gibbs says he has started abusing alcohol and that he has become "verbally abusive", "aggressive" and "erratic".

She also claims he has been sending her "degrading" text messages.

Gibbs has allegedly prevented his wife from having access to his bank accounts and has also threatened to take her credit card.

The recent conflict between the two has prompted Tenielle Gibbs to lodge a Cape High Court application against him for monthly maintenance of R96 950 from July.

The application was supposed to be heard on Thursday but was postponed after Gibbs indicated he would oppose the application.

He is to file his answering papers next month, but has agreed to pay the money for June and July to cover home rental, electricity, insurance, domestic help, gardening, pool maintenance, security, a vehicle and medical aid.

He is in Britain but will return at the end of July.

The couple were married in the West Indies in June last year and do not have any children.

In an affidavit, Tenielle said she intends to divorce Gibbs, who "habitually embarrasses me at social gatherings, often while under the influence of alcohol".

She said she and Gibbs had enjoyed a lavish lifestyle, to which she had become accustomed. "I have a clear right to maintain the status quo which prevailed immediately prior to (Gibbs) commencing with his unacceptable behaviour and demanding that the marriage ends without further efforts at rescuing the relationship."

She added that the cricketer had always paid their expenses and that he should continue to do so. She said she estimated that his total earnings would amount to at least R7.3-million this year, excluding endorsements with Gunn&Moore, Oakley and Puma.

Judge Wilfred Thring postponed the matter to August."

  5. I will not be hurtful swoosh ;)

Honestly speaking Toni was off his game during the whole Euro and as Anon said you guys had no back up plan. The Toni that performed in the WC def was not at the Euros...

On another point Guus def has the some insane power to bring the underdogs to the last matches...good on Russia, they out played the Dutch all round and i think the Dutch were def missing their wing man.
I feel that they also have the power to upset the Spanish --- you never know what the future holds :)

(See I was being nice swoosh :P)

  6. The bast&^%d ITAL's are finally out... And to be honest they lasted 1 game extra..They wasted space in the quarters..

There dismal performance throughout the tournament finally showed dividends.. Its a pity that MUGG Mutu missed that penalty in the group game..

I wanted the GER vs ITA final.. But who cares.. The madders are out and thats all that counts..

If thats how u play after being crowned WORLD CHAMPS.. Then im sad to say FOOTBALL is gone to the sewers.. Toni is FUCKALL without RIBERY and SCHWEINSTEIGER feeding him..

Buffon the MUGG fumbled one also last nite.. To his luck it went on the post..

Spain werent all that grand either.. maybe both teams were playing cautious but that wasnt the same spain that we saw in group games.

FORZA DONADONI or shoud i say ARIOS DONADONI..

    DEUTSCHLAND !!!!!!!!!

  8. Have to admit the Dutch just never turned up for the second half and the entire extra time.

I understand Marco's thinking when he made the change taking off Boularhouz for Heitinga. Boularhouz had picked up a yellow and could easily have got himself sent off. But that was the turning point in the game as Heitinga looked lost. The first goal they got past him at right back and the cross was pusnished emphatically by the Russians. For the second he was missing again and Arshavin had too much pace for Ooijer who just let him go and Gio also left Torbinsky to attack the deflected cross and slot it home.
In the end they deserve the win, we were woeful and as we turned up in the opening 2 fixtures we failed to when the stakes were high in true Dutch fashion.

As a long time Dutch fan I expected it, during the Sweden Russia game I was praying for a Swede leveller at 1-0, coz I felt the Russians would surprise us. Yet again the Dutch have flattered to deceive.

As for Italy they don't deserve to win it. They play the most boring type of football imaginable. They just sit back and allow the opposition to pass the ball around. Will be a better semi with Russia vs Spain as the Russians at least try to play football. Watching Italy play was worse than watching the English play.

  20. The only thing livertwats can brag about is their new kits this season which by the way is getting worse by the year and looks like it's fading in that colour.
