QUALIFYING


For every FIFA World Cup Every one of the 32 Nations that participating has to qualify with the exception of the hosts. Therefore the only nation that has qualified currently is South Africa. Qualifying for the 2010 World Cup is broken down into the 6 Confederations.

Top 3 automatically qualify for FIFA 2010 World Cup and 4th Place play South America 5th place in a playoff for qualification.

2 Groups of 5 where the 2 Winners and 2 Runners Up of each group qualify for the World Cup. The 2 third placed nations play each other in a home & away playoff with the winner playing a further playoff with the winner of the Oceania (New Zealand) to qualify for the World Cup.

EUROPE (53 Nations, 13 Positions)
There are 53 participants in this confederation vying for 13 FIFA World Cup Positions. The teams are separated into 9 Groups (8 Groups of 6 and 1 Group of 5) where each of the Group Winners Automatically qualify for the World Cup. The Best 8 out of the 9 Runner Ups will have a home and away knockout playoff for the remaining 4 positions.

5 Groups of 4 in a double qualification for both World Cup 2010 and Nations Cup 2010 to be held in Angola. With both Angola and South Africa not qualifying for this Final Phase, the qualification is straight forward. Each group winner qualifies for the 2010 World Cup and the top 3 of each group qualify for the CAF Nations cup.
