JIHAD ABUS VS ALIS-THE RED BLOODATH.

For the first time on the blog we have the PRIVILEDGE OF WINNING A JIHAD. What a feeling. I don't know what to say. The owes in the Mosques were smiling. It was like a different mood man. Even Zohr time on Sunday, after Mosque you see the Liverpool owes and Utd owes faces.

sms from the MANCS were few and far between. Now we now who the better team in Manchester is.

I watched the game quietly with Ebie Jay and Firaz Jamaal. When Utd took the lead after just two minutes I sad Whoa, there it goes again. A Berbatov assist and Tevez finished calmly.

And then Dirk Kuyt the slave on the wing had a golden chance to equalise.I don't know how he missed. You know one thing about the MANCS, They dish us about the own goal and how Liverpool owes only talk about the past. But how quick are they to respond that they are the Champions of Europe etc.
When we talk about the team of the 80s and Istanbul etc, they tell us to talk of the future.

According to the Theory of the black commentator during Italia 90. "Brazil beat Argentina 3-1. Brazil beat SA 2-1 ,That means SA are better than Argentina

Hell if we take this guys Theory to head than we are the Champions of Europe. Not to say that Rafa is a European Mugg. He is a European tactical genius.

Anyway back to the game. 1-0 down after two minutes.then the freak own goal, which I thought was Van de Sars fault clearly. 1-1. From then on we dominated the Utd Muggs and they cant disagree. We could have hit them four had Kuyt scored his two chances. We ran them ragged.

Babbel, Macherano I thought was excellent.Working tirelessly from one end to the next...even Kuyt. His hard work made the goal...and we didn't even have Torres.

But for the MANCS i was surprised at how terrible they were.berbatov well it was his debut. He did create the goal.Anderon was bad. I dont know why the toppie played Rooney out on the right. But who gives a s@#te. We won the game and as the picture sent in to me by Cisse says it clearly

Benitez - Win Sent Shockwaves
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez believes the side's 2-1 victory over Manchester United has sent shockwaves around Europe, with The Reds kick-starting their Champions League campaign this week.

Having trailed to an early goal from Carlos Tevez Liverpool hit back with two of their own, the first a Wes Brown own goal after a mix up between the defender and Edwin Van Der Sar, and the winner coming courtesy of Ryan Babel's strike. The Reds then closed out the game to secure a much desired victory over their arch-rivals, and Benitez now believes the side can carry the confidence it has brought into their quest for a second Champions League title under the former Valencia manager."We could not have asked for a better boost to our confidence than a victory over the best team in England, and the European champions," he said. "Now we will go to Marseille in a good frame of mind. That was our best performance of the season and we now feel we can go into a Champions League game in good heart and spirit. "We are still unbeaten, but we had not been at our best. The victory against Manchester United has changed all that. "We have made a statement about our form in domestic competition, and the victory will not go unnoticed in Europe. "We did it without Torres and Gerrard, and we will have to wait and see how they are for Europe. "We have a few training sessions now before the game in France, and both of them have been improving all the time."

  36. Liverpool played really well, javier and xabi just ran the game...the first 25 mins United showed their quality but as soon as we settled down and the nerves had passed, we really dominated. As andy gray said, ' only the most staunch of united fan would disagree that liverpool didnt deserve it'

    ReplyDelete
  37. One thing that pisses be off is the media! what seems to be missing from all the reports and comments is any criticism of Fergie - playing Rooney wide on the right is rubbish and if Rafa does that with say Gerrard all the "experts" question his tactics. Ferguson the tactical arsehole who lost the game

    ReplyDelete
  38. Pure Bliss!
Absolutely phenomical display from the boys. Took the game to Man Utd, and as soon as they did, Man Utd had no answer, caused them to make school boy errors.

  39. We outplayed them with a great team performance and thoroughly deserved all three points! You’ll read all the sour grape comments later im sure and on how lucky we were! Some arrant SCUM BAGS carried on as if no game took place over the weekend, taking an early Itikaaf I think!
Riera I thought had an excellent game considering it was his debut and his presence led to Wes Brown panicking, which gave us the goal! Monster Mash culprit of the 1st goal came back brilliantly and controlled really well! Alonso also excellent … Kuyt could and should have added to the misery but played well and I was hoping for Robbie to open his account, but that’s not far away…
“GO” Blame Fungus-son! He was culpable in engineering such a lame display. What the hell was Vidic thinking with his rash challenges? Ridiculous! But I guess that’s how you play when you outclassed!

  40. Congrats to you Fools. You guys deserved the win as you guys bossed the midfield. Poor tactics and a poor performance from us. We moved away from our natural game which thrives on width. A midfield with 3 central midfielders and a striker is not playing to our strengths.

Fergie got it wrong for the 1st time in 4 years, but we just need to pick up and carry on. Last year this time we were on 2 points and written off.

But a deserved win and an off day for us, but it's the leagues not won in September.

My worry is Milan. Rijkaard needs to be contacted soon. Ancelotti is struggling to reach the heights and it's time for a fresh approach. I'm not keen on Donadoni, though, he was shocking at the Euro's. He's play was fantastic for Milan but he's coaching style is not the Milan way.

Again well done, and a deserved victory for the fools...

  41. Player Ratings: Liverpool 2-1 Manchester United
After Liverpool came from behind to defeat Manchester United 2-1 at Anfield this afternoon, Goal.com's Chris Myson analyses the performances of the players on show.

    Liverpool

Pepe Reina - 7: Helpless for Tevez’s opener, but other than that had very little to do in terms of shot stopping. Made one very important save from Giggs in the second half when the score was still 1-1.

Alvaro Arbeloa - 6: A decent defensive performance from Arbeloa, although he was not particularly prominent going forward. An improving player.

Jamie Carragher – 7: A reliable performance from the captain on the day. Perhaps could have done more to stop Berbatov’s cut-back for United’s goal, but other than that led the side well and denied the visitors any other clear opportunities.

Martin Skrtel - 7: A generally composed display from Skrtel. As with Carragher, did not have a huge amount to do in the second half and even charged forward at one point - firing in a decent long-range effort.

Fabio Aurelio - 7: Quiet in the first-half, but improved significantly in the second as he and Riera ensured that Liverpool’s left side put Rooney and Brown and under consistent pressure on United’s right.

Yossi Benayoun – 6: Had a few neat touches and well timed runs, but did not see enough of the ball to leave a marked influence on the game. Substituted in the second half.

Javier Mascherano - 7: Allowed Tevez to drift free for the opening goal, but made up for it with a super performance from then onwards. A great run helped to create the second goal, and alongside Alonso the Argentine ensured that Berbatov and Tevez’s second half service was minimal.

Xabi Alonso - 7: Provided the back four with an excellent shield and dictated the game more and more as the game went on as Liverpool won the midfield battle. A good performance.

Albert Riera - 7: An impressive debut from Riera. Quiet to begin with, but grew as the game progressed and troubled United by running at them with pace and whipping in some dangerous crosses. Earned a standing ovation when substituted, looks promising based on that one performance.

Dirk Kuyt - 8: A superb performance from Kuyt. Always looked the most likely for Liverpool and seemed to enjoy being used as a striker. Had numerous attempts on goal and probably should have scored, set-up the winning goal with a calm cut-back under pressure. Always running and attempting to influence the game.

Robbie Keane – 5: Another ineffective display from Keane. Had two occasions where he completely missed the ball, one in each half, but will be relieved that his side won, meaning that his performance is unlikely to be as heavily scrutinised.

    Substitutions:

Gerrard – 6: Didn’t really affect the game, but Pool did score the winner when he was on the pitch. Gave the ball away moments after arriving on the pitch and was almost punished by Giggs. Babel - 8: Scored the winning goal with one of his only touches to send the Kop into raptures. Hyypia – n/a: On in the latter stages.

    Manchester United

Edwin van der Sar - 5: A day to forget for the experienced Dutchman. Fumbled from a corner early on and will have to take the majority of the blame for Brown’s own goal as he dealt with the situation poorly.

Wesley Brown – 5: Scored an own goal, although many will feel he was hard done by. Other than that offered nowhere near what he is capable of an attacking threat and was terrorised by Riera for a spell in the second half.

Rio Ferdinand – 7: Nothing wrong with the performance of the England international. Was composed on the ball and his positional play was solid. Was not at fault for either of Liverpool’s goals.

Nemanja Vidic – 5: Started well, but was careless in possession at times as United struggled to hold on to the ball. Sent-off for a reckless challenge on Alonso having already been yellow carded.

Patrice Evra – 6: Had a bang on the head early on and wasn’t really prominent in this one. A steady enough display as he tried to influence proceedings going forward, but like with the majority of his team-mates, it was not to be his day.

Anderson – 7: Had an excellent first half from an unusual position on the left wing. Brilliantly fed Berbatov in the build-up to United’s goal and also created a good chance for Tevez. Was less effective as the game progressed, with United’s midfield over-ran at times.

Michael Carrick – 5: Back in the team after injury, but didn’t get into the match as his passing seemed to be off the usual radar. Picked up a knock towards the end of the first half and did not return after the interval.

Paul Scholes – 6: Steady enough, but didn’t influence the game as much as he would have hoped. Was eventually substituted as the experienced campaigner’s forays forward became less and less regular.

Wayne Rooney – 6: Deployed on the right wing of a 4-4-2 to accommodate Berbatov, the debate will continue as to where he is best used. Hard working display but Rooney found himself in his own half more often than Liverpool’s. The impending return of Ronaldo provides Ferguson with an even trickier balancing act.

Dimitar Berbatov – 7: Started brightly and created Tevez’s goal as his debut got off to an ideal start. Saw less and less of the ball as the game moved into the closing stages and picked up a knock on the hour mark, but was causing serious problems for the Liverpool defence throughout the first 25 minutes.

Carlos Tevez – 7: Finished extremely well after just three minutes to hand Untied a lead they were unable to hold on to. Like Berbatov, suffered from a lack of service in the second half, which will frustrate United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as Tevez consistently looks as threatening as anyone when he is involved in the play.

    Substitutions:

Giggs – 5: Had a good shot, which was saved well by Reina, but will regret not clearing the ball when Mascherano weaved past him in the build-up to the winning goal. Hargreaves - 6: Was unable to prevent Liverpool from dominating the midfield battle in the second half, but had some nice passes. Nani - n/a: Thrown on in search of an equaliser.

United States talk show queen Oprah Winfrey is due to open her long-awaited school on Tuesday -- fulfilling a promise she made to former President Nelson Mandela six years ago and giving more than 150 poor South African girls a chance for a better future.

Mandela was invited to be among the dignitaries at the opening of the lavish Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in the small town of Henley-on-Klip, south of Johannesburg. He was among string of international celebrities expected to attend -- though the guest list was kept secret.

Oprah said she decided to build her own school because she was tired of charity from a distance.

"When I first started making a lot of money, I really became frustrated with the fact that all I did was write cheque after cheque to this or that charity without really feeling like it was a part of me," she said in an interview with Newsweek magazine which went on sale on Monday.

"At a certain point, you want to feel that connection."

The $40-million (about R80-million) academy aims to give 152 girls from deprived backgrounds a quality education in a country where schools are struggling to overcome the legacy of apartheid.

Heightening concerns about declining standards in South Africa's schooling system, the education department said last week that the school leaving matriculation exam pass rate had dropped for the third straight year.

This year's matriculation class, which started school the same year as multiracial elections in 1994, was dubbed "Madiba's Children" after the clan name for Mandela, who came to power with the onset of democracy.

Yet two-thirds of the 1ร‚ 667ร‚ 000 children who started school 12 years ago dropped out, and only 5% of the total intake are eligible to go to university.

    CONTINUES BELOW

"We know that we still have much to do to guarantee proper education for our children, as well as provide the necessary training for those who need the skills that our society end economy demand," President Thabo Mbeki said in a New Year's message on Monday.

Many state-funded schools, especially in the sprawling townships that sprang up under white racist rule, are hopelessly overcrowded and lack even basic facilities like books. They are also plagued by gang violence, drugs and a high rate of pregnancy among school girls.

Top class study and sporting facilities are available, but are largely confined to private schools which are still dominated by the white minority as they are too expensive for many black and mixed race South Africans.

Winfrey's academy offers a way out for the 152 girls, aged 11-12, who were selected from 3ร‚ 500 applications across the country.

To qualify, they had to show both academic and leadership potential and have a household income of no more than R5ร‚ 000 ($787) a month. Eventually the academy will accommodate 450 girls.

Many were interviewed by the celebrity, who was reported to have been moved by visits to some of the girls' homes, a reminder of her own poor beginnings.

Winfrey, who reportedly threw a lavish New Year's Eve party at the Sun City resort before the opening of her academy, launched the project with Mandela in 2000.

Built on 21 hectares, the 28-building campus, which was originally to cost $10-million, is said to resemble a luxury hotel more than the rundown schools most of the girls know. It boasts state-of-the-art classrooms, computer and science laboratories, a library and theatre as well a wellness centre.

"These girls deserve to be surrounded by beauty, and beauty does inspire," Winfrey told Newsweek.

"I wanted this to be a place of honour for them because these girls have never been treated with kindness. They've never been told they are pretty or have wonderful dimples. I wanted to hear those things as a child." รข€“ Sapa-AP

NEW YORK: Before Wednesday, few could have imagined the names "Oprah Winfrey" and "Cormac McCarthy" appearing in the same sentence.

McCarthy, one of the United States' most revered and press-shy authors — a man only slightly more accessible than J.D. Salinger — will give his first ever television interview, lured by Winfrey, publishing's biggest hit-maker and a media superstar.

Winfrey announced Wednesday on her TV talk show that McCarthy's "The Road" was her new book club pick.

"Mr. McCarthy respects her work, admires what she has accomplished, has an awareness of her book club, and thought it would be interesting to participate in the conversation with Oprah," McCarthy's publicist, Paul Bogaards of Alfred A. Knopf, told The Associated Press. "He knew who she was when she called."

In selecting "The Road," not only will Winfrey meet with an author who, according to Bogaards, has given just two interviews in the past 40 years, but she has taken on a novel with little of the uplifting spirit she often favors.

"The Road," published last September by Knopf, is a sparely written story of a father and son trying to survive as they wander through a burned, bare, post-nuclear landscape. Praised almost universally by reviewers, it was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle prize and is considered a leading contender for the Pulitzer Prize.

"It's unlike anything I've ever chosen as a book club selection before because it's post-apocalyptic. (It is) very unusual for me to select this book, but it's fascinating," Winfrey said on her show.

McCarthy, 73, is known for novels such as "All the Pretty Horses" and "Blood Meridian," and has been widely cited as an heir to William Faulkner for his biblical prose and rural settings. He has been called too sentimental, but critic Harold Bloom, famous for his discernment, regards McCarthy as one of the greatest living American writers, along with Don DeLillo, Philip Roth and Thomas Pynchon.

"That shows good taste on her part," Bloom said of Winfrey's choice.

Winfrey has taken on harsher stories before, such as Elie Wiesel's Holocaust classic, "Night," and, notoriously, James Frey's "A Million Little Pieces," a memoir of addiction and recovery that turned out to be largely fabricated.

In the coming weeks, the reclusive McCarthy, who did not appear on Wednesday's show and who lives in New Mexico, will conduct his "first television interview ever," Winfrey said.

"It's a bit of a surprise, but a wonderful surprise," McCarthy's editor, Knopf president Sonny Mehta, told the AP. "This is good news for those of us who have been in the Cormac McCarthy business for a very long time."

"The Road" is one of McCarthy's most popular books, spending several weeks on numerous best seller lists. According to Nielsen BookScan, which tracks about 70 percent of industry sales, it has sold 138,000 copies in hardcover in the United States. Thanks to Winfrey, that total should increase by hundreds of thousands. A paperback was not planned until September, but Vintage Books, understandably, is publishing one now, with a massive first printing of 950,000 copies.

"It's going to be a big year for Cormac," said Mehta, noting the planned release later this year of the Coen brothers film, "No Country for Old Men," based on the McCarthy novel of the same name.

Winfrey's choice also marks the first time in five years that she has picked a work of contemporary fiction. In 2002, she suspended the club for a year and revived it with an emphasis on "classics," such as John Steinbeck's "East of Eden" and Faulkner's "As I Lay Dying." Her pick before McCarthy was Sidney Poitier's memoir, "The Measure of a Man."

  61. Kate and Gerry McCann in £1million deal to tell all to Oprah Winfrey
    By VANESSA ALLEN
    Last updated at 10:55 26 January 2008

Comments (67) Add to My Stories
The parents of Madeleine McCann are in talks to strike a £1million deal with two of America's biggest chat show stars.

Kate and Gerry McCann are at the centre of a bidding war between Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters.

Both celebrities are desperate to land an exclusive deal for the couple to talk about their missing daughter. If it goes ahead, it will be the largest publicly-known amount ever paid for a broadcast interview.

    Scroll down for more ...

Oprah Winfrey: Guests on her 'confessional' talk show have included celebrities and presidents, such as Bill Clinton

Barbara Walters: Tempted out of 'semi-retirement'

The McCanns, both 39, say they have been forced to consider the bids because their £1.2million Find Madeleine appeal fund is expected to run dry by June.

But the move, expected to earn them £1million, will horrify those who have already accused them of cashing in since their daughter, then three, vanished from their holiday apartment in Portugal last May.

The couple's representatives have already met with producers to discuss turning the eight-month investigation into the disappearance into a film and could earn up to another £1million from selling the film and book rights.

Earlier this month, they faced widespread criticism over their decision to give an interview to glossy society magazine Vanity Fair.

Last night, their spokesman Clarence Mitchell confirmed that representatives of Mr and Mrs McCann had held talks with producers from both shows, which attract huge audiences in the U.S.

But he denied they were selling their story to the highest bidder and said money would not be the deciding factor. The couple will appear on the show which can best help to search for Madeleine, he insisted.

"We have been approached by representatives for both Oprah and Barbara," he added. "They want an exclusive interview with Kate and Gerry.

"We are discussing it but it doesn't mean we are definitely doing it. Nothing has been agreed."

Mr Mitchell said the McCanns would only agree to a deal which would widen the search for their daughter.

The couple, both doctors, also want to campaign for a better Europe-wide alert system for missing children, based on an American model.

    Scroll down for more ...

Spanish TV: Kate and Gerry McCann in front of the cameras last October

But the prospect of them appearing on a chat show sofa while they remain official suspects in Madeleine's disappearance will enrage their critics.

Billionaire Miss Winfrey, 53, styles herself as "America's Best Friend" and is considered one of the most influential women in the world. She has made her name from the ever-popular tabloid style soft-focus "confessional" talk show.

Her interview with fallen pop star Michael Jackson in 1993 was watched by 100million viewers worldwide, making it one of the most watched programmes ever.

Her 78-year-old rival Miss Walters has offered to come out of semi-retirement to conduct the McCann interview.

She claims to have interviewed more politicians and stars than any other journalist. Her 1999 interview with President Bill Clinton's alleged lover Monica Lewinsky attracted an audience of 74million viewers.

A source close to the McCanns said their representatives had spoken most with Miss Walters' producers at ABC News. The friend said: "She is like royalty and has done every major interview, with the presidents and the biggest stars. Her people claim to have the biggest show in the States."

Mr and Mrs McCann have until now always shunned offers from chat shows, saying they want to be perceived as ordinary parents, not as celebrities.

The successful bidder for their story could face disappointment about how much they could actually reveal on any chat show.

As suspects, they are barred by strict Portuguese secrecy laws from discussing any aspect of the case itself, including the events of the night of May 3 when Madeleine vanished from their apartment in Praia da Luz on the Algrave.

But they have given a handful of interviews since being made suspects, in which they have discussed their feelings about that development and continued to appeal for their daughter's safe return.

  62. Oprah Winfrey to be in Denver as Barack Obama accepts nomination
    BY PATRICK HUGUENIN
    DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

    Sunday, August 24th 2008, 7:20 PM

    Richards/Getty

Oprah Winfrey will be front and center when Barack Obama accepts the nomination of the Democratic Party.

Barack Obama's famous fans are many, and celebs from Kanye West to George Clooney are slated to stump for the nominee in Denver. But it's Obama's starriest endorser, Oprah Winfrey, who will be front and center.

Winfrey will be cheering as Obama accepts his party's presidential nomination Thursday, her reps confirm. Though the TV queen has no plans to speak at the Democratic convention, her presence is a sign that she's not going to let the critics of her vocal support stop her.

Since this time last year, Winfrey has been the highest-profile supporter of the nominee. The 54-year-old talk show host even campaigned for Obama during the Democratic primary, speaking to tens of thousands of supporters at rallies around the country.

Obama is the first presidential candidate Winfrey has endorsed. In September 2007, she threw him a private fund-raising bash at her 42-acre spread in Montecito, Calif. The party reportedly raised $3 million for the Obama campaign and attracted stars such as Cindy Crawford, Sidney Poitier and Chris Rock.

In December, Winfrey took her message to the masses, drawing both raves and criticism. Over the course of a weekend, Winfrey held rallies in key states. By the time she had visited South Carolina, Iowa and New Hampshire, she had appeared before some 70,000 supporters, with her rally at a South Carolina football stadium bringing out 30,000 people.

"For the first time in my life, I feel compelled to stand up and speak for the man who I believe has a new vision for America," Winfrey announced in Iowa.

For some, Winfrey's tour was considered a golden touch. After all, if her talk show is any indication, Winfrey's endorsement can sell anything from books to bras.

Critics, however, dubbed the appearances "Oprahpalooza" and accused Winfrey of diverting attention and polarizing the Democratic race. Some felt that she should have supported Hillary Clinton instead of Obama, and commenters on Oprah.com branded Winfrey a "traitor" to her gender.

Some of the vitriol came from fellow celebs. "She and she alone split the women's vote," comedian Roseanne Barr fumed on her personal blog, "thereby destabilizing the entire party and fracturing it forever along racial and gender lines."

In an interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC, Winfrey said, "My being in support of Barack Obama is not my being against Hillary Clinton or anyone else. ... My vote for is not a vote against anybody. It's just a vote for."

By spring 2008, media watchdogs theorized that Winfrey's foray into politics may have even cost her viewers. In 2008, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" reportedly suffered a 7% ratings slide.

But if Winfrey has decided to step back from the podium, her trip to Denver shows that her support for the candidate remains as strong as ever. When Obama clinched the Democratic nomination, she was nothing short of ecstatic, and told "Entertainment Tonight," "I'm euphoric. I've been doing the happy dance all day."

Also Fergie assuming we’d play 5 in the middle and 1 up top, goes for the juglar from the off. Yep. Another huge error on his behalf.

Did Rafa know how Fergie would set out his team?
Well, obviously I don’t know that for sure. But I think you can safely guess Rafa had a good idea who it would be and how they would play, and therefore he set about to nullify it.
In my opinion, Rafa out thought Fergie every inch of the way.
