STORM BEFORE THE CALM

It was a nice weekend. The Storm before the calm of Ramadaan Firstly I would like to wish all our Muslim readers RAMADAAN MUBARAK. Have a blessed month of fasting and for this month let us not swear on the blog lol.

We kopped the weekend at the SANLAM FASHION WEEK ON SATURDAY. On Saturday evening we went to Yusufi Bhamgees Spur in Rosebank. Everywhere was packed, all the slum owes trying to get that Big Meal. I was no different. I belted a 500 gram lazy age Steak, Thick ,medium to well done with pepper Sauce, and two John Lee Specials. Me and the lads were ready after that. Sunday soaked it up and watched some sport, the ball, the cricket etc

EUROPEAN SUPER CUP
ZEENAT FROM PIETERSBURG 2 MAN UTD 1

Wel touch more on the hand of god in Super Tuesday. But you know whats funny. I spoke to a MANC Fan and he said that the SUPER Cup is not important. I love it when they lose a cup and they abolish the importance of the Cup. How can the Super Cup not be important. Its Silverware that prestigious European clubs always include in their accolades. More though on this club that the readers refer to a Zeenat From Pietrsburg. they slaying Giants. Bayern felt the wrath, Now the Mancs. I just hope Juve and Real are not victims.

A good thing though for the weekend was that the MANCS lost, bottom line. They also lost Silverware. As for Paul Scholes. What was he trying. The hand of good was only ever done by the great Diego Maradona. It was cruel...but he got away with it. I dont think any other player will actually emulate the hand of GOD. Also it was clear that the MANCS ARE in need of anotehr striker. Rumours are rife that Berbatov is on the way

ALWAYS A GUNNER
Firstly M Areff phoned me while I was at Spur. He said "Swoosh are you watching this breathtaking exhibition of football...The fans at the Emirates are actually crying. i said Hold on,let me fone Mamad Bhamgee. His words were "Township football is being played by the Gunners. I heard Arsenal were fantastic and played unbelievable and attractive soccer. And the litys are now back in the swing of things.

FROM THE KOP END
A drab draw. I watched the latter part of the game and we were robbed of a penalty,Rio Coco clearly impeded Robbie Keane. The Jihad Abus vs Alis is next week and we go in against the MANCS with no Torres and Gerard. Again compared to the rest of the Big guns in the premiership we were nothing close to spectacular. The only thing appealing was the grey kit. Next week is Big

CHELSKI
A surprise draw or the Blues against a Spurs team that has been struggling. It seems that everybody was struggling this weekend. And the mancs disnt play so the Big Boys should have edged in front

Elsewhere in the premiership Spurs get Pavlachenko, SWP returns with a brace and Highes is doing big things. The Guvee's blackburn crash at West Ham. Sunderland lose at home, Everton are not the same as last year....

But too early to get critical..Let the a few months role by....and Wel see what transpires

LA LIGA ROUND UP
Barcelona and Madrid both open their league campaigns with losses. Its always difficult at the Riazor. Very surprising results

SERIE A ROUND UP
In Serie A, I was upset yesterday when Gilardinho stole in the 89th minute to put Fiorentina level. 1-1 it finished in Florence. I was impressed with a Juve team that I felt could have went about three goals up earlier on. But the rest of the big Gunns all drew and Milan with RoNALDINHO lost to newly promoted Bolognia. Also Inter have just signed Quaresma, the Muggs

In the Bundesliga , Bayern Steamrlled Hertha Berlin and Klinsman says they are now steamrolling. Killa what are your thoughts on Massimo Oddo signing for Bayern

At the end though the season has begun and its going to be a cracker

TRI NATIONS
SA VS AUSTRAILIA

De Villiers wins the Tri-Nations match against Austrailia, Azee smsd me and asked me. So whos the Mugg now. What difference does it make , SA didnt win the tri-nations , This is only Pieters second victory if im correct. What are your viewpoints?

THE GROUP STAGES DRAW

The draw was held yesterday and there are some tough groups. I go face to face withe Riyad Loonat and I have to watch the game with him. Heres my analysis of the groups

Group A
Chelsea
Roma
Bordeaux
Cluj

Roma find themselves up against English opposition again. But with out a doubt I expect Chelsea and Roma to advance

Group B
Inter
W. Bremen
Pananthiakos
Shakhtar

In group B, the b@3tards Inter along with Bremen should advance.Easy group again

Group C
Barcelona
Sporting
Basel
Anorthosis

Here again, Barcelona and Sporting. How can they not advnace

Group D
Liverpool
PSV
Marseille
At. Madrid

Now here is where it starts getting tough. Its a tougher group compared to the first three but You have to bring on all the boys whether its earlier or later. PSV are no pushovers, Marseille well they hurt us last year and Atletico Madirid will take Torres back home. My tip. With hard work and no sleeping Liverpool and Atletico Madrid

Group E
Manchester Utd
Villareal
Celtic
Aalborg BK

Always the F#4ken MANCS get an easy passage through. F34ken you cant count Celtic. F#4ken MANCS and Villareal got no excuse for not qualifying

Group F
Lyon
Bayern Munich
Stea Bucharest
Fiorentina

Now this is a bit of a stinker. This is my group of death. Killa your Bayern Munchen team ,should advance with Fiorentina but One of the two can fall . This one will be interesting

Group G
Arsenal
Dynamo Kiev
Porto
Fenebache

Arsenal will have to make the cold trip to Kiev but I should se the litys and Porto qualify. But with Arsenal not at all up to European Pedigree,,,,You never know

Group H
Real madrid
Juventus
Zenith
Bate

Up against our old nemises Real Madrid and a Zenith side that were rampant in the UEFA Cup. Many are terming this group as the group of death.
But We have the European pedigree. I should see Juve and Real Madrid Qualify

BOOKING THE WEDDING HALL-LIVERPOOL VS STANDARD LIEGE

No Dstv at my grans place so as usual I had soocernet.com open and the blokes were smsing me. But for long no sms. The flu has come back to haunt me so I took a brief nap....looked at the PC again and I seen 118 minuted. All the time though the sms;s have read ,liverpool doing nothing.

Next thing the page refreshes and I see Kuyt 118. Rash Cassim phoned me immediately and said Book the Wedding Hall. This year is the year. "When you play so sh#4 and you pull results. Arwanooh..Its coming. This is the year.

Rash was quick to admit that Liverpool were woeful and a far cry from what they capable of playing. Ebie Kop end and Kop out were also liasing with me. Go "Your Man" Kop out was stressed.

A Champions League exit would have been a tragedy. The flu prevented me from watching the game elsewhere and on the INTERNET you just see the scores, so Il await the reaction from the readers.

More importantly is that we are through to the group stages. But some Questions
Were Standard Liege a good team and would the other premiership outfits battled against them,
And do we have the squad to go all the way this year, bearing in mind we only signed Robbie Keane and a few others, Keane whom Rash Cassim states is suffering from Paul Stewart and the Spurs crossing over to Liverpool Syndrome.,,whilst other European outfits have made strong signings

I skyped live with Cisse and his words were after the game

"Absolutely shocking... from a performance point of view not wonderful... but hey what can i say... we through to group stages and thats what counts"

So onto the group stages and all the BIG Guns have qualified, except Galatasary.........so only one Turkish team in the draw, But its gonna be a heavy shooting draw

80 ODD IS A SIN

Ebie Kop End,an ardent cricket fan on the blog kept updating me on the game yesterday. What the hell happened............

Any comments

MATCHDAY 2

BEST OF THE BEST FANTASY LEAGUE

Matchday 2, was somewhat of a disappointment for me. Whatever i banked for went against me. I managed to pull a respectable 39 and still find myself second amongst the elite. But still early days and the excitement is Sublime

Just a reminder, Payment Cut-off is end of this month. 5 Alipors in the Top 5...lol.....

DREAM COMES TRUE IN BRATISLAVA

"Everything was an illusion with Calciopoli. In spite of difficulties We we will come back .Why?

Becuase we are a part of a Wonderful History. We have unforgettabe Legends.
Roberto Bettega, Giampierio Boniperte, Omar Siviori, Michelle Platini
Great Fans...........and nowadays heroes

Roberto Baggio, Zindedine Zidane, Pavel Nedved, Gianluigi Buffon and Alessandro Del Piero

The second half of this video is awe inspiring and Riviting If you are A Juve Fan. It gives me chills and pumps me up

We Will stand United.
Forza Juve .
Always a Bianconero

I remember the pain of Calciopoli. The hurt is over now. Juventus are back in the group stages of the Champions League. A 1-1 draw was enough in Bratislava thanks to Amauri. Even though Juve were 4-0 up in aggregate, there was still no time to be complacent. Now we back with the Big Boys. Lets just hope the draw is kind enough. But in Europe you need to bring on the big boys sooner or later. Also mighty Sapnish Giants Barcelona are through as well.

But for now, the feeling is sublime.
Forza Juve
We back in the Champions League

SUPER TUESDAYS ON SWOOSH0018.COM

Real Ronaldo Set For Man City Move?
Brazilian legend Ronaldo could be on the verge of a move to Manchester City, with the Daily Telegraph claiming that the former Milan man has held talks with the Premiership club over a possible transfer.

The 31-year-old free agent is currently recovering from injury after he severed a tendon in his knee playing for Milan against Livorno in February. After a successful operation in Paris, it was revealed that he would be out of action for at least nine months. Ronaldo’s rehabilitation is said to be going well, and well ahead of schedule, but after his contract at Milan expired at the end of June, the Italian club refused to offer him a new deal. Now a free agent, Ronaldo has been linked to a number of clubs, including Flamengo, but the Daily Telegraph claims that El Fenomeno could be set for a sensational move to Man City. The Blues are looking for a big international name, for commercial reasons, and there are few bigger in the game than Ronaldo, who is a three time FIFA World Player of the Year, and the top scorer in the history of the World Cup.The Telegraph claims that Ronaldo has held informal talks over a possible move before the end of this week, but first the Brazilian must prove his fitness, as there are concerns over his weight.City's executive chairman Garry Cook appeared to admit an imminent move for Ronaldo when he told the Telegraph: “I've got to change the culture here. Today you can grow quicker than it took Manchester United. We just need a superstar.“China and India are gagging for football content to watch and we're going to tell them that City is their great content.“We are a global franchise entity. We told [manager] Mark Hughes not to come here if he thought we didn't need a superstar.”Man City failed earlier this summer in their bid for one superstar – Ronaldinho. Now they could succeed in a move for his compatriot and former namesake Ronaldo

THEATER OF DREAMS
THERES ONLY ONE DARREN FLETCHER
2 goals in 2 games from Darren Fletcher. I mean come on now. Even though the MANCS kept bombarding me with messages last night saying that "THERES ONLY 1 DARREN FLETCHER". I still say that he is a f#4king shit player. He is someone in the mould of Luke Chadwick. But yet this figure of Darren Fletcher keeps popping up at and scoring the most important of goals.

I want to ask the MANCS.......to please rate Darren Fletcher and his importance to the team

With regards to the game yesterday I thought Pompey will produce something spectecular as tehy have done so in teh past and they were playing at home. But Calamity and the Portsmouth MUGGS couldnt do f#4kall

UBG has got back from Beijing and as one comment stated lol He was really upset that David Beckham took his place in the end.Anyways UBG has been after this guy for long. More so Because UBG was running for the Bok Post when White was gone. UBG says that without a doubt De Villiers is this weeks MUGG of the Week. UBG cites his choice for two reasons. 1. De Villiers has brought terrible results. The 19-0 mauling of the blacks in Cape Town, the defeat to the Ozzies. SA are playing s@#e rugby. Secondly UBG who is not a solid speaker of the English Language insists that De Villiers must never ever give a press conference again. Does anyone agree with UBG , since they had a fat lot to say when UBG made Rooney the MUGG OF THE WEEK.
SUPER TUESDAY WAG
Adreana Karembeu , the wife of former Middlesbrough and French national player Christian Karembeu
Other quick snippets are that Berbatov is set to be poised to join the MANCS before August, Senderos is gone to Milan. It has been said that even Wengers maid and domestic worker wants to swop dusting furniture in London to Milan. Wengers Ferarri was damaged, they had to send it to Milan to get fixed. Maybe he must replace Ancelotti, take Fabregas and Toure and Milan will be Arsenal...............
Also Penaltino has made a public statement that he deserves the World Player of the Year Trophy as no one came close to him, the whole of last season
Comments made by NBC sports commentators so far during the Olympics that they would like to take back:
1. Weight-lifting commentator: This is Gregorieva from Bulgaria. I saw he snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing.
2. Dressage commentator: This is really a lovely horse and I speak from personal experience since I once mounted her mother.
3. Paul Hamm, Gymnast: I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother an father.
4. Boxing Analyst: Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in boxing, but none of them really that serious.
5. Softball announcer: If history repeats itself, I should think we can expect the same thing again.
6. Basketball analyst: He dribbles a lot and the opposition doesn't like it. In fact you can see it all over their faces.
7. At the rowing medal ceremony: Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the IOC president is hugging the Cox of the British crew.
8. Soccer commentator: Julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got eleven Dicks on the field.
9. Tennis commentator: One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them...Oh my God, what have I just said?

EUROPEAN GRAND PRIX

After a three week summer break, F1 is back. This weekend's race is at the much-anticipated Valencia street circuit. This is no simple conversion of regular city streets, it's a sophisticated harbour-side circuit designed by Hermann Tilke. The track is exceptionally wide, features 25 turns and top speeds will reach over the 300km/h mark. It's definitely an exciting addition to the F1 calendar.
The race for the driver's championship has become unpredictable with the top 3 consistently winning some races and failing to score in others. Reliability could turn out to be the single biggest deciding factor in the championship outcome. And Ferrari are no longer secure at the top of the constructor's championship. McLaren's recent run of good form has seen them close the gap significantly. The teams are all going to have to be at their sharpest as Valencia will undoubtedly spring a few surprises in its debut weekend.

3 POINTS IS 3 POINTS

It was a weekend with Gigi Buffon and the chaps and some Sublime Badaams. mmm What Badaams. But anyway dont want to give away too much there.

I can tell you one thing though was that all the Kop owes were smiling. The Ali's slated and lambasted it as luck. But f#4k it, its a dose of their own medicine

FROM THE KOP END
Even though the MANCS pasted us in saying we were lucky as I always say on the blog, three points is three points. And an amazing wonder strike by Captain Stevie G secured the three points when all was down. I must admit that after Liverpool went 1-0 down, I thought f#4k there goes the start to yet another year. Robbie Keane the architect of the goal superbly chested it down for Captain Gerard to score. BUT three points is 3 points. Interesting enough, Ebi Kop end made some sense. If the Mancs lose to Pompey, they have no game because of the Super Cup, they could find themselves bout 9 points behind. Thats good mentally. But then again the MANCS always start of shite and fly towards the end. But for Liverpool its a big one this week and We must qualify for Europe.Anything less than that is a disaster

ALWAYS A GUNNER

Im not even going to say anything here. A tame Arsenal performance. Poor litys ......And to top it all off...against

CHEL$KI

Again, a convincing performance I thought from Chelsea. Deco was once again superb. And 3 points is three points. Chelsea look strong, no weaknesses and perhaps they boast the strongest midfield in the premiership. The Bison, Michael Essien was back ..........I think Loks, This time you okes mean business

DE VILLIERS, OH DE VILLIERS, BYE BYE TRI NATIONS
“I believe in what we are doing. We are trying to change the way we play but Rome was not built in a day,” said De Villiers.
“We are making progress, but I think some players are a bit flat because they play too much rugby in the Super 14. The public must give us time. Given the speed and power of our players, if we execute our new game play correctly, we will be awesome. We will be the envy of the world.” -PDV

I Spoke to Seth and Azee. Seth said that the entire playing field of Springboks should be lambasted. Bottom Line. Must De Villiers stay or go. Simple Question

ODI IN ENGLAND. VERNON OUT OF DEPTH

I spoke to an irate Ebie Kop End on Friday. SA F#4KED it up. And they were cruising.perhaps the Kallis run out was pivotal. But what is Vernon Philander doing in the SA team. I mean the last time also, he does nothing. Im always a firm believer that its merrit you need to be picked on. And Philander is quite out of his depth.

MUGG OF THE WEEK

UBG will now choose his weekly MUGG of the Week, and we will discuss it further. Now this is UBG'S choice. He has been there, He watches the games, He can only judge.
This weeks MUGG by UBG is Wayne Rooney. I asked UBG WHY?
He said "Svooosh, da Man Utd owes alvays say he World Class. " Vat Vorld Class, Juste Fontaine vas vorld class in my day"

So the Mancs are always raving how great Rooney is. But he is not World Class. I have to agree with UBG. Also UBG states that Rooney has done nothing lately. Sports Pundits are also saying that Rooney looks bothered and out of sorts.

Again Mancs We are not saying that he is sh#e. He is just the Mugg of the week, in relation to his and his teams performance.
Then again, Punisher you mite hate me for this but Now can we pose teh question is Crouch better than Rooney.
Look whatever Rooney deserves to be the Mugg. Although Azee UBG has been researching Pieter De Villiers thsi week so dont be surprised De Villiers is the next MUGG
FRIENDLY NEWS
Regarding England, they were lucky to escape from defeat last night as Joe Cole scrambled in a late equaliser again. Once Again England turned out an unconvincing performance. Again. As the debates and comments are raging on in this post. What seems to be the problem. Why are England Struggling
ITALY VS AUSTRIA
I coudlnt fathom when Italy went 2-0 down against Austria. And the Italians fielded a pretty strong team. Del Piero was bad according to Goal.com stats and so was Barzagli. Gatusso and pirlo were all flat. De Rossi was the only outstanding Italian Player all night. At least Lippi didnt open with a defeat. Liverpools Dossena was cited as one for the future and was good in attack ,with good runs and crosses.
Anyways Forza Azurri
Wel see them in 2010.
Spain had a great 3-0 victory. Encouraging for Liverpool Fans again was the performance of Xabi Alonso. He scored twice and thats great news for Liverpool. You must know if Rash Cassim who is not a fan of Alonso says that he is in good form.
The other major nations also enjoyed good results on the Night
In transfer news ,Silvestre has signed for Arsenal. Thats a surprise. is poke to Cisse and we said Is Wenger losing the plot.Maybe its a good thing. I dunno. MANCS and Arsenal Fans, please comment

MIDWEEK SOCCER ROUND UP

For a change SA vs Austrailia was a result to savour. 2-2.Tico Modise scored a cracker. But with less than two years to go for the World Cup, Does this team have what it takes to go beyond the group stages. It was the Ozzies minus Guus................

A piece of magic from playmaker Teko Modise in the 58th minute earned Bafana Bafana a hard-fought 2-2 draw in a friendly international played at the Loftus Road Stadium, London, on Tuesday night.
Modise's goal was the highlight the match, but new Bafana coach Joel Santana left with more questions than answers.
The Socceroos had the better of the first 45 minutes. They were well organised and quicker to the ball.
Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune looked shaky from the start and never settled down in the first 45 minutes, coming off his line too early and must take some of the blame for both goals scored in a lively opening half.
It was no surprise that the out of touch Santana played his tried and tested despite saying he would bring in new blood.
Skipper and central defender Aaron Mokoena played at centre half despite the fact this match is being used to prepare for next month's crucial African Nations Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Port Elizabeth.
Mokoena is suspended for that match and should have been rested.
This was Santana¢s chance to have a look at the likes of Bevan Fransman alongside Nasief Morris as the centre back pairing.
Once again Santana showed his lack of imagination by using his stock two defensive midfielders in Macbeth Sibaya and Kagisho Dikgacoi when a more adventurous system will be needed against Nigeria.
Santana promised to also use this game to have a look at new blood and he bottled it when the score was 2-2.
He did bring on Moroka Swallows' Lefa Tsutsulupa for his first cap when he replaced McCarthy in the 73rd minute. It was just reward for the 28-year-old Birds midfielder's efforts in helping a SA Development side retain the Cosafa Cup against Mozambique on home soil recently.
If Santana plays this formation against Nigeria, Bafana will struggle to get the three points they desperately need to keep their slender hopes of qualifying for the 2010 Afcon tournament in Angola alive.
Australia did most of the attacking early in the half. Bradley Carnell of German side Karlsruhe made a welcome return at left back, adding experience and well timed tackles.
He also managed to clear Mark Bresciano's shot out of danger in the 18th minute.
But three minutes later a clever back heel by Benni McCarthy set up Siyabonga Nkosi and the Arminia Bielefeld midfielder showed a lot of composure by slotting home the opening goal past Australian goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.
However, the lead lasted only until the 25th minute when Derby County's Mile Sterjovski beat the on rushing Khune and cleverly chipped the ball over the advancing Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper and into the net.
Khune did well to shot a well hit shot from Scott McDonald in the 31st minute but he completely missed a 33rd-minute cross from Lucas Neil that was luckily also missed by the Socceroos' Josh Kennedy, a teammate of Carnell at Karlsruhe.
But Kennedy managed to outjump Khune and headed home Bresciano's free kick in the 38th minute to put the Socceroos 2-1 ahead.
Bafana tried hard to get back into the game and Schwarzer did well to block a dangerous cross form Bryce Moon in the 51st minute.
Sibaya was fractionally wide with a long-range shot after 55 minutes as Bafana tried to get back into the game.
Then came a piece of Modise brilliance in the 58th minute. McCarthy started the move with another clever back heel to Moon, who set up the Orlando Pirates playmaker who let rip with an unstoppable shot giving Schwarzer, who plays in the English Premiership for Fulham, no chance and levelling the game at 2-2.
Both Carnell and Morris were wide awake and focused and both managed to clear dangerous balls when Khune went walk about inside his area as the tiring Socceroos looked for the winner.
But Bafana held their shape and held on for a deserved draw.
However, they will find the Super Eagles of Nigeria a lot tougher proposition in Port Elizabeth on September 6 when there are points at stake in the penultimate Group Four Afcon qualifier.

A host of International friendlies follow tonight and Azee what you think of Capello making Jhon Terry his Captain. Wise move I think, Terry is one man that wears his heart on a sleeve.
For the Azurri, Lippi takes charge and will want to open with a win. Del Piero amongst those from 2006 that has been called up to the Azurri Squad

THE DOCTORS MEDICINE-ONE DAY SERIES ENGLAND

Just spoke to the Doc and well we got the Docs medicine of whats happening out there as South Africa prepare for the One Day Series. Moose has been in South Africa for the past week and just merged with the squad yesterday.

The one day squad has been assembling and Moose said that the welcoming of new players is like a breath of Fresh Air and good competition to the squad. Moose also said that its been a long tour and the guys want to wrap up the one day series on a positive note and head back home. Its been a long tour, two months almost

Moose also said that the weather over the past two weeks has been dreadful and tomorows Pro 20 is definately cancelled, The pitch is waterlogged and it has been raining.

The guys have been training indoors and Moose said they got some catching and fielding practise done today preparing themselves for the first one day on Friday

On Hash Moose said that the mans confidence is high and even though he is back-up for Smith, Hash has been on superb form and will relish the opportunity with open arms.Moose said he really pleased for Hashim particularly because this is where his career really started for SA, against England two years ago

At that time many people questioned Hash and his ability. But he has returned on their playground and in Mooses words , He has returned as a new man, and brand new batsman that has set the Test series alight. That will definately boost his confidence

Behind the scenes though the Doc said that they have been travelling from venue to venue. There has been really a quiet period in terms of press conferences etc.
On the locals , Moose said that most of the Asian concentration in the UK are based in London, Leeds, Birmingham.ALot of them have shown great hospitality and invited the lads over etc.

The doc mentioned that he had a very interesting experience this morning. Himself, Mickey Arthur and a few others visited Middlesbrough Football Club in Tyne side.

Moose met Gareth Southgate, the Borough Manager and the Middlesbrough Fitness coach. Moose said that he spent some time exchanging ideas and fitness strategies.Even though he plays football at home it was a great experience from a fitness point of view to integrate these strategies with Cricket. Definately an experience to cherish

The Doc and the lads plan to watch some soccer in London on the weekend of the 30th, possibly Chelsea or Arsenal and maybe a game in Nottingham.

The line was bad, So wel hear from the Doc again. He sends Salaams to all

GAMEWEEK 1

It was really exciting when the fantasy league got underway on Saturday. I wont lie but a few of the lads have waited for it. Theres some Big Guns in the draw. Big things expected from guys like Riyad Loonat, defending Champion Pops, and some other big Guns.
For me I started of on a belter. Deco and Agbanlahor bagging massive points for me...But I dont want to talk now coz its early days, early days.

But look at the MANCS langusihing at the bottom...Great thing

SUPER TUESDAYS ON SWOOSH0018

The season has begun. SA has won its first medal at the Olympics with long jumper Mokoena.

Uncle Bai Gora has been named to blow out the Olympic flame. Now for UBG the following lucrative position is available , but does our man want it. That position being the No2. for a Big Club.

Now lets access this position. Is it just a guy always standing next to the Big Boss. What does this No 2 man do. Does he motivate the players, Does he train the players. Is he the important link between the players and the coach. Is he the man that calms thing down, the bond or the glue between decisions, strategies and relationships.

Lets go back and access some great No.2s, I know Uncle Bai Goras no 2 was always a man called Mr Kaka. He always went into battle with UBG.

I must admit that UBG has turned down the role of being Sir Alex Fergusons no 2 without even applying for the job. His reasons actually made sense. UBG went as far as saying that every no2 man for Man Utd went on to er should I say smaller things.

Lets go as far as Brian Kidd. The man was class as Fergies no 2. Everybody said Kidd is destined for big things, the man took over at Blackburn and failed miserably. Then there was Qarlos Queiroz, class..........our okes didnt realise they had gold and booted Queiroz.

If we still had Queiroz, We wouldnt have had Santana and the whole Perreira episode. But then again Queiroz was booted at Real Madrid.

Then we have perhaps what was the biggest flop. Steve Mclaren. The man in all honesty was highly successful as Fergies Deputy. He went on to Bourough,Ok he won one trophy but then he totally F34ked England Up.

So wise move UBG. Is it the curse of being Fergies understudy. Call me superstitious but th facts dont lie. Maybe thats why Liverpools Pokemon isnt at the helm.

So lets make Super Tuesday Interactive.
Do you AGREE with me. Also how important is a No 2 mans position in World Football today. And does the no2 position require great or important qualities or can even Uncle Bai Gora become a no2.

LETS GO FURTHER and access which No2 man has ever been great. Avram Grant. He failed and was sacked. ROy Evans was backroom for liverpool but he Failed. Yet clubs always seem to promote the no2 man.............Why.......!

I cant think at the back of my head, which no2 man went on to being great. Now dont get me wrong. Im talking about that immediate jump. Obviously a NO2 man can come back after ten years and do his thing?

Whilst we on the topic. There have been great managers that havent been great players and there have been great players that have mad s#@@ managers.

When we talk about great managers, name spring up like, Marcelo Lippi, Fabio Capello, Rafa Benitez, Sir Alex Ferguson, Omar Hidtfeild, Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho, Bobby Robson, Vincente Del Bosque, Kenny Dalglish
Why are these man in the elusive field of greatness, Because they have won the greatest of competitions.
Lippi won a Champions league, World Cup and Scudetti, Capello was a maestro with AC Milan, Won the LA LIGA, with Madrid and albeit illegal scudetti with Juve. Rafa won Europe with Liverpool when no one expected them to and took Valencia from regular joes to European giants, Sir Alex, well What can I say...no need to explian, League titles and European glory, Omar Heidsfelt the same.Other names that are worthy of being great are Guss Hiddink, we all know what Guus can do

Wenger won major trophys and has made no namers Big players, Petit, Viera, Flamini, Fabragas, Van Persie, Hleb, Eboue, Lauren, Silvinho.
Jose won big things with Porto and Chelsea, Bobby Robson was great, and Kenny Dalglish in the 80's as player manager was class.

Also a great manager is one that can manage egos and great players at the same breadth.
Also a greta manager doesnt take shit. He posseses the ability to make the message clear that no man is bigger than the club. Sir Alex was perfect at this. He has benched great palyers and Big names, Stam, Beckham, Van Nistelrooy. That takes balls and thats why he is so successfull

And then there were mangers, that were just s@34, they bought s@34, Fucked up great clubs and nations heading this pile of names is none other than Graeme Souness. He bought Paul Stewart, Torben Piechnik and took Dalglish's Liverpool from Gold to Stone.

And then obviouly there is names that are balst from the pasts, but guys who were pretty decent. Ron Atkinson, Howard Wilkonson, Bruce Rioch

But what about great players that went on to become managers, some great, some decent and some just couldnt hack it,

Bryan Robson was class as a player, but couldnt cut it. Ruud Gullit was the same. But then there are guys that are decent with average clubs, Hughes, The Govnor, Keane, Martin O Neil, Kevin Keegan

And for Moosa Areff, last but not least there are the ones that were great and are late. Like Brian Clough.....the man was class. He made Forest Kings of Europe in the late 70's

Well also try to look at Goal.coms Best Premiership x11 for the week. This will assist the guys for the Fantasy League

Premier League Team Of The Week: Round 1
Welcome to Goal.com's team of the week. After each round of the Premier League we sieve out the major performers. This week, three debutants and five Englishmen make the first eleven...
Goalkeeper

Shay Given (Newcastle): The Republic of Ireland international pulled off a string of saves to keep Manchester United at bay in their own ground. Even managed to pull of a remarkable block from a Fraizer Campbell header using his own forehead.

Defenders

Jose Bosingwa (Chelsea): He has a lot to live up to after making a €30 million move, but most definitely made the perfect start, bombing up and down the right as Chelsea used their width to good effect.

Andrew O'Brien (Bolton Wanderers): Was named as the local paper's Player of the Season last term, and began the season in equally fine form as he proved a thorn in Stoke City's attempted attacks.

David Wheater (Middlesbrough): A defender in the old-school mould. Not the most elegant of players on the ball, but can tackle well, and possesses an aerial threat from set-play. Netted 'Boro's first goal with twenty minutes left on the clock after having a goal disallowed in the first half for alleged shoving.

Ashley Cole (Chelsea): Flourished under Scolari's regime, returning to his scintillating days donning the Arsenal red. Mirrored Bosingwa on the opposite flank, attacked well, and defended stubbornly.

Midfielders

Deco (Chelsea): What a debut. The Portuguese international was a revelation in his roaming role, pulling strings from start to finish as Portsmouth were made to look pedestrian. A fantastic and much deserved debut goal too.

Xabi Alonso (Liverpool): Came on after the break and turned Liverpool's display around, eventually setting up Fernando Torres with a precise pass. One fails to understand why Rafa Benitez has been looking to replace him with Gareth Barry all summer.

Gareth Barry (Aston Villa):
There may be a cloud over his future, but the Villa skipper has shown over the last four days that he is not going to let it affect his game. Helped set up three goals as Villa romped to a 4-2 win.

Samir Nasri (Arsenal): Was everywhere. His link-up play with Clichy was so well-rehearsed it looked as though the playmaker had been a Gunner for years, rather than weeks. Capped his debut by rounding off a typical Arsenal move with a goal in the opening three minutes.

Strikers

Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa): A superb seven minute hat-trick heaped more misery on a Manchester City side already under pressure. If he can get to 20 for the season, Villa might well finish in the top five.

Dean Ashton (West Ham United): The strong centre forward scored both of West Ham goals in their victory over Wigan. The first was pure power, the second was from close range. Would have been happy to have sealed a brace within the first ten minutes, especially as it was under the watchful eye of England head coach Fabio Capello, unfortunate to have his day ruined by injury.

Given

Bosingwa O'Brien Wheater Cole

Deco Alonso Barry Nasri

Ashton Agbonlahor

Managers: Luiz Felipe Scolari & Phil Brown, for impressive Premier League debuts.

Those Who Came Close

THE START OF A NEW BOOK, NEW SEASON

Well my Birthday weekend was lekker. Very relaxing.Spent it with family and stuff. Myself and Joey Swaar went for a spin Saturday afternoon, had some lekker jingas (prawns) looked at the scenery, and closed the book. Sunday had a lekker game of doubles with Isy Essa and the Essay bros. Was class. Then I got stiff lol on the Hips. played a three setter after many years. But obviously all the excitement was about the sports.

OLYMPIC UPDATE

Phelps hit 8. The Chinamen and women lead the medal tables. Phelps hit the target of 8 medals. Federer and the William sisters crashed out, Nadal hit gold....The man is invincible at the moment,

But how was the f#4ken 100ms chaps. Usain Bolt, his surname suits him. What was it 9.6 seconds and he was still toying around in the last part. My La Liga man Irfaan Adam got a statement from UBG. Yes our man has forgiven the Chinese and they were working on a clothing deal or something. But we will catch up on UBG on Super Tuesday and dont close the Darwajoh (door)

But UBG.... YOH YOH.. UBG was running with the camera filming Usain Bolt.. Good One Irfaan.

Also now we know why everybody wants to wear the clothing range Ed Hardy. Look at the silhouette on the Ed Hardy T-shirt.

For thise of you that missed the 100m Final

TRI NATIONS
Azee ..........please I await your comments. The Boks have been thumped 19-0 in Newlands against the All Blacks. WTF. De Villiers will be questioned again, Im sure. Anybody please leave your comments

FROM THE KOP END
Thank you Torres, for that wonder strike. I believe it was a well taken goal. I didnt watch the game but Il open the debate with the Kop owes on the line up, the performance, Hows Robbi Keane linking up etc

ALWAYS A GUNNER
One thing the Toppie Wenger always makes and impact in the market. Samir Nasri getting the Gunners 3 points. I still dont think Arsenal take any titles, But considering Fabregas is injured the Toppie has opened up his season in winning ways

CHEL$KI
Now these are my favourites for the title. Really. This could be Chelseas year. I think that they have a f#4ken strong squad. I mean they routed POMPEY. With a midfield of Joe Cole, Lampard, Ballack and Deco. Something told me, make Deco your Captain in the Fantasy. I f#4ken should have. Terry described the midfield maestro as someting else. And it showed with his wonder strike. To me Chelsea look the hottest, their squad has depth. Watch them. Good luck Loks and PIM badaam Tracy........This year could be blue

THEATER OF DREAMS
Now Il save the best moment for last. A moment that concluded the Birthday weekend. The MANCS drew. Now the MANCS always start slow. But this time they lacked penetration upfront and as the onlin poll says.Do UTD need a striker. Ronaldo is injured and it shows in teh fantasy league. Herbly and the likes are all starting at the bottom. Rooney , I dunno whats up with Rooney. He is just not himself, Rumour has it that Teves lost someone in his family and he was not present. So they should bring in a striker. Is Berbatov coming, Is it Henry. Im sure the toppie Ferguson has a plan. But for now lets savour the moment as UTD losing two points.

But with their worries theres always the s#4te Darren Fletcher.

Good wins for Villa and a hatrick for the pacy Agbanlahor. Barry was class. Good wins for Middlesbrough, West hame and Hull. On the whole a great start to the campaign......and Everton lost to the GUVNOR'S BLACKBURN. yOU KNOW WHATS GONNA BE GOOD is when Sunderland and Blackburn clash with the MANCS, Lots of things to prove and they will be tough times for the MANCS

FROM THE KOP END

No DSTV at my grannys place so I had to log on to soccernet.com and speak to a few owes. Ebie Kop End phoned me and told me how pathetic Liverpool were playing and how Reina saved them, first from a penalty and second off the line.Other than that he said Liverpool were s#$te.

Liverpool survived a difficult night in Belgium against Standard Liege to return to Anfield for the second leg of their Champions League qualifier in a fortnight all-square after a goalless draw.

The fanatical Liege fans hang a massive 'Hell side' banner from their favourite end of their intimidating stadium.
And Liverpool know it is hell they escaped from. Jose Reina was their hero, saving a first-half penalty in the third qualifying round, first-leg clash.
Rafa relieved after sub-standing showing
But the Spaniard looked to get away with clawing another shot back from behind the line as Liege pounded the Mersey giants.
Liege could easily have won by two or three goals, but Liverpool now know they have the chance of progressing to the lucrative group stages in front of their own fans.
There is around £10million of UEFA prize money at stake for them, and the spectre of Rangers' disastrous exit from this competition in the qualifiers will hang over Liverpool until they have put an end to Liege's dreams.
Boss Rafael Benitez opted not to risk skipper Steven Gerrard from the start, naming him on the bench, along with Andriy Voronin, while French teenager Damien Plessis played in central midfield alongside Xabi Alonso.
It means the Spaniard is now cup-tied in Europe if the Reds do sell him during the transfer window.
Italian full-back Andrea Dossena and £20million new boy Robbie Keane made their competitive Liverpool debuts as the five-times winners of this competition sought the expected comfortable step towards the group stages having never lost an away leg at this stage of the competition.
Liege were without the suspended American and one-time Newcastle defender, Oguchi Onyewu.
And the hosts were not prepared to risk Serbian striker Milan Javanovic, even on the bench, with him likely to be sold shortly to Marseille.
The locals whipped up quite a storm ahead of their club's debut in the Champions League.
Their tight, high-sided, three-tier stadium was rocking with noise and flares lit up both ends of the Maurice Dufrasne stadium.
The Liege players responded to the fanatical support with a fierce opening that could have seen them score twice.
After just six minutes Reina looked to have clawed the ball back from behind the line after a close-range shot from Marouane Fellaini had bounced across goal off the far post.
Some Liege players protested, others tried to force the ball home in a six-yard box melee with Liverpool frozen in panic.
And Liverpool were still in a daze when they conceded a penalty soon after.
But Reina rescued the team again when he made a fine save with his legs from a Dante Bonfim penalty, after Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovrebo adjudged that Dossena had handled a cross from Wilfried Dalmat, although the infringement looked outside the box.
Liverpool were in disarray at the back as crosses rained in, and their zonal marking at set-pieces looked ready to crack at any moment.
Liege continued to be quicker to the ball in midfield, and equally as fast to break at pace.
Alonso was booked for a tackle on Deiu Mbokani, and still Liverpool had barely got into Liege's box.
And when they did get that far up field, Fernando Torres was taking a fair bit of stick from the home defenders, Marcos Camozzato was eventually booked for one late assault on the Spaniard's ankles.
Alonso came closest for Liverpool in the opening half when he curled a 25-yard free-kick on to the net, but this was a mess and the silent Liverpool fans high up in the stadium knew it.
The second half continued in much the same vein, Liverpool being hounded into mistakes all over the pitch.
One 40-yard punt up field cleared the entire Liverpool defence and Axel Witsel almost got on the end of it in the box with Reina scrambling.
Belgian youngster Fellaini was dominating midfield from what was a holding role, with plenty of licence to attack. The 20-year-old continually broke up play and surged forward.
Another 20-year-old, skipper Steven Defour, was having an equally impressive game in the middle.
Torres, starved of service, managed a long-range low drive that went a foot wide.
But Liege were still surging forward, and they almost took the lead after 65 minutes when Igor de Camargo got in front of Daniel Agger to head a deep, angled pass from Bonfim just wide of Reina's right-hand post.
That was the cue for Gerrard's arrival in place of Keane, who had struggled desperately to make any sort of impact.
Alonso fired just wide and Gerrard lifted a free-kick over the bar, but Liege still came forward.
And it took a Yossi Benayoun clearance in front of an open goal to stop a Mbokani header that had beaten Reina, from bouncing home.
Gerrard clearly was not really right, but his influenced calmed frayed nerves.
Had the England midfielder been closer to fitness, surely Benitez would have brought him on earlier, such was the ineptitude of the Liverpool display.
Next into the fray was young Moroccan winger Nabil El Zhar, for Dirk Kuyt. And with two minutes left El Zhar was flattened by Tomislav Mikulic, costing the Serb a booking.
Gerrard almost fired the free-kick home, Rorys Aragon Espinoza saving to his left.
Rafa relieved after sub-standing showing
Rafael Benitez admitted his relief at the desperate goalless draw Liverpool achieved to keep their Champions League dreams alive.
The five-time winners could easily have finished the match three or four goals in arrears after a hammering from Standard Liege in everything but goals.
Liverpool chief Benitez said: 'We were not surprised by the fine performance of the Liege side, we had seen enough of them to know they were a good, aggressive side.
'The real surprise for me was the way Liverpool played. The only positive to take from the match was the fact that we did not concede a goal.
'We will have to be a lot better in the second leg at Anfield, much better.
'We have been playing well in pre-season, looking confident and passing the ball well.
'But we did not do any of those things. I did not want to bring Steven Gerrard on because the doctors had told me he was not fit enough to start the match.
'We waited until well into the second-half before using him, but we were not controlling the game and I had to bring him on.'
Gerrard was initially ruled out with a thigh strain and looked well short of his combative best when he eventually entered the fray.
Benitez added: 'This game was far more difficult than we expected. And Jose Reina was the man of the match.'
Reina saved a first-half penalty and also looked to have clawed one effort back from behind the line early on.
Benitez said: 'We know we can always rely on Pepe to stop penalties, but we have been told that the other effort may have been behind the line, but these things happen.'
Liege coach Laszlo Boloni praised his own side's performance, but said: 'Liverpool maybe came here asleep and not expecting this sort of game.
'Maybe, though, we have woken them up for the second-leg, which will me much harder for us.
'We felt that if we did not lose this first-leg, we would still be in with a chance. We know, though, that we still have to score and that could be the problem.
'But I want to praise my team. They attacked Liverpool from the start, and when their goalkeeper pulled the ball back from behind the line, maybe the referee was asleep too.'

PRAYER ROOM AT EWOOD PARK

Killa just send me some top news. Hows this

Prayer room opened at Ewood Park
8:00am Tuesday 12th August 2008

A PRAYER room has been created at Ewood Park to allow Blackburn Rovers fans to worship on matchdays.
It is hoped the move will help to attract new supporters from all faiths and backgrounds.
The new multi-faith prayer room has been opened in the Blackburn End for the new season.
It is one of the first such facilities to open at a Premier League football stadium.
The move has been praised as “commendable” by the Lancashire Council of Mosques and The Dean of Blackburn Cathedral.
It has been built in the lower concourse area, where supporters buy snacks, drinks, place bets, and watch Rovers TV, by taking away space from one of the toilet blocks.
Rovers’ managing director Tom Finn said the specially sound-proofed facility was designed to provide existing staff and supporters with a quiet space for prayer and reflection, as well as encouraging fans from all faiths and backgrounds to attend more games.
Bolton Wanderers already have a quiet room in one of the stands at the Reebok Stadium and last season every team in the Scottish Premier League made facilities available to allow Muslim players to pray before and after games.
Adult Muslims are required to pray five times daily, as part of their religion.
At Ewood Park supporters wishing to use the facility, who are located in other areas of the stadium, will be able to gain access to the multi-faith room by asking a steward. Stewards will then escort supporters to the room.
Mr Finn said: “We welcome all fans to Ewood Park, whatever their backgrounds. We acknowledge that we live in a diverse society and therefore need to accommodate the needs of people from all walks of life.”
Salim Mulla, the senior vice chairman of the Lancashire Council of Mosques, said the creation of the facility was “commendable”.
Mr Mulla, who is also the vice chairman of the Blackburn with Darwen inter-faith council, said: “This is a fantastic gesture by Blackburn Rovers and shows that the club has got a very good understanding of the needs of the Muslim community.
“There is a large Muslim community in East Lancashire and I am sure that this move will encourage more Muslim people to go to matches.
“What they have done is very positive and should be commended.”
Bosses at Blackburn Rovers said they did not want to reveal the exact contents of the room but fans who attended the friendly against NEC Breda on Saturday reported seeing prayer mats, as well as copies of religious texts.
Dean Christopher Armstrong, from Blackburn Cathedral, said: “As everyone knows, Blackburn has two cathedrals, one here in the centre of town and another at Ewood Park!
“Blackburn Rovers have to find ways to appeal to a wider community and already offer many superb facilities.
“The club is to be congratulated on its open-mindedness and recognising the spirituality of all of its fans. It is crucial that inter-faith projects like this are allowed to succeed.”
Multi-faith prayer rooms are already in place in the Royal Blackburn Hospital, all local town halls and even most motorway service stations.

THEORY OF LOVE

In the words of Shah Rukh Khan.. “Pyaar kain sein ho ta hein” - From “Aanke Khuli” in Mohabbatein.. I do not know much on this topic but have watched enough Bollywood shows to have a good idea of whats it about.. Firstly lets re-iterate on whats it not.. It is not sending ur lusted one a sms in the morning and one at night.. It is not chatting to them on Mxit with a HEART smiley face.. It is not calling them every night to find out about their day.. It is also not sending them emoti-cards with singing birds and shit.. It is also not taking them for supper and a movie once in a while..

SUPER TUESDAYS ON SWOOSH0018.COM

This flu has got me buggered really....Im still recovering.

So no lengthy Super Tuesday Post today.....

Im just gonna leave this post short and sweet.
The Premiership is kicking off. A few questions.
What are your Top three Predictions and or title contenders.

Any players that we feel will make an impact on the EPL.
My predictions Chelsea for the Title, Liverpool second and the MANCS 3rd. No place for Arsenal in the Top 3.

As for players that will come Big. Deco, Ballack, Torres and possibly Theo Walcott. I dont think Ronaldo will have such an impact as he did last year.

Also the Introduction of Big Phil will introduce some flavour and pedigree and certainly great rivalry between the Top Four.
