OPEN THE FLOOR

Is Money a deciding factor when it comes to big transfer?

This is in light of Real Madrid chasing Christiano Ronaldo. Now its obvious after discussion and alot of Banter that the lity is currently the best in the World and he is highly sought after.

Let me go back years. I was working in Midrand as a junior web developer. And fortunately I had internet access. The transfer rumours were rife that Zidane is going for a record fee to Madrid. I said nah never. Everyday for two weeks I was on Juve blogs, forums , sites. The Agnelli Family insisted that we will never sell Zidane. Juve Players and fans rallied against the sale of the greatest player. I sat back, relaxed....Then out of the blue it was breaking news that Zidane signed for Madrid for a then record fee of 40 odd million I think.

I was shocked, I mean the Juve board assured the fans that he will never leave. From then on the same was said about Owen, Beckham, Figo and a few other loyal players whom everybody expected to stay and end their careers at their clubs. I was convinced then that its bucks over loyalty

So I ask the readers, What has it boiled down today. Is It Salary, is it the Money, Has Loyalty gone. Look obviously if you are employed and you get a lucrative offer youd be a fool to turn it down. I mean every player wants the best for himself and his family......

So will Christiano go to Madrid, Will Sir AF sell him if the price is huge and right. At the end of the day Money talks and Bullshit walks.................

  1. Spanish reports claim Real Madrid have decided to offer Manchester United a world-record £100million for Cristiano Ronaldo.

It is believed Real told United last summer they would pay up to 120million euros for the Portuguese star.

The Red Devils made it quite clear they had no plans to sell Ronaldo - but the wonderful form of player, which has seen him score nearly 40 goals this season, will prompt a new bid.

Real have made little secret of their desire to lure Ronaldo to the Spanish capital and now La Sexta is claiming that an incredible £100million bid is imminent.

La Sexta - who have the rights to La Liga television coverage in Spain, are said to have close ties with high-ranking Real officials, from where the news on the possible bid have emanated.

However, it is also being reported that despite the huge bid, Real are not expecting United to accept the deal.

The current world record for a footballer is already held by Real, after they £46million to Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.

Recent speculation intensified after it was reported in Spain that Real's sporting director Predrag Mijatovic met with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes in London and Rome in recent weeks.

  5. Money always does the talking, doesn't matter whether its ball or not.
Unfortunately alot of youngsters move for that reason and not in fact to better themselves. You need to move to a team which help build you and not drop you for under-performing. Madrid has too many star players and are not scared of dropping them for not performing.
But then again hey its the money ;)

The Glazers would not be able to turn that offer down.

  8. F**K selling him!

He has been tremendous for us this season and will only go on to greater things with us! I'm a fan and want football success so i don't give a sh*t if we're the richest or tenth richest club in the world. As long as we're not bankrupt and able to compete for players i'm happy!

Funny thing though, Real bidding $100m but they took out a 30m euro loan to cover their day to day operations since the sale of Beck's. The kid is vastly superior to Golden Ball's from a footballing prespective but he's marketability pales in comparison!

  9. united would be dom to sell this lightie..we all know what an impact he has on the team..it might be wrong to brandish them a 1 man team but this oke has been integral to the success they had last season and the success that they might have this season..don't think they would be challenging for the title without him..winning the league gets you something stupid like 50 mill+..take that into consideration + the earnings from the CL, they'd be dumb to sell..fergie is a sharp bastard..he'll never sell..united don't need the money.
hope that they do sell the wanker though
