Fair Enuf these huys were Muggs but a win is a win and now Liverpool are on a collision course with juve who held out against Ajaz.A tricky tie and 0-0 in Turin means Juve were through. Cisse and Pananthiakos sunk Roma with three goals in 5 crazy minutes.
But theres still some dangerous floaters there...Wolfsburg,Valencia...Thursday night Football....

TENDULKAR-NUF SAID

"the little master is and always will be the best of the best

as Tony Greg once said about the world's best batsmen.... there is Tendulakar, then there is daylight, then there is the rest of them"- Mohammed Carrim Mombhai

I took a walk in the plaza when Tendulkar was on 140 some odd and stopped over by Zahier Bayant at World of Samoosas,Grat place to pitstop when there is cricket, especially since its India or Pakistan. The India Paps were saying in that tone shaking their head...Ten Dool CAR....
I remember during the World Cup in 2003 when Husain Mayet & Ebie Jay watched a India vs Pak game and said that this man was class.Class is what we saw.I mean the first man to score a double hundred in a one day against an attack that are no Muggs. SA were shellshocked,no answer to that and go down and lose the series.A good 34 for Amla but as a team SA were outdone by Sachin.
And all around the Plaza you just heard "Sulla Boh maar Pere" (SA getting good hiding"

PHILLIPA MULLER

This weeks babe of the week is the sexy Phillipa Muller from Cape Town.Phillipa is also in the top 10 of FHM Models 2010. To vote for Phillipa and see her exclusive one on one with PIM..

MOURINHO VS ANCELOTTI

The atmosphere electric at the San Siro and its Jose or Ancelotti. Jose returning to the bridge for the next leg.

Last night Barcelona were shellshocked but then settled in as they went one down to Kakow, or cacow or Kaka pronounced cow. Stuttgart were causing some problems but when Ibrahimovic who did nothing the whole game Barca sorta found their rythym. But lets not get arried away there is no where Stuttgart will repeat the feat at the Nou Camp.
In other results Bordeuax are through and Sevilla drew in Moscow. Cant wait for the second legs

SA HURT AGAIN

Well this past week wherever Ive been, the Plaza ,the streets, the Masiets our owes are just talking about Hashim Amla and his great test Run.Later Im gonna dedicate a special post to Hashim Bhai.Swoosh0018 has to rock with cricket because Hashim Amla has achieved greatness and has made it to number two in the world. But more on Hash in my later post.I have to dig deep to pay homage to this man and wonderful cricketer and do justice to my post and to what he has evolved in
And with great stats and form Amla was left out of the ODI Squad. I cant understand the selectors.Hash is on Fire and when a man is on fire ride with it. Instead they leave him out and SA again come all the way to the finish line and fail.It was like at Campus If you going to fail ,fail like a Mugg...with 20 or 10 %,But when you walked into Educom and seen FAIL 49%, it was heart breaking.
What was the problem. The batting again.Credit to Steyn and Parnell but it was not their job.
Many pundits are calling for AB's head. I recall Hash saying recently that AB is incredible in what he brings to the team.He is an ultimate athlete.
I say DROP Majola and the Selectors. That is where the problem is. So are we gonna see Hash.?
Or will they stick to the plan. Whats amazing is that Hash wouldnt have even been there if Smith was fit.
Are we afraid to lose for a while an bring in new talent.
Should we have gone for an International coach and avoided mistakes like hiring Simons, Arthur and now Van Zyl.Also many of the pundits that have lambasted Kallis are now eating their words.
Get rid of the Politics Cricket SA and move forward now!
Oh and Azee what ever happened to the lad called Thandi Tshabalala. Can he spin the ball more than Harris.
One toppie in the plaza even pulled out this lity Govind or Gobind from Natal.
If Imran Tahir goes to sort his paperwork out SA can finally field a quality spinner.I mean who were our spinners past and present.
If Warne was great and could spin on glass then what did we expect from, Omar Henry,Paul Adams, Van de Merwe (where is he)Botha and Harris. I think Clive Eksteen will do a better job he he

TOFFEES ANYONE

And so the Mancs lose a premiership game.Always a great feeling...Everton have pulled the result and Chelsea won so even better. Maybe the MANCS were tired from Europe and the trip to the San Siro.
A vital 3 points lost.I didnt watch the game but If any hurt MANC comments Im sure we will get some views.
Also great to see Phil Neville playing with heart and making vital tackles and interceptions. I hardly seen any MANCS, just seen the Abus so it was enjoyable to send some jeers that way. Now if Only Milan could complete the business at Old Trafford.
Chelsea won 2-0 thanks to the Drog again. The man is having a belting year.Hardly even falling these days
and Arsenal were sound against Sunderland. Winning 2-0.Eboue the architect of the opener.I just want to know is Eboue a k#4k player.
As for us Liverpool a 0-0 draw against City and aside from the Europa league we have nothing to look forward to but fourth. What a Shame

In La Liga Madrid and Barcelona vie for honours as thy both thump there opponents.Penaltinho and Co hammered Villareal 6-2 as they brace themselves for Lyon.
In Serie A AC,Juve and Roma all win.Inter draw. Zacherroni now has won 3 in a row.
It was Del Piero who pulled them out of the shit last week with a brace.
The worrying thing is the form of Gigi Buffon. Fumbling and hesitating. This is not Buffon and its worrying for the Azurri.
Another Timer keeps debating with us that Peppe Reyna is better than Buffon.
Buffons form is a low point in an otherwise enchanting weekend.

In the Soweto Derby Chiefs and Pirates drew 0-0.
Chiefs havent beaten Pirates now in two years.

WHO MISSED OUT

WOZA SA 2010 WOZA

GREATEST PLAYERS NEVER TO PLAY
IN A FIFA WORLD CUP

ALFREDO DI STEFANO
“SAETA RUBIA (THE BLONDE ARROW)”
Full Name: Alfredo Di Stefano Laulhe
Date of Birth: 4 July 1926

Alfredo Di Dtefano was one of the greatest footballers the game of football has ever produced. Di Stefano’s most successful era was with Real Madrid in the late 50’s where he won the first 5 consecutive European Cups with the club. Along with Ferenc Puskas, Francisco Gento, Jose Santamaria & Raymond Kapo, Di Stefano was part of the greatest teams of all time at Real Madrid. The 7-3 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1960 final was one of the greatest displays of football ever a game in which Di Stefano scored 4 times. Up until recently he held the Record for most European Goals of all time with 49 goals in just 58 matches as well as holding the record for most League goals scored for Real Madrid 216 in 282 League matches, both of which are now held by Raul. Di Stefano was also named European player of the year twice in 1957 & 1959.

Although his playing position was that of a centre forward Di Stefano was a very versatile and perhaps the most complete footballer of all time. He could play in almost any outfield position and his playing style defined that as he would collect the ball from his own goal area when initiating attacks.
Pele said about Di Stefano “People talk about the best being Pele or Maradona, but for me the best player ever was Alfredo Di Stefano.”

Sir Bobby Charlton said “Pele was Magnificent, but the greatest player I ever saw was Alfredo Di Stefano. He was the brainiest player I ever saw. And I always saw him in his 30’s . He must have really been something at 19.
Maradona has said the following about Di Stefano “I don’t know if I was a better player than Pele, but I can say without any doubt that Di Stefano was better than Pele. I am proud when one speaks of Di Stefano. I can say that Maradona could be worse than Pele, but I emphasize that Di Stefano was better.”
How he missed out.
Alfredo Di Stefano at the age of 24 missed out at the 1950 World Cup as Argentina refused to play at the tournament because they were not the hosts.
In 1954 Di Stefano was ineligible to play as he had played for both Colombia & Argentina however both were not present at the tournament.
In 1956 he became a Spanish International but Spain failed to qualify for the 1958 World Cup tournament.
In 1962 Di Stefano finally managed to help Spain qualify for the 1962 tournament in Chile and was part of the Spanish squad along with the likes of Ferenc Puskas, Francisco Gento & Jose Santamaria, however he got injured before the tournament and never featured.
Alfredo Di Stefano, The greatest player never to play at the FIFA World Cup.

GEORGE BEST
22 May 1946 – 25 November 2005

George Best undoubtedly made his name in football with Manchester United. At the Age of 15 he was first discovered by MUFC scout Bob Bishop who told manager Matt Busby “I think I’ve found you a Genius”.
The brilliant and legendary right winger, Best possessed pace and acceleration as well as dribbling skills to beat any defender in the game, the ability to use both feet and the ability to score goals regularly.
George Best was a Manchester United Legend whose defining season came in 1968 when he helped Man United to win the European Cup. Best scored in the final when United beat Benfica 4-1. He also went on to win the European Player of the Year Award that year in 1968. Best also won the English League Title with Man United in 1965 & 1967.
George Best was a brilliant footballer with dazzling skills. However his extravagant lifestyle also made him a celebrity. In fact when Best scored twice against Benfica in the European Cup quarterfinal in 1966, the Portuguese media dubbed him “El Beatle” and was also known as “the fifth Beatle”. GQ magazine also named best as one of the 50 most stylish men of the past 50 years. However it was the fame and celebrity status that ultimately led to George Best’s football career fading away before time and him turning towards alcohol. This ultimately led to his death at the age of 59 in 2005.
George Best represented Northern Ireland at international level. He represented Northern Ireland 37 times but could not lead them to the FIFA World Cup and thus never featured at Football’s Greatest Stage. Best was considered for selection at the age of 36 for the 1982 World Cup which Northern Ireland qualified for but due to his drinking and lack of football playing time coach Billy Bingham decided against it.
In Northern Ireland George Best was an icon and the people created the following saying about the football superstar
“Maradona Good, Pele Better, George Best”

GEORGE WEAH

Full Name: George Tawlon Manneh Oppong Ousman Weah
Date of Birth: 1 October 1966

George Weah was arguably the Greatest African footballer of all time. Weah’s greatest success came with his club football career with notably AC Milan. In 1995 George Weah had undoubtedly his greatest season ever with Milan where he was top scorer in the Champions League, where Milan were finalists, as well as won World Footballer of the Year, European Footballer of the Year and African footballer of the Year. His award as FIFA World Player of the year in 1995 makes George Weah the only FIFA World Player of the year to have never qualified for or played at a FIFA World Cup.
George Weah moved to Europe in 1988 to play for Monaco where his talent was spotted by then coach of Monaco, Arsene Wenger.

As an African footballer Weah won the Best African Player of the year award 3 times as well as The African Player of the Century Award.
Weah was however unable to lead his nation Liberia to the World Cup as both a player or later as a coach. In total he played 60 times and scored 22 goals. Africa’s greatest player never featured at the World Cup.

ABEDI PELE
“THE AFRICAN MARADONA”

Full Name: Abedi Ayew
Date of Birth: 5 November 1964

Abedi Pele like George Weah was very dominant at club level in the 90’s. Abedi was most successful with Olympique Marseille where he won 4 French league titles as well as a very famous European Cup by beating the mighty Milan in the finals. Abedi Pele won African footballer of the year 3 times in a row, 1991, 1992 & 1993. He was part of Marseille’s Magical Trio along with Jean Pierre Papin & Chris Waddle and was the only 1 remaining when Marseille won the European Cup in 1993. He later played for Torino in Italy where he won the Best Foreign Player in Serie A in 1996.
For Ghana Abedi Pele was most successful at the 1982 African Cup of Nations Tournament where he was part of the team that won that tournament. 10 years later Abedi Pele won the Golden Ball Award for best player of the 1992 AFCON where Ghana lost to Ivory Coast on penalties in the final as Abedi was suspended for picking a 2nd yellow card in the semi-finals. In this tournament he scored 3 spectacular goals, a solo run from his own half against Congo which is compared to Maradona’s 2nd goal against England in the 86 World Cup as well as back header from the edge of the penalty area in the semi-final against Nigeria. In 1996 Abedi at the twilight of his career led Ghana to the semi-finals of the 1996 AFCON tournament scoring 3 times.
Abedi Pele played 73 times for Ghana scoring 33 times as well as holds the record for most appearances ever at the African Cup of Nations. Unfortunately during his footballing career Ghana never qualified for the FIFA World Cup and so Abedi Pele missed out.

ERIC CANTONA
“KING ERIC”

Full Name: Eric Daniel Pierre Cantona
Date of Birth: 24 May 1966

Eric Cantona’s greatest success as a footballer was with Manchester United. His early career in France in the late 80’s was filled with disciplinary problems and issues which resulted in numerous suspensions and ultimately led to Cantona himself retiring from football, completely in 1991. However due to the influence of coaches Michel Platini and Gerard Houllier Cantona’s career as a footballer was revived back in England in 1992 with Leeds United whom he joined half way through the season and was instrumental in Leeds winning the English Title that season. The following year Cantona was signed on by Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson where he was instrumental in Manchester United winning the title in the 92-93 season, their first title since 1967. Cantona became the first and only player ever to win back to back English League Titles with 2 different clubs. Cantona’s career with Manchester United resulted in the club winning the title the following year as well as well as 2 further League titles in 1996 & 1997. Cantona is often credited with bringing Manchester United back to the top of the English Game. However his stint with the club, though filled with major success, was not without controversy, most notably his Kung-Fu kick on a spectator after being Sent Off against Crystal Palace.
Cantona was then banned for the rest of the season, which was the only season of Cantona’s stint with Manchester United that they did not win a trophy. In total Cantona scored 80 times for Manchester United and was instrumental in their success in the 1990’s in English football. He retired from football after the 1997 season with Manchester United at the age of 30. Cantona was named Overseas player of the Decade in the FA Premier League.
Eric Cantona never featured at the FIFA World Cup due to various reasons. In 1987 he made his debut for the French Team but after being dropped by coach Henri Michel he publicly referred to him as a “Bag of Shit” and was banned from all International Games for the French Team. After Michel was sacked for failing to make the 1990 World Cup coach Platini who liked Cantona, said he would just Cantona for the national team as long as he was playing competitive football and was instrumental in Cantona’s move to Leeds. However Platini resigned as coach after France failed to win a game at the 1992 Euro Champs even with Cantona and Papin being the front line partnership.

Under Coach Houllier Cantona and France failed to qualify for the 1994 World Cup. New Coach Aime Jacquet made Cantona captain but after his infamous Kung-Fu Kick in 1995 he was suspended from international football as well. With the likes of the highly talented Zidane now pulling the strings for France Cantona was no longer instrumental in the national team plans and retired from all football in 1997 and thus never featured at the FIFA World Cup.

BERND SCHUSTER

Full Name: Bernhard Schuster

Bernd Schuster was a brilliant German midfielder who made most of his success in Spain playing for Barcelona, Real Madrid & Athletico Madrid. He won 3 La Liga titles 1 with Barcelona and 2 with Real Madrid. Schuster is also one of the brave footballers who made the direct move from Barcelona to Real Madrid who are Arch Enemies. He also won a European Cup Winners Cup with Barcelona in 1982.
Berns Schuster was a classy midfielder who was instrumental in West Germany winning the European National Championships in 1980 and finished 2nd to team-mate Karl Heinz Rummenigge that year as European Footballer of the Year, However due to constant disagreements between himself and the German National Team, Schuster strangely retired from international football at the Age of 24. He cited his reasons for retirement due to disagreements with the National team as well as players such as Paul Breitner. His club Barcelona were also at loggerheads with the German National Team with regards to the playing of friendlies. In all Schuster played 22 times for Germany and having retired at the Age of 24 never featured at the FIFA World Cup.

KHOTA & GARDA ON SA CRICKET

With all the hiring, firing and criticism being hurled at SA Cricket Swoosh0018 had to catch up with two community media pundits Aslam Khota & Ashraf Garda and get their views on whats been going on in South African Cricket

Firstly Aslam & Ashraf, great to have you back. Without further adue..
Hashim Amlas double Ton.Lets hear it, and the big question ...Was Smith Correct in declaring?
Aslam: Hashim had scored some really superb hundreds and the 156 he scored in Chennai in 2008 was his first on foreign soil. This must have given him confidence to know that he can bat on the surfaces in the sub-continent. This double has catapulted Hashim to another level. He has finally 'arrived' on the Test Scene. The confidence, self belief and ability will become even more clearer and evident as he continues to learn the craft of batsmanship. I am answering this blog after he got to his second hundred in the 2nd Test. Judging by how he compiled those runs vindicates the above statement. Like Kallis, Hashim is now genuinly a 'prize' wicket at the very top level of the game.
Smith without question was justified. The end justifies the means and the Proteas won by an innings! Many captains in the history of the game have done it at some time. I recall Mike Atherton declaring the England innings when Graeme Hick was on 98. In 1982 Imran Khan declared when Javed Miandad was on 280, chasing countryman Hanif Mohameds long-standing record of 333 (1953-54) and aiming to beat Sir Garry Sobers then record of 365. The result was another win for Pakistan. Many members of the public of all colours were critical of Smith, most I guess hardly watched (or listened!) the game, but made a hulla ballu. Hashim had batted for 11 and 1/2 hours, was suffering from cramp, needed pain killers and salt-Tablets at regular intervals. In essence he was exhausted. A players rule in Tests is that when a declaration is imminent, you stay not-out, especially when you score big! Hashim will be last to even consider that his captain was selfish.
Ashraf: I think Smith was right - the priority is to win a test match and we were not to know that India would fall so cheaply in both innings fo the first test.So SA needed enough time to bowl them out twice.( India in the first innings of the 2nd test just proved my point) Also it is common practice for teams to declare in the hope of getting a wkts or two before stumps.( India did that against SA in 2nd test) .My feeling - I think Smith declared too late I would have given the team atleast 8 overs to bowl or even 10 that day and not 4. I have followed the debate about Smith's "selfish" declaration - and I think it is mischief making .. Do we have any proof for such slander? Has anyone got it from Smith or Hash or someone on the inside that he's reason for declaring was to prevent Hash from breaking the SA record. Has anybody got it first hand from Hashim. I think if Amla is good enough he will break all records one day- but ultimately its a team game and the team is judged by victories not by individual records

Politics ,Politics, never part of Swoosh0018,But this time we eager to stick our nose in.

Arthur resigning,Hash dropped from the one day squad,Gauteng Cricket Board Fiasco. Are we reading in too much into this?
Aslam:The issues are completely seperate. Arthur was simply not happy with the new terms that was to come together with immediate effect. As a coach he had plans for SA till the 2011 World Cup when his contract was up for reconsideration. Hashims dropping simply stinks of deceit and skullduggery! If Loots Bosman HAD to be included did it mean a player of colour had to make way? The question is who is calling the shots - definitely NOT the selectors. The GCB is filled with old style colonial racists who are doing their best to divide and rule. May their intentions expose them for what they are as this country has come a long way since apartheid. Apartheid is not dead in Gauteng cricket! Hard words but true!!. I hope the sports ministry, the Government and the CSA act immediately and put the idiots to pass once and for all. This province will produce nothing substantial with the dishonesty and maladministration that so resembles some of the members.
Ashraf: Gauteng Cricket Board - don't know enough about it - can't really comment

Are you happy with the decision that the Selectors have been dropped ,Wessels in and calls for Husein manack and the likes to be axed from the board and be replaced..What is going on?
Aslam: Wessels has no involvement whatsoever! The selectors were only in office for 14 months! The board has been very vague in its dealings wih the media. They have yet to explain just why they were relieved of their jobs. The GCB situation has been covered in the previous question. You havent heard the last of that fiasco. I do hope truth will prevail. The members who were fired were adament on correcting the various ills of the past and were honest brokers.

Ashraf,Are you happy with the decision that the Selectors have been dropped ,Wessels in and calls for Husein manack and the likes to be axed from the board and be replaced..What is going on?

Dyna Garda gave me permission to quote him and say that .
Why in Gauteng cricket the Indian litys or batsman are batting at ten and eleven and not given a chance...Thats what Dyna says. Are our guys doing something for community development or just there to occupy space
(if im correct with the above statement)
Ashraf: Development - I agree that since Unity not enough of an effort hasd been made by both Gauteng Cricket Board and Cricket SA to truly grow the game in the asian community-this despite the fact that they acknowledge the huge Asian support at games . In fact CSA acknowledges the massive asian attendance at the 438 game. They have to set up more acadamies in the communites Lenasia/ Eldorado Park /Soweto /Mayfair then the player will come through " this conveyor belt"The other school of thought is that overall our kids are not hungry enough and their is enough evidence of this

Aslam, Have you enjoyed the commentary recently. It was a great series against England. One we should have duely won if we werent allergic to Onions :)? Great performances from our guys.
What positives did you draw going forward.?
Aslam: I always enjoy commentating. You are right; Onions made PRO tears!! Get It? It is hard to win when the TEAM is not firing at full throttle. Sadly many lads were off form all at the same time.
There were good performances, but too late in the last Test. 2009 was an abyssmal season. Lost to Aussies. ICC Champs trophy, Couldn't beat England in ODI and TEST. It was the right time for Arthur to go. Fresh Ideas and approaches were needed going ahead for TESTs and the World Cup and beyond. Positives are that the team have match-winners but they must as a team rise and learn to stay at the top. This illustrates clearly just how great the Windies of the 70's, 80's and early 90's and the Aussies since then have been, to have sustained themsleves as top dogs in all forms of the game.

Duminy and Prince are horribly off form. Its surprising,Just a while back JP was offfered 900 000 US for the IPL, and this time round he is off form. BUT yet cost so much.
My point is cricketers will earn in the IPL more than they would earn playing for their country. Is the IPL destroying cricket......Will it drain the passion for playing for your country? Or on the contrary is it re-igniting the fire for the game?
'Form is temporary, class is permanent'. Prince has sacrificed his position and his proud record for his country. He cannot be dropped and will bounce back. Any team with the steel of Smith, Kallis, now Amla and Prince will be hard to beat. Duminy has lost confidence. Can the one day game revive his fortunes? I guess not. Test cricket is different and he will tell you that. Duminy is young, he needs to return to domestic cricket, clear his mind and find confidence all over again. Sport is so much about confidence. Look at Morne Morkel. There is very little change in the bowler. He is just clear of mind and doing the basics right. Duminy is worth that money in T20 and I believe he will perform in the IPL. T20 cricket has a place in the world game. However it must not take precedence and degrade the TEST scene. It is good for money for players and boards etc. A great injection for the game in all aspects including going to non-cricketing nations. Fortunately the players know that TEST cricket is the ultimate level at which to ascertain ones true ability, as a cricketer, as man, as a team man, for Big match temperament, for strong willed character. To know that you can perfom at the highest level with all the pressures that come with it. It is the greatest game on earth! How could you chose any over Test cricket. Sacrilegious

Ashraf:As for JP Duminy's form- that happens to the best of us- he has talent but is vulnerable as everybody is - at test level the opposition has time to work you out - it happened to Hashim and it's also happened to Smith and it will happen to others too

I think the IPL concept is great-but their is a glut of one day and 50 over cricket . Outside of the world cups international one day 50 over 20 over cricket is meaningless - lots of fun but it has no relevance..
Example What was the score between Australia and SA in the twenty over games in this country ? What was the Liverpool V Man United score last year ?Which games do u remember....
Thanks Guys...We hope to have you back again soon....

Oh ,Do you think SA will bat and save the second test in Kolkatta?
Aslam: Can you do the rain dance? Get Fordsburg to join u!!!!!!

WHY I HATE MAN UTD SO MUCH

Ok.As the blog turns 4 in March I have decided to come clean on Why i hate Man Utd so much.I was at a friend in the week and he asked me "Swoosh Why do you hate Man Utd So much?

Ok heres why I hate these bastards

  • When I was 8 my first ever kit was the liverpool Crown Paints red kit. I loved that kit.At the time in my family my toppie supported Ipswich,My bro Leeds and my Oom Notts Forest. Who was Man Utd. I never knew.
  • The only thing I knew of man Utd was a guy called Norman Whiteside who scored in the FA Cup Final and Sharp sponsored them thats because the connextions bought Sharp Hi Fis and Radios
  • Liverpool were winning everything as I started Grade one and finished primary school
  • When I went for my first training session with Tigers under 10 under Dr Aboo Seedat i had my Crown paints kit
  • I played striker and wanted to be a lity that scored as many goals as possible.I wanted to be like Ian Rush
  • Everything about my youth was just Liverpool
  • Then came the 90's & I hate the MANCS solely because they displaced us and started winning teh way we won
  • The MANCS were always arrogant, squealing and bullying the referees
  • They started winning titles and they had Ryan Giggs
  • The MANCS steal from the poor and always win losing games in stoppage time
  • The MANCS made Samuel Kouffor cry and won in Europe from the dead.Thats theft
  • John Terry slips and the MANCS win in Europe again.
  • The MANCS bought Roy Keane from Notts Forest at a steal.
  • There are many more reasons of which I will add......But this stays for now..But when you hate something, you just hate it

DURBAN SKYCAR

Swoosh0018 correspondents from Durban Nazeera & Ayesha recently went up the Sky Car at the Moses Mabida stadium and though many are describing the Durban Stadium as one of a kind the Sky Car is definately a must for many tourists.
Saleem Bha recently went to Durban where he met some German Tourists. They were looking at the Stadium. He said "But you guys have the Aliance Arena,They said Yes we do,But nothing compares to this.
Well here are the pics and views from the Sky Car

THE SA SUPPORTER DILEMA

Living and growing up as an Indian in South Africa, one is always lambasted with anti-racism, or should I say anti apartheid comments. Living as an Indian during the apartheid regime meant you had limited rights and freedoms, and many of our parents suffered as a consequence of it.

The big change happened in 1994. Some 16 years ago. However even prior to that, change was evident. Growing up in the late 80's and early 90's we were quite free to do as we pleased.. There were not many restrictions on our daily lives, and those horrible days we just heard about, yet not experienced personally.

South African sport was in isolation. We grew up watching Transvall under Clive Rice, and English League soccer on TV 3. Benson & Hedges cricket was the best in the world. Or rather all we knew about. Then suddenly, a tour to India. Watching Mohammed Azharudin and Sachin Tendulkar. Followed closely by 1992 World Cup. Mark Greatbatch, Allan Border, Imran Khan, Curtley Ambrose. A whole new world of cricket. South Africa overnight became a renowned team.

Names like Jonty Rhodes legends worldwide.
Yet for some odd reason South African Indians still chose not to support their country. Statements I've personally heard was " I will never support these racists" or " I support India and whoever plays against South Africa!"

And sixteen years on...
Hashim Amla, everyone's hero scores 253* against the number one ranked side in the world. A real proud moment for every South African. Do we choose to support Amla exclusively or the entire setup? Why is it that we, South Africans by birth, continue to have these 'racist' ideals now against what we firmly believed all those years back to be horrible?

Look within us, and ask ourselves, is supporting Hash exclusively not being racist? We would love three or four players of 'Indian' origin representing South Africa. Will we support our National Team then? If that is not being racist I don't know what is.

The team you support is ultimately your choice personally. The reason you choose to support them also is in your hands. However we need to realise that if these reasons are based purely on race or religion we are fooling ourselves. We despise 'whites' who have a disregard of the potential of Amla, yet we feel the same about other players?

Something to ponder. In the words of Ml. Bilal Moolla: " Life is short. There isn't enough time to love, yet we find time to hate? "

Thanks to Ishaq for the article. What are your views. Amla still in as SA are 111 for 3.Hash needs the Big one now to save SA.

WAYNE WHO?

As the saying goes on the blog."Wayne Who...Wayne F#4cking Rooney". Scoring two vital Away Goals...and for the MANCS three away goals in total.
I must say im surprised at Milan to concede three at the San Siro of all places.
When Ronaldinho scored in just 3 minutes I thought thats its.The F34ken MANCS are gonna get buried.
Ronaldinho was terrorising Ferdinand and made it more clear how shit the England Captain is.
I cant understand Capello.
Anyways Milan kept on spurning chance upon chance and if the cruel lady from the wealest link was at the San Siro she would have told Dida in that cruel voice.
"You are the weakest link Goodbye!"
I cant understand How Dida makes the Milan team.
He f#4ken dived in slow motion as Scholes cored with hsi shin. Pepe Reyna or Buffon wouldnt do that.
A crucial away goal gave he MANCS confidence and when Seth and them started smsing me Wayne F34ken Rooney I knew 3 awa goals were bad for Milan.
Credit to Wayne Rooney. He is on fire at the moment, popping up at the right place and finishing in style.
Van De Sar was equally impressive as he continously thwarted Ronaldinho.
Seedord though scored a classy backheel to give Milan hope.....
But can Milan score two and not concede at Old Trafford where the Ghosts of Munich come out to play.
I dont think so,
Carrick saw red in the end but I dont think the Mancs will miss him.
As for Madrid........
Even Penaltinho couldnt save them.Riyad Loonat was beaten as Cassillas was beaten by a resolute Lyon side and a brilliant goal.
Madrid are shite......
As we now move on to Mourinho vs Ancelotti

Also Jose vs Ancelotti.CANT WAIT!

England v Italy: Five Reasons Why Manchester United Will Beat Milan

Goal.com's Peter Staunton examines the Red Devils' chances against the Rossoneri.
By Peter Staunton

EPL: Darren Fletcher, Manchester United v Everton (Getty Images)Two of Europe's elite clash on Tuesday night in the Champions League last 16 first-leg when Manchester United travel to San Siro to take on Milan. The English champions, and last season's beaten finalists, are tipped as favourites for the tie but will need to be wary of the Rossoneri's continental pedigree, which carried them through a tricky group that contained three previous winners of the competition.
United are again top of the Premier League rankings and seem to be chugging into form ominously as spring approaches. Despite the losses of key personnel through injury, the Old Trafford side continue to function as a formidable unit, even if a chunk of their pizzazz has been removed since the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo. No matter, Sir Alex Ferguson's team have enough quality and experience in their ranks to overcome Serie A's third-placed team.

Here's why:
Experience:
For the past two seasons, United have cut a swath through to the finals of the Champions League, beating the best teams that the continent had to offer, including Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter and Arsenal. This season, even when they were without some of their key players, the Premier League leaders made their Champions League tasks look easy. The only defeat they suffered came in a dead rubber against Besiktas once qualification for the knockouts was assured. Fergie has built winning momentum in the competition and made sure that his side are an imposing prospect for the opposition, no matter the personnel on the field.

Wayne Rooney:
The Scouse striker has seemingly been liberated since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, weighing in with his most impressive goalscoring season to date. However, goals only tell part of the Rooney story. His link-up play, physicality and instinct mark him out as one of the most devastatingly effective players in the world at the moment. Rooney is capable of sublime moments but it is often his willingness to undertake the rudimentary with a a frightening zeal that makes him nigh-on unplayable. A sure bet to score at least once over the two ties.

Fitness:
Energy, sharpness, edge, incisiveness, verve; whatever you want to call it, Manchester United have it in abundance. Patrice Evra will hassle and harry at every opportunity in the opposition half, Darren Fletcher will prevent Andrea Pirlo from having the time and space he needs in order to wave his magic wand and Wayne Rooney will test the mettle of a fragile defensive duo of Alessandro Nesta and Thiago Silva. United will not let Milan settle into the kind of game they want to play. More likely is that the English side will dictate the tempo and force the ageing Milanese to play a quick game, resulting in a high rate of possession turnover. United are masters at counter-attacking too, so if Milan moves break down at the edge of the box, United will breakout at a canter and hit Milan with more speed and power than they can handle.

Dida:
If you are looking for a goalkeeper to spoon a clearance to opposition attackers or drop a cross at a key time, then Dida is surely your man. The Brazilian netminder seems a solid enough last line of defence for about 89 minutes of every game, however, he is an accident waiting to happen. Witness Raul's goal against Milan in the group stages as evidence of this. No matter if Alessandro Nesta and Thiago Silva are fit and ready, the Rossoneri still need Dida to be on guard. Rooney and co. will need no second invite to pounce on his inevitable errors.

Vengeance:
Well matched at Old Trafford, outplayed at San Siro, United's 2007 Champions League defeat to Milan has left a bitter aftertaste in the throats of the English champions. Milan, led imperiously by Kaka, were far and away superior to United, and went on to lift the trophy. The Red Devils failed to give anything close to a decent account of themselves and will be relishing the opportunity to get one back on the Italians this time around. Milan are muddling on with much of the same number as those ties but have replaced the likes of Maldini and Kaka with players of inferior quality.

MANCS bash 5.
Liverpool look good,

& Ferdinand named Captain of England. What a JOKE

SHOULD SMITH HAVE DECLARED?

What a great feeling,What a moment for all Hash Fans! Hashim Amla has scored his maiden test double hundred and finished not out. What makes it sweeter is that its against the leading test nation India. Great stuff for Hash. I am mighty proud. I can just see Hash earning some dollars for the Deccon Chargers. But all the glory aside it had to happen to a man of this stature. His qualities, his behaviour and  his sublime skill.
It was great to watch and having a Dawaat at my grannys place made it sweeter. All the toppies were smiling and If Hash reads this,Bro our community let alone family were proud.
But of course where there are Indian toppies having Biryani on a Sunday and tea afterwards theres always controversy.
One toppie said How could Fani De Villiers say that Hash was negative. If this comment was true..Cmon vinnege Fanie. It was breathtaking and scored when SA were two down.
And of course the biggest debate was SHOULD SMITH HAVE DECLARED OR LET HASH BAT ON?
I leave it to the blog.Im quite interested to read teh comments. But for now.WELL DONE HASH.....YOU ARE THE MAN.

While I was posting this I found a few owes on facbook and got their views.Heres what they had to say

Ahmed Pahad
"No, he was protecting his record, preserving white supremacy at the top of the record charts. Had he declared 30 mins or an hour earlier, he cud use the excuse that he wanted to have a bowl at the indians while they're still tired but giving his bowlers 3 overs to bowl at the indians proves it was not the case as over 90% of bowlers require at least 1 over to get into their bowling rhythm, further more, Amla had "the great Greame Pollocks" record in site, "expert commentator Daryll Cullinans" record in site and off course, "our cricketing saviour and national team captains" record in site.He was also on course to become the first south african to score a test triple hundred.
the excuse thats going to come out, is that the team and winning the match is wats most important and i agree, winning must come first, BUT , had it been Kallis, De Villiers or himself batting, would the declaration have come? When he scored his 277, he batted on, selfishly, without regard for the team or winning the match, He had his sights on the record and he gave himself every opportunity to get it.
and if i were captain, i would bat on until the team were bowled out. there was still another 100 -150 runs on offer from our team which woud put us around 700 runs and 2 and a half days to bowl india out on a deteriorating pitch.550 is not a secure score, follow on is around 350 but at 700, the follow on is around 500
if India do bat relatively well in the first innings, then we gotto then bat again and then its a draw but with a lead of 700, india are never gonna score 500 against us.not with 3 new batsmen in the team so it puts us in the driving seat , this declaration has put the ball in indias court to salvage the match in general, all round bad captaincy

Our very own Yusuf Rasool
"What an innings hash played his proved all his critics wrong smith declared for his record not for the win he could have given hash the 20 mins to get his runs and bowl at india for the three days"

JZ VS JT

We discussed the power of Punani and now we see what Killa has in store for us JT VS JZ

Latest reports are that there are five more Chelsea players implicated.
The whole Terry saga has affected Chelsea as they dew 1-1 against Hull

Should Terrys Captaincy be removed?

In the light of the recent debarcle with John Terry and his alleged affairs.. There has been many calls for him to step down/get stripped of the England captaincy.. Now the question arises.. What is the definition of a captain.. The so called leader of the nation's pride.. The idol.. The role-model.. The facts are these..

The man had an affair with his team-mates girlfriend at the time (now his ex).. Its all explained in the POP Syndrome (Power Of Punani) as to why and how etc etc.. My question are 2 fold.. Firstly should he be captain.. And secondly, the 2nd player involved 9Bridge) might not want to play in the same team as him..What happens.. Terry is the better player.. The team captain.. The commander in chief.. Does he get dropped and u pick Bridge who is basically backup or do u leave Bridge out and take Terry but choose talent over ethic.. WIn at all cost mentality.. Screw morality and dignity. What does the coach do.. Are the captains actions one you would want your kid to personify as a leader.. Watchin him on television leading ur nation in the World Cup while the tabloids have stories of him jamming his teamates ex.. So does the nation follow the so called adulter, the so called home wrecker. Will they accept him on his talent and not his ethic.. But hold on a bit..

We as South Africans, do we have a right to answer all of the above.. Think about it.. Our leader.. Our captain.. Our Commander in Chief.. Mr Jacob Zuma.. Did he not have an affair as in the papers this week.. Did he not get accused of rape.. Was he not invoved in laundering of cash in some arms deal.. And yet we, as a nation, as a single unit, as moral and ethical citizens, voted HIM to be our leader.. Our example to follow.. Our role model.. So now.. Answer the Terry questions..

Must he lead England.. Must he have a sense of dignity and step down.. Must he be a man and accept the consequences of his actions.. Or must he be like our leader and be the object of praise everytime he makes an appearance.. Its food for thought.. So i hope u hungry..

DONT CLOSE THE DARWAJOH
By Uncle Bhai Gora
BAWRAW NE ROOPARI
When UBG was asked about all these affairs and best friends etc...he was asked if he ever cheated or was tempted to cheat whilst he was married......
His answer was simple.....He took Eric Forester on his first trip to Cape Town and showed him the ropes.
Since then Eric Forester has belted his wife, His daughter in law Brooke...I think when Punani showed itslef at him he even belted Taylor. Then Brooke belted her brother in law Ridge and her father in law Eric.
Which means Brookes father in law is in essence..AAH NEVER MIND

But affairs..Vat is it,the spice, the forbideen fruit..the dal cahvel instead of Kari kitchri. One day I remember at a wedding the aunties were all talking about how hot Eric Forester is...From the back one of the elderly toppies came and said.."Thats the f34ken problem today why there is so much shit...because you people watch that shit bold and beautiful on TV.
Everytime in Community we hear something bad, sick or disturbing, We say Ay did you hear what happened.
It was like the Bold and the Beautiful. We always draw parallals to this show.
Is our community becoming like Bold And the beautiful or are Indian women just getting prettier because they wearing less clothes than before....
Vatever...If I vas John Terry and Punani came I would take Siyaless and belt it. A man is a man..and is insaan(human)
As dey say If Punani in front of you only a Bailoh will walk
Oh and speaking of Chelsea
"Ashley Cole has admitted perjury in his recent court trial for speeding.

He said he wasn’t trying to outrun the paparazzi, but was simply trying to get home before John Terry"

GREENPOINT STADIUM

2010 in Cape Town is oviously gonna rock and during my trip I took some pics of Green Point Stadium. Its gonna be awesome..

FEDERER IN A DIFFERENT CLASS

The Austrailian Open concluded on Sunday and the first Grand Slam of the year is always exciting to watch. Sitting back on the couch and you miss the days of Samprass, Agassi, Becker and the likes. But thats the past. In the womens final I really wanted Justine Henin to win but Serena Williams was too powerful and won in a close three sets.
In the mens final it was Andy Murray and Roger Federer. Both played breathtaking tennis en route to the final. And Murray was bidding to be the first Brit to win a grand slam in something like 75 years.

If Murray won I felt England will win the World Cup in 2010.
But it was FEDERER who won convincingly and showed the class that he possesses.
Theres only one Roger Federer.

With Nadal nowhere near to what he was Federer is the King...and perhaps can be slotted in with names such as Pele,Michael Jordan,Lance Armstrong and of course Tiger Woods

CYCLING FOR A CAUSE

PILGRIMAGE: Imtiyaz Haron (24) and Nathim Cairncross (27) will cycle to Saudia Arabia.

JOURNEY TO WISDOM

TAKING only a change of clothes, a tent and a pair of open minds, two young men from Athlone will soon cycle thousands of kilometres to Saudi Arabia to perform their pilgrimage to the holy land of Mecca.
Nathim Cairncross (27) and Imtiyaz Haron (24) hope their seven-month pilgrimage will inspire other young people.
“There is a lot of wisdom to be gained and life lessons that can be learned when travelling,” says Nathim.
“Most young people have the desire to travel, but often depend on air travel. We would like to promote alternative means of transportation, and also, promote Africa as a continent.”

“People have misconceptions about Africa. There is so much in Africa to be proud of – why focus on travelling to Europe or America?”

Walking would have been too slow, and a motorbike not ideal – but a bicycle was perfect. Imtiyaz has worked in adventure sports for two years, which is how the idea of cycling to Mecca was born.

From Cape Town, they will journey to Pretoria, then through Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Tanzania and Zanzibar to Kenya. In Mombasa, they will be faced with the choice of taking a ship to Yemen or continuing overland, via Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt, where they would cross the Suez Canal into the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is a distance of between 13?000 and 14?000 kilometres.
Each day will bring a new adventure; the men will sleep in tents or mosques if they cannot find accommodation, but have heard people are willing to host travellers.

They are prepared, having spent lots of time in the saddle, but they are also concentrating on general fitness training. All that’s left is carbo-loading.
“But there is no rush, it is not a race,” says Imtiyaz. “We will also become fitter as we go.”
Themselves inspired by others, they feel the time is right for their mission, as they are without the obligations of marriage and family.
Nathim and Imtiyaz have used their own savings to fund the trip, but would gladly welcome any sponsors.
They would in particular appreciate filming equipment with which to document the trip.

“Life is about action. There is a time for ideas and theories, but action is where the sweetness of life can be found,” says Nathim.
Nathim and Imtiyaz will leave from the Islamia College Mosque on Sunday 31 January, and they promise to send People’s Post snapshots of their trip.
For more information phone Nathim Cairncross on 073?000?6384, or email nathimcairns@gmail.com.
Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

The fifth pillar of Islam, it is a religious duty that must be carried out at least once in a lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so.

AFRIDI BITES BALL

First of all I hope Hazrat is reading this. He is a meine Paki supporter. Hazrat....Pathetic. The owes are even saying that Liverpool are like Pakistan.Fine they got hammered in the series.A whitewash.
The Ozzies pumped them.
Shahid Afridi, a role model to many and one that has been in great form goes and bites the ball. How Blatant could he be. He should have rather asked an Al Makkah waiter to serve him the ball on a Hot Sauce sizzler plate.
As Captain this was unacceptable.Afridi Apologised and said it was in the heat of the moment.
Ponting has called for all fielders to wear Ball protectors if Afridi plays.
Hazrat who is better, Pakistan or Liverpool?

POP SYNDROME-POWER OF PUNANI

Firstly If you were John Terry and this was your Best Friend and neighbours girlfriend would you deploy Bailoh tactics and f34k around with your best friends girlffriend.
When temptation and hormones beat your social responsibilities and your ethics and your duty as a friend to special people and to others....
What makes a man cheat, is it the challenge, Is it the forbidden fruit. Is that why Adam ate the apple.

What kind of a Punani makes a man run, leave his lazy boy and his cup of cher (tea) and Run. Is there a type of Punani that will make a man so blind that he forgets his friends, he doesnt attend dawaats (functions).
What type of a Punani makes a man that never wore 501s wear 501's. What type of Punani makes a man that never eat sea food start eating Tiger Prawns. What makes a man go so deep that he becomes a puppet of the Punani. If the Punani says Left he goes left, If it says eat Prawns he eats, If it says I dont like House Music, He dont like house Music. If it says dont speak to your friends than you dont. Is Love like a great thing and POP syndrome like a cancer or bemaar (sickness) that affects this man
Is it Love. What is Love..................Or is love or true love synonymous to POP syndrome. I dunno.Comments please

What im saying is,If you were Jhon Terry would you put Nafs aside and have an affair with this woman in the picture or would you abastain because he was your Best Friend?

WHOS YOUR NANI?EGYPT CHAMPIONS

Arsenal vs Man Utd
Well it was big and myslef and Faaiz Oz ended up watching the game at my place. Always great to watch a Arsenal game with Oz. He gets so passionate and excited. I said to him before the game."Faaiz, You f#4kers better not disappoint us and well disappoint they did.
Whos your Nani? Where the F34k did this guy come from?He was s#34t all year and he pops up and had a f34king blinder. MJ has passed on but this man was moonwalking. The first goal, great skill, takes on three defenders and Aluminia.....Well.
Immediately Oz started pasting Aluminia saying he and Denilson are the weakest link. When Rooney and Nani combined for the second I told Oz, F3k off.
You Arsenal pricks always let the Abus down. Half time we phoned Moosa Areff, Our Arsenal sponsor on the blog and he also lashed Aluminia saying that he has Parkinsons and is Shaky, and how selfish Arshavin was...YA YA
When Park scored the third I told Oz,you stinking up my place and we watched the rest of the game with cuzzies. Even though Arsenal scored,it was too little too late and the MANCS secured a vital victory. Title Race still wide Open but still Arsenal let us down. Then again did we expect anything different

As for the rest of the clubs it was business  as usual. Rafas Reds won 2-0 against Bolton. Bolton ae always the voodoo team for us. But Kuyt on form again.
What was interesting is that it was the first time that Benitez didnt play Lucas.
A win is important and everybody gloats like we still in the HUNT for silverware.

Chelsea beat Burnley 2-1 with John Terry coming Big. The England Captain took the shine off the victory regarding his off field antics away from the BRIDGE after he was suspected jolling Wayne Bridges girlfriend and making her pregnant.
Terry suffered from the POP Syndrome and THE POWER OF PUNANI clearly affected him.And who says Punani doesnt make you score
But more on this later on the blog as wel tackle it further.

In Serie A new Juve coach Zaccheroni only managed a draw. I thought Juve will go for someone bigger. F34K Secco. Theres problems here. Del slotted a penalty only for Lazio to score late.
Milan also stumbled after drawing with Livorno and now Inter seem set. What a f3CK UP

In La Liga its still a two horse race.....

And as we wrap up the AFCON CUP 2010 IN ANGOLA, THE PHAROAHS deservedly were crowned Champions for the third time in a Row, And it was a tournament noted by sh@3e refereeing. One wonders how South Africa were denied to see Egypt particpating in 2010
