HOW IMPORTANT IS DIRK KUYT TO LIVERPOOL

OK, A serious question here. The readers will remember last season what a pasting Dirk Kuyt got by man lads from the kop, including myself and Ejaz. The man was shite. Then in Europe he was a different man, popping up to score all the important goals when it was least expected of him. And we have him to thank for getting us to the semi finals. But domestically Kuyt was shocking and many of the lads called for his head. Kuyt was deemed as merely a hard worker. Running tirelessly up and down the flanks.

Benitez bought Kuyt as a striker, and thats where he plays for Holland. EURO 2008 WAS A SUPERB TOURNAMENT for the Dutchman. He may not possess the skill of Van Basten and Bergkamp but he was the Dutch teams star performer.

Kuyt works hard, lets be honest and it could very well be that hard work and energy that will enable us to grind out results against the minnow clubs......where we clearly lacked last season. Against Man City it was Kuyt who popped up to score the Winner....3 points......3 vital points.

Rooney though recieves the same criticism as Kuyt. But again Rooney is a hard worker. A friend of mines in England who saw both Kuyt and Rooney live says "Its amazing what work rate you see Kuyt and Rooney offer to a team. Half the time the TV doesnt do justice to what roles they play. The off the ball running and the way they create space...its unbelievable. You dont see that on TV.

So I ask the lads from the KOP....How important is Dirk Kuyt to Liverpools quest for Silverware? and if the MANCS are felling left out on this post...Is KUYT BETTER THAN WAYNE ROONEY PART 1?

Now Im not talking shit here. Its a fair comparison. Lets see what they have in common. They both play Internationally . Here Id say Kuyt 1 Rooney o. What has Wayne done for England.
They both are strikers but are tried in different positions. Honours even here as Kuyt effective on the flanks whilst Rooney is effective behind the striker and coming from the deep. Honours even again coz when they are shite they are shite. Kuyt is guilty of missing some sitters. In Europe well...Kuyt was amazing...and well Rooney won the Cup...with the MANCS. Rooney 1 Kuyt 0 when it comes to the beauty of the goals scored. Rooney has scored some belters. So how important are these two players Who are hard workers and play with their hearts on a sleeve to their respective clubs.

On the contrary some may simply say KUYT is not World Class, But then again is Rooney World Class...Some might even say KUYT is plain focking sheet.

Whilst we on the topic I might as well ask the Kop Lads......Is Kuyt utilised correctly by Rafa. What if Kuyt and Torres start up front as Kuyt does with the Dutch and Babbel and Rierra start on the flanks...or is Kuyt good where he is...as a makeshift winger?

  1. Is it pronounced KITE. KOYTE OR KOUTE.

F#ken Livertwats were punishing the bastard. Now they say he pops up and scores important goals.

  2. Kuyts is f#4king shite. Swoosh always rants and raves about Rooney being World Class and then he starts throwing names like Villa and Messi around.

How can Kuyt even fit in with those names.

  3. They both shit

But with recent blasting from both fans it seems they have upped their games or, as some might suggest just been plain lucky.

Personally I think Kuyt seems to have shown improvement. As for Rooney,I am going with Seths current views on him ie. that he messes up a challenge and then pretends to work hard in order to get the ball back.(or something of the sort)

Rooney is a great passer of the ball but suffers from stage fright when it comes to one on ones with the keeper.Rooney is the most overrated player at present but just as I hammer him he scores so I guess we will have to wait for the end of the season to conclude

  4. Kuyt is a revelation in Europe and for his country!

  5. Mini...You are spot on. The hammering has made them better players.

Rooney though is aggressive and like every striker is recovering from his loss of form.

Two guys though on present form are gelling well with their clubs.

  6. stop talking shit swoosh. the guy is a right wingers ass!. never seen one decent cross from him. the problem is with rafa and van basten. they tried to convert him from a striker to a winger. yeh he gets the odd crucial goal, but if you on the wing your job is to get crosses in for the likes of torres and keane, which he aint doing!

currie cup final at ofs stadium. cheetahs to beat bulls by 5 and lions to win by 8. ur thoughts?

  8. Thats why I dont understand Rafa. Even last year. We had Crouchie up front, but no service. It showed.

Our front two had no service. Look at the other teams that have quality wingers.

Arsenal before, Overmars, Pires, Reyes, Chelsea ,Joe Cole, The Mancs got Penaltino and Giggs and even a guys like Ashley Cole and Evra give you that added dimension.

Its pure and simple.Liverpool lack width and Torres has a makeshift supply line

  10. Baywatch,

I reckon you spot on with the teams but the points difference might differ. Lions to scrape it against the Sharks by a couple of points whilst the Cheetah's to win by 5.

Earl Rose to come up big and do a Habana!

    We are Red

  11. The Media messed up Rooney.
How the hell did they call him the next Gazza???

I dont think its fair to call either Rooney or Kuyt "strikers"
They are both "hard working players that are supposed to play in the opposition half"
Maybe thats the way the modern game is supposed to be played???

    Rooney = Kuyt

  38. Rafa Benitez believes the 'ugly' work done by Dirk Kuyt is just as important to Liverpool as the goals of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.
Kuyt hit his first league strike since November against Man City last week, but the gaffer doesn't measure his Dutch forward's contribution in goals.

"His teamwork is amazing," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv. "When you talk about a team, that's the most important thing.

"Players like Kuyt are key. You can use the quality of people like Fernando Torres or Steven Gerrard, but you always need players working really hard.

"If you have players with offensive mentality, you need players who can do the ugly jobs. You need to work hard in defence. As a striker, Kuyt is doing his defensive work very well and also scoring important goals."

While Kuyt has struggled to find the net in the Premier League, his Champions League record is an impressive 10 in 27 games.

Benitez added: "He was scoring goals in the Champions League and now he's scored in the league. I think it was important for him and in the end it was important for us too.

"Everyone, especially all his teammates, will be really pleased for him because it is amazing how he works every day, every training session and every game."
