SUPER TUESDAYS ON SWOOSH0018

Another long weekend has passed and a busy one for me. Wedding on the weekend and a glittering function on Saturday Night. And while the food was being sent from the Degs to the tables the owes were chanting out the scores of the Man Utd game.

When the Soup came out it was 2-0. When they served the Mutton Karrai and prawn curry, It was 5-2. What the f34k. Even the grooms father, my oom Imtiaz who was smiling more at the Nikaah when the Anfield result filtered in lost his sparkle.

And then obviously 80% of the hall was all smiles when the score read 5-2.
I mean a team with honour and prestige like Spurs you expect them to hold a 2-0 lead. I was at the wedding so i dunno how was the game. But UTD must have been in sublime form to come down from two goals and win 5-2. And rumours are flying that KAKA could be on his way there. If he does which I dont think he will then they will surely be FULL OF SHIT.
But what again supposed to be a great moment for us turned sour and became a great moment fro the MANCS

As for Liverpool and Chelsea they both won.I didnt watch the game so i cant comment but it all meant nothing when the MANCS bounced back from what we all thought was defeat

Juve also are f#4king it up in Serie A after drawing 2-2 with Reginna. Milan won four and Inter were beaten by Napoli. Is the title race wide open?

In La Liga

And in Bundesliga Klinsman was sensationally sacked.Killa please comment on this.

And in local ball, Tukkies and Pretoria University have progressed to the final of teh Nedbank Cup.What a thing that is
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IPL is class to watch and at this stage the Deccon Chargers look like they going all the way. I got my money on Adma Gilchrest and Gibbs and Co.
But great spell of bowling yesterday from our very own Yusuf Abdullah. 3/21.Thats great figures.Cant wait for the action to hit JHB. But please feel free to leave comments on the IPL Action.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rafael Nadal won again in Monte Carlo and is unbeaten on 25 matches. Now its off to the Rome Masters series.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for Formula 1.Can someone please tell me if Ferrari are part of F1 this season?

As for Super 14

It’s on for Bulls and Sharks
by Gavin Rich 27 April 2009 (07:11)
Pierre Spies © Gallo ImagesThe South African teams helped each other out and also got some assistance from others to leave the Vodacom Bulls and Sharks strongly in the running for home semifinals after the tenth round of the Vodacom Super 14.

With three weekends of league action remaining, the Bulls are second following their excellent 33-27 win over the Chiefs in the plum fixture of this past weekend at Loftus. The Sharks, who looked as though they may fall out of the top four during their off-week, saw things conspire in their favour and managed to hold onto fourth.
It was a well deserved win for the Bulls, and it brought to an end a six-match unbeaten run for the Chiefs.
As predicted, the game was a clash of styles, with the Bulls’ game triumphing as perhaps it always was going to at altitude, and perhaps it should be surprising that the Chiefs’ first false note in a while came against one of the better defence and territory orientated teams in the competition.
Earlier on Saturday both the Bulls and Sharks were helped in their quest for semifinal places by the excellent win the Cheetahs scored against the Crusaders in Bloemfontein. The Crusaders looked for all the world like a team destined to retain their Super 14 trophy when they beat the Sharks in Durban the previous week, but the great defensive game of the Cheetahs made them look ordinary.
The Crusaders did have plenty of attacking opportunities, but they were knocked back by the strong-tackling Cheetahs in the tackle and were forced into making mistakes. All the spilled balls prevented them from getting any momentum, and it was the Cheetahs who took their few scoring chances a lot better than their opponents did as Hennie Danniller and Jongi Nokwe rounded off two excellent build-ups in each half.
The Bloemfontein game was not the only one to go the Sharks’ way. Johann Muller’s team might have feared the worst when they were forced to sit through their bye weekend within range of several challenging teams and in grave danger of dropping out of the top four.
At the start of the weekend it was conceivable that the Sharks would be sixth or seventh by Monday, but the Reds joined the Cheetahs in scoring an upset, with the Blues going down on their home turf. The Brumbies’ emotional ride following the tragic death of Shawn MacKay also came to an end as the Hurricanes destroyed them in Wellington.
Even the Stormers could said to have joined in the South African push for Super 14 glory as their hard-fought and well-deserved 18-11 win in Dunedin effectively sounded the final death-knell to any chance of the Highlanders challenging for a top four spot.
The Stormers could be even more useful to the Bulls if they follow up that performance with a win over the Chiefs in Cape Town this coming weekend. It is a result that seems a lot less unlikely than it did before Friday.

  2. Swoosh, i was also at a wedding in a Liverpool stronghold. Scores were screamed out across the tables as UTD went down 2-0. Uncles coming up to me and rubbing in the scoreline, claiming that they(liverpool) are well and truely on the way to there first league title after 19 yr drought. One of the lities even commented, finally i will know what it feels like for my side to win the league... However as the chows came out, the comments stopped and the mood changed. Then an sms came through that the MANCS as u lot like calling us are up 4-2. What a sigh of relief from me, knowing how important every game is.

One has to give credit for 5 second half goals and a great fightback. Perhaps that penalty was not the most convincing but in football sometimes those calls go against you and sometimes for you.

That display was one needed. One that showed the rest of the EPL why we are the current champions.

Now for the Big game against the gunners. They certainly in good form and we in for a mouth watering clash of Englands finest. I think if we keep Cesc out of the game we have a strong chance of getting to Rome. However thats not as easy as many UTD fans think.

  4. What a game. In 2001 we had an Argentine in the team as we came from 3-0 down to win 5-3, on Saturday it was another Argentine that provided the spark. Tevez brought the energy needed and Rooney was superb. Even Ronaldo stepped up his game and Berba linked it all together.
You could just picture the Liverfools smiles dissapear when Rooney equalised and I'm sure their expression was priceless when Ronaldo headed in the 3rd.

Yip tomorrow nite is gonna be tough. Coming up against probably the most gifted midfielder in the world, and an on form one at that we need to be at our best. I was reading that Wenger may deploy Cesc further up the field, thats a frightening thought. True Biggy it's all about stopping Cesc from playing. Someone in the team is gonna have a tough job.

As for the Scudetto, Milan are now 7 points behind with 5 games to go. It's still very much Inter's title to lose. 3 defeats is what is needed and with the opposition Inter have left thats a tall order. Only Lazio seem capable. We have left it too late to hit form.

Bayern were hasty, they should have given the Klinsmann another year. He's just come into the job, give him time to build properly.

  12. Swoosh, really disappointed no mention of Giggsy being named PFA player of the year. Watched the awards last night and the tribute to Giggsy was amazing and his humilty on accepting the award was an example to any young footballer.

Whether you're an ABU or ALI, you have to give credit to Giggsy. His record speaks volumes about the man. It'll be sad day at OT when he hangs up his boots.

The most deocrated player in English Football - RYAN GIGGS - Loved by the reds, feared by the blues, he's RYAN GIGGS !!!

  13. Well said Shoobs. Giggsy is a Legend. I hope u not going to O.T for the semi, cos the last two utd games u watched we ended up loosing!

  14. Giggs won PFA with 12 starts and 1 goal......Effen disgrace to the pedigree of the award

    ReplyDelete
  15. Giggs winning the award was a disgrace to the pedigree of the award..

He started 12 games scoring 1 goal.. How can someone win the award for effen starting 12 games.. They made nominees in Jan and up until that point okes like Lampard, Rooney, Torres, Gerrard,Cesc Fabregas were either out of form or injured..

By right it had to go to Nemanja Vidic.. He was consistent throughout the season and had some big performances to put United where they are..Even Rooney of late is playing excellent.. After JAN that man found the form of his life.. He even deserves it more than giggs..

They gave the oke the award out of sentimentality.. That is bull shit.. Last year Ronaldo deserved it.. All the years Thierry Henry won it, he deserved it.. van Nistelrooy deserved it.. Ginola, Bergkamp,Terry, Gerrard, Cantona, Shearer etc all deserved it based on individual performances throughout the season..

Giggs is war horse, no doubt but him getting it on long service and sentimentality is a disgrace.. Next year give it to GARY SPEED for being in the premiership from the start..

  16. rooney is better than messi

    "go" rooney u beauty

  17. Eish Biggy, I am actually going to the semi and you've not been the first to tell me I could be United's bad luck, but my viewing record at OT is in good form, over a dozen matches watched and just 1 defeat witnessed (last years FA cup quarter final against Pompey), so hopefully I won't bring an bad luck to OT.

On the note of Giggsy getting the award, remember the PFA Player of the year award is decided by fellow footballers in the league i.e. the same people who have played AGAINST Giggsy. Granted there was a bit of sentimentality involved, but ultimately Giggsy has been more than effective in the games he's played this season.

  26. KILLA - You claim to know so much about footall, and yet you fail to recognise what a class player The Legendary Ryan Giggs is.
Rather stick to commenting on players from teams you actually support (Liverpool & Bayern Munich).

Giggy deserved the award just as anyone before him has...regardless of how many starts he had and how many goals he scored---those stats do not make a person a good football player.
Who are you to say he didn't deserve it? Have you followed his stellar career? Clearly not because if you did, you would know how much he does actually deserve any accolade that he receives.
His fellow football players voted him as the clear winner, so you go jump in the Hartebeespoort Dam if you think he does not deserve it---along with anyone else who might agree with you!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Long live King Messi!

All hail UTD hail to the thy thain of Nou Camp!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous u nit wit.. The PFA is not an award that is given to someone with a "stellar career".

They have an award for that.. I think its called a Lifetime Achievemnt or some shit like that.

how can you say that Giggs based on THIS SEASONS performance deserves it more than VIDIC/VAN DER SAR and ROONEY !!!

Giggs is class, no doubt. But this partucluar award is one HE DOES NOT DESERVE..

Seth - u mentioned that when the LIONS take the field they a great team.

  30. I was better than Giggs.
    He won PFA for fuckall
i won WORLD player for fuckall.

    no world cup appearance also.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Killa U Asshat! I never said that was the reason he won THIS SEASONS'. I'm just trying to highlight that that is one more reason WHY he deserved it. At 35, he still played like a young world-class footballer all through THIS SEASON.
Start or no start to a match, he still lights the pitch on fire.

Killa...read and understand properly before you comment.

  38. This Giggs debate is just a bunch of people who don't appreciate great footballers if they from opposing clubs.

Giggs has been rock solid in every United game he played. Also this PFA award is from January to January. Keep in mind his contribution at the end of last season, thats the time frame of the award.

Perhaps many of you don't agree with Giggs winning the award, however those he plays against thinks he deserves it.

If i'm not mistaken this happened when Ronaldo won the World Footballer award. Everyone jumps out saying how he doesn't deserve it!

    Biggy
