SEMI FINALS FIRST LEG

MAN UTD VS ARSENAL
It was a packed house at Nescafe Fordsburg again as we watched the MANCS or should I say hoped the MANCS were gunned down. But again it was disappointment and credit to the MANCS.They outplayed Arsenal. Aluminia was called upon many a time and it could be more.
Lucky that Penaltino shot didnt go in. What a strike but. I think thats all Penaltinho did. Overall though Arsenal were woeful or were the MANCS just better. UTD controled the game from teh outset and even though its the first leg and both games are pretty open.Arsenal were disaapointing on the night. I knew the MUGGS will fail against UTD. But UTD will be sorry that they didnt take more from the game
Berbatov really looks like he has no liss to play. I think the MANCS should dump him.
ABR-DID YOU SEE PENALTINHO DIVE AND CRY!
But to the second leg we go and its all OPEN. Arsenal at the Emirates, but if the MANCS get that away goal. Its game over
CHELSEA VS BARCELONA
It was a boring game and a boring Chelsea. But the tactic worked and suits Chelsea. Maybe they believe that they can beat Barcelona at the Bridge. Barca though should feel hard done by. A strong penalty decision was turned down and Borjan missed a sitter.Bosingwa had Messi taped and 0-0 was drab. Tonight though should be interesting. Lets see if Arsenal and Asharvin can do the damage.

Come on Arsenal. Prove yourselves tonight. I wonder if the toppie Fergie will attack or play defensive. Are you MANCS worried

  1. Sorry Swoosh Arshavin can do no damage tonite. He is cup tied and cannot play.

  3. Barca totally outplayed Chelsea...still, it's the scoreline that counts and they did well to hold Barca to a 0-0 draw.

Well, no sense in being scared now...we will have to wait and check what happens tonight.

Btw, tonight will be Giggsys' 800th game for ManU (if he does play). Pretty cool, huh?

  9. Referee Howard Webb has admitted he was wrong to award Manchester United a penalty in their 5-2 come-from-behind victory over Tottenham on Saturday.

Spurs had been leading 2-0 at Old Trafford when Webb's decision allowed United to pull a goal back from the penalty spot.

Webb ruled that Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes had fouled Michael Carrick after 57 minutes; only for television replays to show he had palmed the ball away to safety before colliding with the midfielder.

The decision proved to be the catalyst for United's comeback as Sir Alex Ferguson's side scored a further four goals after Cristiano Ronaldo had reduced the deficit from the spot.

Webb has now admitted upon viewing video evidence that he was wrong to award United a penalty, although at the time he felt he had decided on the right course of action.
    Mistake

"I've looked at it again and I think it was a mistake but we make these decisions honestly," Webb conceded. "It's not always easy to see the way the play pans out from pitch level.

"I could see the Manchester United player touch the ball and saw him get clattered by the goalkeeper but didn't see the extra deviation from the goalkeeper's fingers touching the ball.

"I'm disappointed as I always strive for perfection. I'll look at the tape in detail later in the week and try to avoid it happening again in the future.

"I never want to have a negative impact on a game and I get no pleasure from not reaching the high standards we set ourselves. But show me a man who's never made a mistake and I'll show you a man who's done nothing."

  16. Chelsea were not outplayed, they played with tactics & guile, just as United did last season against Barca. Trust Chelsea to get the result they want at the Bridge. There is a way to play the Spanish: physical when you away & high paced when you at home. They simply cannot handle that.

Messi looked second rate, if he had to play in the Premiership he would simply get kicked off the ball week in & out. He lacks a physical presence.

  24. Well boys Utd did what was needed in not conceding an away goal. However the tie is still wide open. We had the chances to kill the game off. Giggs was on side for his goal, however theres no point in crying about that.

As for my comment about messi, i know his class, but people on this blog should realise that Big players also have games where the give no impact at all. So STOP SLATING RONALDO.

  25. hey swoosh... i did actually see ronaldo cry and dive like the lil girl we know him to be. He struck a fantastic shot the hit the cross bar, so we know he has the skill... its just the kak attitude that we HATE...

Biggy : you right anyone can have an off game, but lack of BMT seems to be more the norm for ronaldo.

lastly i would like to share a nice comment on diving : " i was watching the chelsea barca game, and my 5 year old son bumped into the telly. Guess what? Drogba fell down.

  33. Biggy, shukr ... I'm not the bad luck for United. Stunning performance from Rooney and Fletch had a good game too.

As for all the chirps about calls going United's way at OT, I think last night disproved that theory.

As for Ronaldo, that post rattling shot was his only contribution to the game. Last night was by far his worst performance. Don't know what was going thru the boys mind. Didn't run at players, was practically forcing Johnny O to cross balls in, had a go Rooney for passing the ball to him and spent 80% of the second half in an offside position. He actually killed 3 counter attacks spear headed by Rooney by not dropping back and camping off side.

I know ABR will be over well pleased with Ronaldo's shocking display last night, he was an utter mugg on the pitch - hopefully it was a one-time only deal and SAF will have sorted him out before the trip to the Emirates.

It's half time and we're up 0-1, let's hope we can see it thru and make to Rome
