OPEN THE FLOOR

Fast is a bit tough today I wont lie. Thought Id open the floor for today and tomorrow on which stadium has the best atmosphere.
I have personally been to Old Trafford and Elland Road in Leeds. Old trafford was awesome as I went there in Euro 96. When I STOOD at the tunnel barely a meter from the pitch I envisaged what it was like on a European Night.

I can only Imagine Anfield, The Bernabeu,Alianz Arena, Nou Camp,FNB between Chiefs & Pirates lol. The Maracana. There are so many great stadiums around the world with an atmosphere second to none. I will go to Turin one day.But I will go.

I open the floor to all the lads that have been to great stadiums around the World. Please share with the blog your experiences.I would like to hear whats it like around the world.Especially the atmosphere.

Though the wise men have spoken that ANFIELD IS SOMETHING ELSE.
One of my writers Ejaz sent me the following below

ANFIELD RATED BEST ATMOSPHERE Paul Hassall 27 September 2007
A survey of English football fans revealed what Reds supporters have known all along - Anfield has the best atmosphere in Europe.
The poll, conducted by property consultants Drivers Jonas Sport, ranked Liverpool's famous stadium ahead of the likes of Real Madrid's Bernabeu and Barcelona's Nou Camp, which was the highest-placed side from mainland Europe in fifth place. Celtic's Parkhead came second while Portsmouth's Fratton Park was a surprise third.

  4. Nice stadium, great atmosophere pity the team and supporters are so SH*T!

Rumour has it that after you scum played an FA Cup semi at the Theatre of Dreams it had to be sterilised and washed down with biochemicals. Away fans are still complaining about the PIG STINK!

  5. Hey Seth

I was at that Semi Final - Got some great pics - I had Chelsea tickets - Was sitting behind the goal - Paid a fortune for the Seats - Kept thinking whats the Point??? No one even sits down - No Smoking in the ground - Pommies are shit scared of the bobbies - Atmosphere was electric to say the least - Everytime Gerard got the ball, everyone would sing "youll never play for Chelsea"

And they call themselves passionate!!! the English are nothing but a bunch of drunk Hooligans. They call themsleves a cultured first world society. I think not. After the game, the different sets of fans were seperated by RIOT POLICE!!! I thought i was Iraq. Everyone says south africans are rough. I dont think the whole army needs to be on standby when Chiefs play Pirates...

    oh and by the way....

All you United muggs would cringe to know that after the game, the Theatre of Dreams erupted in a VERY VERY emotional "youll never walk alone" and yes..... it was being played over the PA system as well.

Can you guys imagine the WHOLE OF MANCHESTER ringing to the tune of "youll never walk alone"

  6. ABR, i see you're up bright and early too.

Naseem, why don't you publish the full article? How biased can you be, you only publish the bits about Anfield being best for atmosphere?

HOW ABOUT PUBLISHING THE FACT THAT THE SURVEY VOTED OLD TRAFFORD AS BEST OVERALL STADIUM? YES THE FOOD WAS VOTED BUT FOR BEST OVERALL STADIUM EXPERIENCE OLD TRAFFORD WAS VOYED NO.1!

The Della Alpi didn't even make the list, i think Block Park even came out ahead of it.

  7. Yip... the early bird catches the worm hey...

I dont think its possible to compare stadiums around the world. You just not comparing apples with apples. Each country does it differently... SA has the vuvuzella's... england has the drunks.... its a family event in spain.... the chinese knit their own scarfs during halftime... who knows how busy the bathrooms are in south american stadiums???

Each country enjoys their soccer in a differnt way, so you can compare stadiums within a country, cos that would be fair...

  8. Listen to ABR, COMPARING APPLES TO APPLES , but compared the sa cricket side to RONALDO !!!!!

he talks so passionately about LIVERPOOL , but says he doesnt support them.OH, & spends a fortune to watch them play.

we still waiting to find out who you support ABR ???

  9. Hey Mr MTN

We still waiting to find out which team you batting for?

Have you been to trafford yet?
Or are you one those very passionate fans thats too stingy to pay to soak up live atmosphere?

    ABR

  10. ABR ABR ABR !!!!!!!

what do you mean which team i'm batting for ?

does what you said about stinginess mean that a fan can only be passionate if his been to the stadium ?

i think you stooping very low ABR.
who are you to judge my financial situation or anyone elses ?

There are fans in this world that might be more passionate than a guy that has a season ticket, but might not ever be able to afford to go visit a club or team they love.

just beacause you've been to whichever stadiums or whichever games, dont make you a better supporter than the next.

"go" MAKE SHUKR FOR WHAT YOU HAVE

  11. A strong case can be made for La Bombonera, the home of Buenos Aires club Boca Juniors. When filled to capacity, the Chocolate Box, as it is known in English, heaves with excitement and is a cauldron of adrenaline.
And what about the Nou Camp in Barcelona, Glasgow's Ibrox Stadium, Real Madrid's Bernabéu, Stade Velodrome in Marseille, Benfica's Estadio da Luz, The Maracana in Rio, The San Siro in Milan.
I’ve being to the Nou Camp, San Siro, Old Trafford, and Highbury. But let me tell you guys Anfield is something else, its got to be one of the best places in the world to see a game. The fans are second to none and the atmosphere is electric!
To top off the experience, when the fans sing "You Never Walk Alone" the hairs on your back stand up. Its also the single place in the whole world where The Kop,the public of LFC could score a goal!

  12. I remember the Pakistan cricket team coming to Lenasia Stadium to play a Transvaal Invitational XI, that was the best atmosphere I have ever seen...even though it was cricket.

Truth was, me and my friends didnt pay a cent to get in...Sorry Mr. ABR, but does that make me any less of a fan of what I love because I didnt buy a ticket???

    O, and I shook Waqar's hand!!!

  22. Reading some of the last comments to this article proves today is gonna be a long one.

My best experience at a stadium unfortunately wasnt anfield (being a Pool supporter).
    The Country : Turkey
    The Date : 24/25 May 2005
    The Stadium : Attaturk
The Teams : Liverpool vs AC milan
    Round `1.

I've been for many a local game, Euro 2004 Portugal, but this was a game with a difference.

Because the game included an English Team it wasnt held at any of the turkish clubs homegrowns.
It was taken 30k's almost into the dessert to limit the hooligans.
From a day before the game Istanbul was literally painted red.
Whereever u went in the city you could hear the anthems of anfield in a scouser voice(They took alonger time to learn).

At the final whistle, sad to say the stadium echoed with 'you will never walk alone', I had tears in my eyes a cracked voice and the biggest, hairiest Pommie (with tatoos of Shankly and Paisley and every liverp00l trophy somewhere on his body)hugging me saying he doesnt know where he was gonna find place to put Rafa.

So in closing I suppose it was the best I have experienced and realised it not so much the stadium, but the fans.

    Never walking ALONE.

  24. THE MSA Tourneys were special..

Had its politics, owes werent allowed to blast music. At one stage they wanted owes to play in knee length shorts and intorduce horse riding.

But the footie had its special moments.

Ironically I won it when I was out of campus. We beat Azaadville on penalties I think..

I wanted to return this year as a veteran like Del at the world cup ha ha.

I will never forget my Debut at the hallowed grounds of Banato.
I was but a freshamn first year. My squad included the likes of the Guvee ,Waseem Khan. In fact me and Waseem Khan were striking partners.

We lost the game 3-1 against some third years.

The upsets were also rife. Owes from soccer teams used to get eliminated by no nmaers

We fell victim once to the Medics led by mad Kaka. We had our Sunday kits and fancy boots, alice bands.
They were like owes in badr. poorly equipped soldiers just with yellow bibs.(if u know what I mean)

They beat us and we were eliminated

  32. I have been to Elland Road as I said. watched Spain vs Romania in Euro 96. Compact and lots of our Indian owes are members and season ticket holders as its in Yorkshire.

Spanish & Romanian fans everywhere. And Spanish badaams are much more chunkier than our local badaams.

    Mad Atmosphere,
MY POINT..my seat was there. there was organization .we enetered and we left like we walked into a busy ackhalwayas, took our chow and left.

    I remember FNB.WHAT a atmosphere..
but there was an extra 10 000 people that made their way in. If we didnt get there early we would have sat with our rozas on the stairs next to the guy screaming AAAAI CELLULAR

Boca Vs River is the ultimate football experience, first world countries and stadiums have rules and laws but at those games they allow those red flares and people are cramped like sardines and hanging onto rails and shit, never been there but just seeing the fans on tv is enough to make you believe you'll never see more passion in your life
