EASTER AT THE JHB GENERAL CANCER WARD FOR KIDS
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On Saturday the Swoosh0018 Team spent the afternoon of Easter Saturday at the JHB General Cancer ward for kids. It was our second visit and a chance to meet the kids and parents. Again, the smiles just from one Easter Egg were amazing and made the afternoon so rewarding. As usual we made our tour through the ward and met each kid. Again nothing can ever prepare you for what you will experience and it changes your life and makes you think. Jeez these are just kids and there have their whole life ahead of them you know. In the first ward we met a kid that was six months. His left eye was so swollen that it protruded like a tennis ball. His mom with a smile said that he is getting better. I felt so helpless. The baby smiled, reached out a hand and clutched the Easter Egg. Many of the kids were sleeping and resting and we just said hello, shook hands ,gave them an Easter Egg and spoke to the parents about their condition and well being. Then in the second ward my heart crumbled when I seen a 4 month old baby called Daniel. He stared at us with his blue eyes, reached out a hand when he seen the Easter Egg. Daniels stomach was swollen and so bloated that it had blue marks all over. His Mum smiled and said that Baby Daniel was diagnosed with some sort of stomach Cancer. To see these kids fight and to see the plight of the parents and the strength that they have, makes you wonder you know. How big are our problems.Toward the end we came across a set of parents who's sixteen year old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. After my chat with them I realised the plight and patience that these parents have to endure. You raise your daughter from when she was born only to fight cancer that has infiltrated her when she is 16.

This is such a sad video. Please support my foundation so we can help ease the suffering of kids.We can make a difference together. Its often difficult to take pictures and tell someone that this is what its about. This video clearly illustrates the message I'm trying to get across to get your support. This is the reality. I lost my cousin and close friend to leukemia many years ago. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

SINCE we are not allowed to take pictures at the hospital I URGER EVERYONE to please watch this video below, because in this exceptionally sad video it is a perfect example of the scenes that you encounter when you visit kids for cancer. You have to have the bottle for it,You cannot break down. Its a place where color, race or religeon doesnt matter, Its about the people next to you and thats that,Thats all it is.And its a place where you walk out knowing that your problems are trivial

My heart, hopes and prayers go out to the kids, parents and staff of Ward 286 at the Johannesburg General Cancer Ward for Kids

MAY YOU GROW FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH & WE WISH YOU ALL A SPEEDY RECOVERY
